We did try it at 40 volts but the motors didn't last long at all. We will be making a video with 24v motors and a 40 volt battery on our dune racer soon!
Ok so I’m going nuts! I did the upgrade 1 20v dewalt battery and the motors I assume are getting hot and shutting off then go again once cool. Is there a fix for this that you know of?
Some units have an automatic reset circuit breaker so it will trip when hot and once it cools back down it will reset. This is likely your problem. Some people remove it but of course there is some risk associated with that. Good luck with your issue!
The kids were really ready to ride it and we didn't have the correct harness available. We left plenty of wire to solder the original plug back on in the future if needed!
OK this is cool for sure but the drift show at the end was just... *chef's kiss*
Thanks for the support!
That drifting was awesome!
Yes it was!
Your son is a natural drifter lol
Thank you!
Nice build! And it looks like you have an expert driver to test it! Awesome.
Thanks! 👍
Sweet thumbnail, and safety 3rd with the helmet. Good job boys!!!!
Thank you sir!!
did you upgrade the motors the regular ones they come with have a risk of burning out it you go above 24 volts
The motors are factory replacements, we have had some burn up but it was just a little smoke and they were done.
Wait, so why’d you stop at 28 volts? Want to see the full 40!!

This is great inspiring video . I'll do the same for my kid
Thank you for the support! The kids love it!
ill be following your instructions. do you have a fuse inline?
You can add an inline fuse or just purchase one of the Dewalt battery adapters that have an inline fuse included!
@@wackyengineering just saw in someone elses video that apparently the voltage regulator has a built in fuse!
Great video! One question. Does the motor speed controller go between the battery and the gas pedal or between the gas petal and motors?
The speed controller goes directly after the battery before the gas pedal, shifter, and the motors!
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 cool !
Thank you!
This is great!
Thank you!
I wanna do this to my sons car
You can find links on Amazon to the products used in this video in the description. Thanks for watching!
Does hot glue hold up?
The lighter weight components held up but we had to use epoxy for the battery holder!
Do you need the motor controller?
The motor controller makes it easy and affordable to adjust the voltage to the needs of the driver!
Worked great for 10 minutes then burnt out 😢
The stock motors are hit and miss. We have had several last for 40 -50 hours and some last last 30 minutes. Good luck!
Why do people always want to cut wires, order a modification kit
