Today I speak Chinese fluently and I really feel like I have jumped out the window like you said. Before, I felt like Chinese people didn't have anything interesting. Whenever I would meet chinese people, I would notice that we couldn't communicate because a lot of them struggled with the English language. But now that I can speak Chinese, I get to feel like I am chinese too and I see more depth in Chinese people now, that I never saw before you know.
