Loving my new 98. I have had it now for around 2 weeks. I am your all vintage customer. Running fully restored classic Sansui and Luxman for power. Record and tapes only. I have dialed the 98 in using 3 different sets of speakers so far. (1set at a time) It just does an amazing job! Small adjustments for each speaker. So far Sansui SP 300, Ohm Walsh 1's, and for 2 days ESS AMT 1 B's. The set of Vandersteen 2 C's will be next. Almost afraid to dial the 2 C's in as they will need to rotate out for the cooler months because of a fire place and the grill design. The 98 and I can only imagine the 99 are a home run. They are instant classics!
Unfortunately didn’t get chance to listen Classic ones , had heard T series , HT series & even No. 31 . Suberb subs you guys have. Keep Rocking & Shining 🤩
from, my understanding of these, and i have one, no you would want one of their hi end, sealed sub's. these are a bit mushy sounding compared to their other line. more of a classic boomy sub then a hi end fast details sub. of course i'm going to the extremes with my description
Thank you for reaching out. When you have a chance, please write in to contactus@rel.net and our team will be happy to provide a subwoofer pairing recommendation specific to your system.
Can't speak to the new Classic line but I have a pair of REL T9/X subs and they are fantastic with my Cornwall IVs. I do wish they had a wood veneer like this Classic line, would match a little better with the Cornwall veneer, but that's ok.
what would pair best with my vintage Spendor S100 speakers...also what is better, doing rel hooking to amp outputs versus a sub that i could send the preamp strait to a subwoofer with rca inputs that could do the low pass filter in the sub then rca's line out to my amp...that way for 2 channel the sub would do the low pass filter, kind of what an AVR could do with low pass filter...
Thank you for reaching out. When you have a chance, please write in to contactus@rel.net with the dimensions (length, width, height) of your room and this information about your speakers and our team will be happy to provide a subwoofer pairing recommendation specific to your system.
It depends on the size and dimensions of your room, though when you have a chance feel free to write in to contactus@rel.net and our team will be happy to assist.
Greeting from Australia. Thanks for the videos. I'm getting more info here than walking into a shop. What's your recommendation to pair up with KLH5, in a room size of 11.5' x 14' x 9' high ceiling for a hifi stereo setup only?
Thank you for reaching out. When you have a chance, please write in to contactus@rel.net and our team will be happy to provide a subwoofer pairing recommendation specific to your system.
does it have auto shut off? how big is the driver? how many watts is the amplifier? can it be used for both music and movies...not looking for earth shaking movie bass...
Thank you for reaching out. Both the Classic 98 and the Classic 99 feature standby circuits, which lower the unit's power draw after 30 minutes of no signal reaching it's input circuit. More detailed specifications for each of these models can be found on the product pages on our REL.net website: rel.net/product-category/classic/
Thank you for reaching out. When you have a chance, please write in to contactus@rel.net with the model of main loudspeakers that you are using and the dimensions of your room and we will be happy to provide a subwoofer pairing recommendation specific to your needs.
Thank you for reaching out, and for supporting REL. The T/9x and Classic 99 are fairly different in their design, and and the ideal choice for your system will be dependent on other variables. When you have a chance, please write in to contactus@rel.net with the model of main loudspeakers that you are running and the dimensions of your room and our team will be happy to assist.
Thank you for reaching out. Unfortunately we do not have Classic 99s available without the top badge, though in theory you could use felt or rubber pads under the glass plate so that it is not resting directly on the top badge. That being said, since the Classic 99 is capable of producing significant low-frequency output it is possible to this glass to rattle during operation of the subwoofer.

Bring back an old legend: The REL Studio 3.
I have a small place at the moment with large floor standers. 99 pairs is what I'm planning. The hz and gain can be scaled down. Beautiful sub!

do you think the 98 would match well with Cornwall IV IN A medium to small room?
Generally, peeps buy in pairs
U don't have to go as loud 😊

What does it take to pressurize a large room with infrasonic frequencies 🤔

I was about to buy 2 rel t9x and then the classic 99 comes. What are the difference? All i care about is to get my 2 ch system sound better.

Love a video where you tune it to Cornwall 4.
do you offer the 99 without the REL badge on top? - wife wants to cover the top with 1/4" glass.
Rattle something fierce 😮
use some clear rubber pads to raise the glass just enough to clear the emblem.

The badge is part of the bracing. Glass on top of a subwoofer ? I'm thinking vibrations. Have fun what ever you do.
Tell your wife, although it looks like furniture… it definitely is not.
I like the word "poundage"
Pair of Von Schweikert 10" subs
Rel Carbon Specials dwarf them
Congratulations once again, I'm waiting for the BLACK PIANO version.🤔
I live in a condo... and i dont likr my neighbors... 2 x 99 classic it is!
