They have to get past what the women look like in the first place. They can't even look at a picture of the women in video games without being "triggered".
/8 I don't really have a problem with how women are outfitted as long as they can kick just as much ass as the guys. And for the assassins Creed, I was curious as to how the women would look like in the Assassin gear for fan art reasons . _ . ;;; (hides her face)
It's the dumbest thing to even bring to light. Who gives a shit? Is there a huge market for women in video games? Seriously. As a woman I rather have a male character because they are stronger and have better health. Jesus it's a bunch of dick envy from the feminist.
If they added women to the game, they'd then complain about she's: too sexy, too feminine, too masculine, too weak, too plain looking, not a main character, just a female version of the main character, too skinny, too unrealistically proportioned, she's too white, or if she's anything other than white then they will say that she's still too white or complain about her voice actor not being of the same race. They will complain about ANY of those things, I guarantee you! So just do what you want, don't give into brain-dead, overly sensitive feminists, or SJWS in general.
As an animator I would like to drop my 2 cents on the whole 8000 animation thing. For starter a walk cycle is like 8 to 9 animated poses and that is simply walking. Now we have a female skeleton that has do everything the male skeleton could do. For example you would have to re animate every scene, Re animate every step, every mouth movement (could very well be the bulk of an animation. after all they have to use a new mouth shape for every sound, if you have a 100 word sentence that is made up of 3 syllables that alone is 300 diffrent animations) , every eye blink head, shoulder movement, fight animations (animating walking is much easier than animating a punch). I can see it reaching 8000 though. Heck when you turn to look at someone you move your head, eyes, neck, torso, and your feet. So yeah 8000 sounds like a lot but you can get there
you know what i hate about both sides of this discussion? It's ubisoft you people are talking about you're talking about people who spend millions on frivolous vain shit for their games, It's not at all a Herculean task for them to do those animations, *smaller* studios like Techland can do that shit with less time and money, and if ubisoft didn't want to do it it's their choice, but that's not what they said, now, isn't it? El Castro No. We are talking about a business that has to hire animators. They have wasted money before. But if they didn't think what they added would ad to the profit of the game. She says Tomb Raider is sexist because the woman is always scantily clad or wearing tight clothing. For someone who hates playing video games she sure has a lot to say about them.

also i know when i play video games i want the main guy character to be attractive so i dont see why its a problem to have attractive female characters for men. seems kinda contradictory.
How about these games are being historically accurate. Women didn't fight in wars, even now women can fight on the front lines and women are refusing to sign up for front line positions. Yes there are a few women in combat positions but it is way, way lower than men in combat
They did fight in wars, but was a rarity. I remember in WWII for a short time the russians had some women holding a position (I don't remember exactly) and didn't hold up to well like the men would've.
+Bentastic197 they usually work as nurses at war because they have the instincts from when we were more "savage" to care. A very few girls feel that they actually want to fight. It's a shame because girls are more flexible than men and could do some spy work in wars. Or just be foot soldiers. Some girls have more muscles than others.
Yellow Muffler I agree, if it were up to me, I'd use women for snipers, Assassins, and Spies. Not saying women can't be on the front lines, they can (with the exception), but men are better fit for long enduring battles than women. Doesn't mean that women can't kick ass (they can) you fight to your strengths.
All feminist do is complain. Who cares!!! They don't like women to appear violent but want them to be in a video game doing violence? They don't want women being used as sexual objects but want to equate themselves to men sexually? If they show a woman doing housework in a video game, it's setting women back. Laura Croft isn't an ideal and realistic female, but she has a leading role and her own franchise? There aren't enough black (or insert minority group here) females... I mean come on! There are plenty of female characters in games that are good. Ellie, Clementine, Max, etc. That lady is full of it! Why can't feminist and women's groups get together and create their own studio and hire females to create games?
Are women too hard to animate? No. But they are technically slightly harder. The breasts have to be rigged to move and the animator has to key them bouncing around. It's not some herculean task, but it's an extra step that takes time. Source: I'm an animator.
