I’ve had the SCY for awhile got 60A ESC 5900kv motor, hbx shocks and wheels, upgrade servo running dumbo rc transmitter, new metal upgraded cups. It dose 70mph and handles like a dream. By far the best 1/16 on road. Only ever ran mine 3s nothings broken, even with sand paddle on the beach!

Try the speed test with a full charge with the battery it came with. I got 43.3 but I wasn’t full, maybe 80 percent or so! Awesome video man now I know I can get rowdy with it!

Yes, she has ran into a lot of hard things, like a magnet. I noticed a few good slams of the tire as she was turning. She snapped the screw off the bottom of the R steering knuckle. Now I'm just trying to learn what all I need to fix it for her. Oh, I also got the Omni Terminator for me. I've only taken it out once, but it's fun!! Thanks so much for replying, I'll be looking at the site.

I would maybe order a body (they have a few different choices but not that same “beast” color scheme), a spare differential and differential input gear, body mount posts. That’s the only issues I’ve had after all this time so far but other possible and common breaks on any RC would be axles, knuckles/hubs, and control arms. Spare wheel hexes, pins, and wheels. Over-buying gets expensive lol
Now that I think of it these wheels might be the same. Double check the measurements and tread pattern. amzn.to/3QB1mRU

I plan the buy 4 cars for Christmas and am deciding between this platform SCY 16102 Pro or the HBX 16889 pro. Wich one is more durable?
Well that’s a tough question lol. My 16889a pro has given me very little trouble over almost 2 years, but it’s crashes are less severe being that it can’t go anywhere near as fast as this one. This SCY platform proved itself to me in one video lol
I have a feeling the hbx would have had a few bent axles or maybe have had a rear one pop out and get lost in the neighbors yard if it could make it over that tree and not land on its wheels 7 times like this one did lol
Both very durable either way so I would judge your decision on aesthetics and performance.

It’s based off the SYC?? Something like that. I did a review of the short course version of this truck (orange and white) and in that I found a website where parts are available. I think it was rccarsparts.com

This car was on sale on Ali on black friday but I haven't driven it yet. A little over 72 USD for the brushless pro version - same as in the video. The body shell has a slightly different slogan on it saying "Drive" not "Beast" but other than that it's the same. My model is the yellow SCY 16103 P(ro). Good deal for the price but I am going to upgrade the shocks straight away. I heard the MJX Hyper Go 16 series shocks fit it. Any recommendation for the weight / cst oil I should put in them? The aluminium shocks I've ordered arrived empty. :-/

Those are the same shocks I used, video soon, but I’m upset they don’t come with oil. I borrowed mine off of my HyperGo so were filled already. I’d say 30-50wt. Maybe higher if you want to do a lot of bigger jumps. I’ve used 80wt in my small HBXs and like it.

I've settled for 40wt / 500 CST. This car is really good for the price. Thanks for making us aware of it :). Still one can only wonder why they don't take like 10 bucks more and add oil filled shocks to the stock setup of this car.

That platform is crazy and surprisingly strong! I have the jeep version, it the one my daughter ran over with her atv (real atv, not a power wheel or anything lol) and dragged while it was wedged up under it lol. the only damage was a small crease in the body. Unreal man!

I was thinking of the brushed version as my first "real" RC car. I have the Walmart hart tool 1/10 RC, i took it and some toy RCs to the skate park and it snapped a knuckle pretty quick, but made me want more. This is quite a bit smaller but seems way more durable. Is this the one you'd recommend for under $100 and just bashing? It's there a 1/10 you'd recommend?
Also, it looks identical to the Suchiyu 16102 series(conquer and 16101 rapidly) is there any reason to get this over those(other than this one says "Max") it just whatever I find cheapest?
@@jaredsheaff939i think they are the same. The same goes for hosim q903, q905 and hp905. The hosim is also called xinlehong. The only differences between them and the suciyu from what ive seen is some of the arms and hosim comes with oil filled shocks. Think the suciyu calls their motor 2840 and hosim calls their 2845 and maybe they then have a slightly better motor?

If you want speed and jumps and stunts, this is the one. If you want slightly less speed but sliding and whipping around turns on concrete or dirt, the rapidly would be best. Though the Beast Max whips around well too. Also if you want speed be sure to get the brushless version. There are cheaper slower versions available as well.
Is there a problem if I buy the ZEE brand 850Mah 100c battery so that it can sustain 50mph without damaging the engine or any other component of the car?

