I love shopping at Auchan, the selection is outstanding and it is within walking distance to my home in Vila do Conde. But I mostly shop st the local Mini Preco. I am a retired male and for my daily needs, it is best. Thanks for your insight!

Our expenditure is around €100 per week for both of us - We live just south of Lisbon in Setubal. We are close to Continente, Lidl and Auchan. We also get regular discounts on our Continente card, which can be as much as 10%.

Hi there! Thanks for sharing that, it definitely makes perfect sense. Aren’t discount cards here great!? 🤩😂

You’re doing a marvelous job sharing common necessities anyone moving to Portugal needs to know but has been hard to find out. Most TH-cam stuff has a person walking around with no information about where they are or what you’re looking at in the video. I’m so glad that’s not true for your channel!!! Well done. Please keep it coming❣️🥰

My wife and I are currently spending the summer in Portugal to explore and see if it might be a good place to move to from the US, and your channel has been very useful. Good job! One thing we've been having a very hard time locating in supermarkets is chicken stock/broth. Is that not a thing in Portugal? We took a side trip to Seville, and they have lots of different kinds,, and very cheap. Seems strange there would be none in Portugal, especially since this is a very useful cooking item. I've only seen it once , I think it was an Auchan in lisbon, but way overpriced, around 3 euro for 250ml.

Hi James! Thank you for your comment! Very happy to hear you find the content useful.🙂
About the chicken broth/ caldo de galinha that is very true! 😅 the most common thing here is to get small dehydrated cubes with the flavour and then mix them with water. You can find the Knorr branded ones in every supermarket for around €1-1,50.
If you’re looking for the liquid broth, you can find that in the supermarket (SuperCor) of El Corte Ingles for around €1,50 for 1 liter.
      Hope this helps!
      Cheers,
      Mariano.

@@MarianoPoggiParcellierThanks for the suggestions. Yes, I'm looking for the liquid. Supercor is the one place I haven't looked! I'll take a look when I reach Porto later this month.

This list is a bit misleading because people who are thinking about settling outside of the main cities won't find any Auchan or Supercor, they'll find lots of Modelos, Aldis or Intermarchés (besides the Lidls and Pingo Doces), which weren't mentioned in the video. Maybe the video title should refer only Lisbon's Metropolitan Area and not the whole country.

Hey there! Thanks for your comment. Well noted, it is true that SuperCor’s aren’t that available outside of bigger cities, but I would say there are as many Auchans than Intermarchés across the country. Please also consider that when I talk about “Continente” that would include the Contienente Modelo as well.
If we think by number of stores I think that just Pingo Doce, Continente and LidL will have like 75% of the market 😂.
      Cheers,
      Mariano.

@@MarianoPoggiParcellier - Pingo Doce has more than 470 stores in Portugal, Lidl has over 270, Intermarché has over 260, Aldi has over 130, Auchan only has 34.

Fair enough about Auchan! I take that, but come on, the most common places in tue country are for sure Pingo Doce, Continente and Lidl.

Hi There! Thanks for your comment. Yes, there’s Aldi and I honestly think is pretty decent but maybe not as good as other options.