To be honest as a woman, it doesn't make sense to have women as soldier if a game takes place in the first or second world war. Or any other war that happened. There were so little women soldiers in those times, while all men were forced to battle. It's logical to see women in those times as victims of violence instead of soldiers that fought, bc that was the case in those wars. Like should we rewrite history to make it 'feminist' enough for Anita?
madamelicorne nah she can go fuck herself, but then again she'd say I was threatening her because I'm another one of the people that don't believe her bullshit or her con artist fuckery, and I'm one of the many people that called her out
Totally agree, in the world wars the very little women that did battle did not get many weapons (if any at all). If game designers followed the concept to a T with historical facts, Anita would still not be satisfied.
That’s true, but it’s not like fictional stories are always accurate even when they do take place in historical settings or old time settings. And just because women weren’t allowed to be soldiers back then or didn’t want to be most of the time, that doesn’t mean there were no women that wanted to be in those settings or just ended up somehow in those settings.
It helps with emersion in games with character creation but that's pretty much it. Real gamers don't give a fuck about gender it's all about how the game presents itself and how fun it is.
The thing you have to understand about Anita is that, from her point of view, NO self respecting woman in their right mind would ever want to dress the way these female characters do. She just doesn't consider it as a possibility.
Patricia Lynne So try a character that _might_ be sexy. Mei from Overwatch comes to mind. Many assume she’s just a fat chick in a little coat. But what if she was a sexy little thing under a thick, heavy coat? Of course, you’ll know the truth- but the _audience_ doesn’t have to know the difference. And that leaves you with a _lot_ of freedom to play. In design, detail- even in your portrayal of the character. And in cosplay, it doesn’t even really matter how it’s done- as long as you can convince the audience you’re doing it right. Show, don’t tell.
It isn't just about the skeletons. The biggest problem is you have to put a lot of funds to hiring new voice actors for the characters as well as pay everyone to make the animations. Animation is expensive and just because the skeletons would be 2 days work the recording would take more time. They also have a strict budget.
and even then, it Wouldn't just be 2 days work. like, even applying preexisting animations to the new skeleton, you'd have to deal with all sorts of clipping issues and other potential problems. and then you'd ahve people complain about how much worse the female characters were animated compared to the male ones.
yeah and not just for the english language. the german voicepack includes on top voicing. the actors who synch all these superstars in movies are synching assassins creed games too. so in germany we have the german voice of jake gyllenhall, michael fassbender etc etc. these guys cost a bit of money to do that^^
"I dont want to go around shooting people and ripping their heads off because ew!!" THEN GO BACK TO PLAYING PEGGAL AND BEJEWELED AND LEAVE THE REST OF US ALONE!! (goes back to playing DOOM 4)
Ashleigh Jones I mean come on there are hella other games to play that aren't neatly that violent. Fucking crash bandicolt, sly cooper, fable, the reckoning, almost any Mario game, splatoon, like come on. Not to mention all the indie games out there. There's no need for anyone to feel like every game is a pew pew shoot kill everything cause it's not.
I've worked in the Gaming industry for over 20 years. Adding a completely new skeleton for a player character into an open world game takes much much longer than 2 days. Each movement has to be reworked, each weapon, each interaction, everything. Such a thing would be months of work for a full team of Devs and testers. That guy from Bioware was talking out of his ass.
"A day or two's work"? What? I am an animator who works with Motion Capture in video games, among other things. Unique characters take a LOT more than a "day or two". Even if they made the mistake of recycling animations captured from another actor (a mistake because different people move differently, and actors should always be cast as closely to the actual character as possible), then retargeting the animation onto the new female character can be a very time consuming process. Why? Because proportions matter, and the hands and feet contacts need to be accurate relative to the character's body, props and environment. If this is screwed up, guns or knives will float away from the hands, feet won't touch, or penetrate the floor, hands on hips suddenly look like hands inside the body etc. The problem is compounded when the character has flowing clothing or long hair. Even when all of the animations work, and all of the automatic animation blending (in engine) works, it all has to be tested and retested. And all of this is on top of character design and audio recording. A day or two of work? More like hundreds of thousands of dollars (possibly millions) and hundreds, possibly thousands, of man hours...oh, I mean person hours. I worked on a trailer for "The Order; 1886", and *just* a trailer took dozens of us working for about couple of months. Design, writing, texturing, rigging, lighting, engine integration, motion capture, voice over etc... It is not like pushing a button and *POP* here comes a new character.