Recommend a different tire set up or is the stock good enough?
The stocks are actually pretty decent for the size of the car. I am working on an upgrade video trying out some better tires but the difference isn’t as great a si thought it would be.
Same here, I tried a couple different sets but have not been very happy with the performance with heavier or larger tires. The stocks have no foam so I figured that it would make a big difference but it seems to hinder performance a bit while the stock ones maintain a bit more stability and prevent flip overs better as they allow for more drift… thought maybe you had found a better set up.
Seems like it’s pretty great out of box and maybe just an ESC upgrade if doing lots of 3s.

I thought for sure you were kidding about jumping the tree, that is just completely nuts how well this thing did. It's got to have something to do with the fact that these smaller scale just don't have the weight and mass behind them when falling, even an expensive 1/10 or 1/8 scale would have snapped or bent something for sure. But yes this little truck is incredible and absolutely the lightweightedness is a big portion of why it’s so durable. Someone literally asked about these crashes just today and how a bigger car would compare and i absolutely believe most of them would have broken some stuff if not landed on the wheels. The angry snail battery comes with a charger it looks like. It’s definitely better to have a higher grade charger like this one: amzn.to/3xBXCZX
But not completely necessary, just follow the safety precautions for lipo batteries.
I haven’t even test that fan I showed in the video. There should be plenty available on Amazon on Banggood, but need to verify the diameter of that motor. If I remember right it’s 28mm

Happened to score one of these from my local Amazon bin store the other day for $10!! It's the one with the Sweep body but everything else is the same. Just gotta give it some tlc as it was definitely used and replace the missing wheelie bar and get a new servo. Can't wait to rip it when she's all done!

What shocks did you go with?
@DerbyCityRC you're welcome! I went with some Haiboxing 1/16 shocks. Part number is 16HOP1. They're slightly shorter then the stock shocks but haven't noticed any issues. For tires I ordered a set of MJX Hyper Go wheel and tires but i also have a set of Proline Dirt Hogs from my mini Revo. Was planning to run my stock mini Revo tires but I can't find them for the life of me lol
How does it compare to the HBX 16889a Pro? handling, durability?
Seems pretty comparable honestly. Even with this one being much faster, it still controls well!

I have two of them Q117 from Temu. I got some upgraded metal parts for one of them. Can I add a 3s battery without upgrading anything else?
Be careful with too much metal. Metal parts can bend or cause other parts to bend since they don’t flex like plastic. Likely better for handling on the ground though! If you saw, I put a 3s in there without any upgrades, but it does specify 2s only so try at your own risk. Could be worth upgrading the esc to be 3s capable.

What different body shells can be used on this car? Is it basically any clip on 1/10 body?

Not necessarily any 1/16. It would kind of be trial and error. I ordered a proline 1/16 body for a 1/14 project and it was still too big, but if you stay with a body from a “China” brand, Theres a good chance you could make it work just may need to drill new holes in the body for the posts.

How much mah did you use on the 3s and how long was the driving time? Thinkinf of buying this and only use 3s. Iw wont burn the esc? I have a e revo 1/16 vxl but i guess it isnt as durable so thonking of buying this instead
Mine was a 2000mah and probably out drive for 15 minutes and it didn’t quit on me yet. It’s this one: amzn.to/40bF4cY
But it could burn out as like I said, it’s not rated for 2s, so a slightly upgraded esc would be better if you plan to use it a lot.

What after market oil shocks are similar in diameter to the stock variant? I tried a spare set of HBX that I had laying around and the rears are binding.. help!!
Working on the upgrade video now and I used my HyperGo set off my 16208, which should be these: amzn.to/45UgP4w
They get close, but no binding.
You could also find a way to space your shocks away from the mounting points a bit like with a washer or two. Just enough to pull them away from the control arms, which is what I assume yours are binding on.

I did throw some bigger tires on one and I was a bit skeptical with the performance just running it around indoors as I have not had a chance to screw around with it too much. Can’t wait to experience some more vicarious rc bashing! 😂

Yes that video is in the works, just keeps getting pushed back. I’ll try to include the gear repair. It’s so minor it’s difficult to tell which diff it’s coming from lol

Size is very similar, but they’re completely different manufacturers. Most likely no parts would be compatible.

Hi sir, i have buy this car to from temu, wich lipo you recommend for more power and a longer time that fits perfect in the car. I find some lipos with more mah 3500 or 4000 ? Is this for more power or longer time can you help me out.
The mah rating is for run time. The voltage is the main performance factor of the batteries but the C rating can matter too.

@alberthernandez5886 yes a lipo of the same voltage will typically give a. It more punch and sometimes even 1-2 more mph. The C rating isn’t as important on these smaller cars, but I’d still keep it over 35c. It’s how quickly the battery can discharge, like during throttle punch. 👍