I always go back to this story when I hear Anita talk about not enough playable women characters in games. I was 8 years old in 1998 when I got an N64 with Ocarina of Time for Christmas. I was super hyped about how cool this game was back then and how it really made me feel like I was on an adventure. When I tried to show my sister's friend she looked at the character and said "You should be able to play as a girl." The thought had never crossed my mind before and it blew me away. I said, "Yeah, that wouldn't make a difference though."
For this, I could see the point of letting you choose. Zelda has a much larger female audience than COD. But yeah, honestly it'd make little to no difference, most likely. Though I like Persona 3 Portable for this. You can choose to be male or female and depending on your choice parts of the story and character interactions will be different. I think that's really cool.
Unless it makes a difference in the narrative, like in Persona 3, the sexual characteristics really don't matter to gameplay. Like in OoT, Link is a kid, and later young adult, who goes on an adventure. He says nothing and characters interact with him as though they expect him to do things for them and not much else.As far as gameplay and story goes, him being male didn't make any difference. Anita's bitching here about co-op gameplay in which there are no female models, when the meaningful interactions are the ones you're performing with other players. It's like a game where it makes even less of a difference than Zelda games! I just want to ask her why I should care, because she doesn't explain that very well. I'd do that except she turns her comments off. :/
An enemy is an enemy no matter their gender or mode of dress! And since I'm pro equality, let's hyper-sexualize some male characters too!!! Us gay boys like skin too. Lol
Has she even played Assassin's Creed Liberation, that has a WOMAN assassin. Of course she hasn't, she just half asses her "research" and just assumes it's sexist, shows impossibly thin women that can fight back but she makes all the women look like damsels in distress. What about Chun Li, Cammy, Ivy from soul calibur , Rayne, Cassandra, Talim, Tira, Morrigan from dark stalkers, Jill Valentine, Ada Wong, Ayame from Tenchu, Zelda (she doesn't fight much, but she still fights regardless.), Rin from Tenchu fatal shadows, Fault Zone and Solara from Marvel Nemesis, that one girl from Undead Knights and many other female fighters?
pshhh. I think it's so wrong for people to judge the 'all male' characters. how do you know if one of them actually identifies as a female or transgender? so rude to think that just because they look like cisgender men on the outside people can judge their insides? why don't they just claim that the character is gender neutral? I want to see feminists kvetch about that...
not nearly as many girls play games as guys, also who's fucking business is it that a company makes a female lead? Make your own damned game with a female lead. Also feminism only has a problem with sexy women. THAT'S their problem.
Maybe if the majority of the audience was female. I honestly don't see the point in a game like AssCreed or COD, where the majority of the audience is/and will continue to be male. Wouldn't a better idea be to create more, better games directed at women instead of shoehorning them into mostly male games?
+nk DIO No, it would be if the majority of customers were feminists. The devs make mostly male characters because most of the customers (and the devs themselves) are males. No the other way around. Also, women who play videogames don't really care about representation. THey care about the games quality, not the politics behind it.
You aren't. :) What she forgets is since the multiplayer is just people playing on a different server (I believe) but with the same models and customizations of the male main character from their single-player/story-mode servers. To add in a female, it would mean not only make up a whole different story-line and gameplay since the character would be a different gender and therefor (at the time) there would be different consequences and situations.
What I want to know is what fucking problems did she have with Bioshock: Infinite? Game was a goddamn masterpiece! Also love the Chevelle towards the end.
If they had added female characters; "Why is she wearing makeup?!?"/"Why isn't she wearing makeup?" "Can I change her hairstyle?", "This hipsway is sexist!" "The animations look too manly!", "She sits elegantly, like a woman WTF?" (Remember that one, from Destiny?) "Why can't I change into my bodytype!?" "Made her slim with breasts - male gaze - REEEEE!" etc. etc. That is exactly the type of atmosphere that was going on around the launch, so obviously when and if they considered making women, they were met with a shit ton of questions of "How do we make a woman that doesn't piss everyone off?" and very likely could have been the reason women were not playable in the game.
Man I watched 7 of your videos now, already subscribed!!! YES YE YES YES YES MAN! We're on the same team! I love your videos. Best regards from a Bavarian barbarian living in Saxony.
They actually are just trying to make them look feminine(you know eyes, body etc) and um boobs aren't just two half drawn circles if you get what I mean
+Matt Lazer I know it was just the inventory screen. As gender neutral as dark souls is with its strong female characters, both good and bad I don't know what she would criticise. I also don't believe she has the skill required to get anywhere in that series but she's lied and stolen footage before and no one on her side called her out then. I also don't believe she has the intelligence required to understand the storytelling of a Souls game. On second thought it may be pretty funny to see her swing and miss as terribly as we know she would trying to make DS fit her agenda.
"A day or two's work" Of mo-cap. That's expensive. Also, that's probably an optimistic timetable. "We don't really care" BS. Budgets exist. She brings up Street Fighter? Really? Hasn't she brought up this game as being sexist because boobs/butts before? *a few seconds later* And there it is.
Plus about the re-animation to make a female character it's going to be a lot of things to sync up. Like when your mouth moves that small part just under your mouth moves a tiny bit and that takes up work time. It's the small things with one big thing that make it hard. 1 or 2 days isn't at all what they need to make a whole new female character that is actually a character not just a shallow figure that goes around killing people.
I work in film, in a section that closely resembles game development; even asking for 5, let alone 8000, animations is a heavy request. Deadlines matter. They could have tried augmenting the animations with some matrix math to adjust to the female character's skeletal structures, but its not going to look right. Even if you do go down that route, you could add more sway or different weighting to how a body moves, but that would be as, if not more, costly through research and development instead of the animation department. Not to mention the excess stress on what ever system you intend the game to run on. Doing all that extra math is going to mess with the user experience playing the game. And, 1 or 2 days? Does that guy know what it takes to animate a 3d character?? Let alone concept, modeling, texturing, rigging, get sign offs by art directors and head director, incorporating the new set of animations into a pipeline that might not account for a deviation in animation playbacks for a main character, and any number of other unforeseen issues due to arise..
So private companies should make female characters for Anita's satisfaction. I hope she will be paying the bill. And why do you need a female character?
Neko Loki Video Games generally are trying to emerge the player to make them feel as if they’re in the game. That’s why there are more men and that’s why people want more realism.
@@seedlessgrapes7188 î would make women weaker, but faster. to get some balance for example. but infact i dont really care... i like watchin female asses when i play :D
smash bros anyone??? final fantasy???? dynasty warriors? seiken densetsu???? and why does she think that all video games include guns, gore and human on human violence? she's gross dude
The whole "sexy nun assassins in Hitman" thing was clearly something that came from the "Femme Fatale" idea.. just amped up to be ... badass. I personally find it quite awesome.. Sexy, dangerous as hell. While she'd walk towards me she'd already have my heart beating and while I'm all flustered by her stunning looks, she could slit my throat before I even knew what happened. If that's not fucking powerful, I don't know what is. I don't think there's any less value in the female enemy looking sexy. It doesn't minimize them in my experience at all. Though I must add, I don't *require* it either; Several female characters can be dangerous and believable and not "sexualized".. it's not something that needs to happen to cater to a man. But some badass latex nuns with automatic rifles aren't something I would value less in any way. What I was hoping in Hitman Absolution, that we would have seen way more of those characters, as they seemed like awesome, incredibly confident and powerful female characters who don't fuck around or give a shit about what anyone thinks. Not weak, certainly not victims.
Why do people listen to Anita? She constantly displays her ignorance of the games industry, both the production side and playing side. It took CoD 10 years to add playable female characters, to a game that has a playerbase that is approx. 90% male. No shit. It's almost as if they realised how pointless that would have been prior to now. Someone said she's just the mouthpiece for her partner's views, and I am beginning to believe that.
Instead of putting women in a game like COD, why not push to make more, better games directed towards female audiences? I feel that'd be a much better use of her time, it'd make more sense, and it wouldn't waste a company's time/money on a feature that'll end up making little to no difference in sales or actual gameplay.
SUPPLY AND DEMAND THANK YOU. Someone finally said it. Thank you. Literally got a B- in Economics and I understand this ‘put LGBT people in Hollywood instead of cis heteros’ and ‘put women in games or you’re a sexist’ ideology. Supply and demand. Economics. Business. Holy.
my gf is a Full Sail animation student and trust me when I say just one character is worth a week of all nighters of work with not just animating, rigging, motion capturing, detailing, and rendering
I love that argument "basically they are saying its just too much work!" as if thats a real reason..ok then antia, YOU make a game with all women, OH you dont want too? probably becasue its too much work, so i guess you cannot be bothered to make a game witha female protagonist either huh? hmm
If you consider the cost of creating female Player Character skeletal structure and animations, you would likely be looking at $150,000... *On the extremely conservative end.* Much less the time for testing, which they *obviously* ran out of due to the plethora of the bugs already within the game.
I was lucky to get into Unity a while after release and a bunch of patches later. I still got a few bugs. But i think that the the 8000 animation thing is probably pretty accurate. Including the climbing of different objects, fighting with different weapons, special counter moves, different speech recordings, etc.. it would probably been a very long process on top of the already long process of animating a single person fully.
I got really annoyed when she said "who gives a shit if it takes place in a historical setting when female combatants were unheard of? Put them in that shitttt!" DICE and EA are smart to ignore this BS.
I had an inkling that she had no idea how the game's industry works but this takes the cake. Honestly, you have a million time constraints and budgets, you have to cut things you sunk money and time into just to make launch, people within the industry get so attached to a feature they're trying to implement that just isn't working out no matter how much time and money are being thrown at it. When you map a new skeleton the existing animations for a different skeleton won't work, it'll stretch out weird and break constantly, you'd have to re-map the animations from scratch, everything from walking, reaching, jumping, climbing, dueling, standing, idles, sneaking, sprinting, shuffling, ANYTHING you can do in the game needs animation. Not to mention new voices for EVERYTHING, it's just an overwhelming task, you'd be looking at... Weeks of work hiring, takes, mixing, lip sync, coding, testing, fixing ... But the hashtag is pretty funny
I found your videos through TheThinkTank, somehow. But thanks for this... As a women who plays video games and has for most of her life, Anita certainly doesn't speak for the vast majority of us. While it's nice to have a female protagonist that I feel I can "project" myself into, it's never stopped me from playing and actively enjoying games like God of War or COD or Halo. And I don't think at any point in my life have ever considered how provocative a woman is to be any factor on how well they can kill me or not. Honestly, in most games, I find that the provocatively dressed characters tend to hit that much harder because they are meant to be unassuming. Flaunt what you got, girl.
considering all attacks, blocks, rolling, diving, jumping, climbing, and basic movements used in the assassin's creed game it may well be atound 8,000 animations that were needed. Unisoft trys to make character movements as realistic as possible; therefore, creating a female skeleton would completely change most of the movements. Now, they could have kept all of the movements the same and simply applied the female skeleton and done in a few days, though this would lend itself to many more gliches.
9:45 Trying to bring Saints Row into a discussion about acceptable behavior...what??? Also that clip from Star Trek is from an episode that everyone should watch at least once (the Drumhead)
Fuck me. THIS is a problem that needs to be corrected? What about transgender assassins? Solutions in search of a problem. Glad to see your channel growing, Derrick
Unity was so unmemorable that I can't remember if I liked it or not and I got it, played through, and beat it the beginning of this year. Syndicate I got in the same bundle as Unity and I actually really loved it.
Me myself I like having the option to change my character. But if a game doesn't give me that option I don't go around telling people Video games hate women.
It's less timing and more disc space since the games audience is mostly male to add even like 5 new main characters with fully unique animations, textures and models would take away a lot of space needed for other things
Complains about not enough women being in game.
Devs adds more women in games.
Complains about people being able to kill women in games...

She's the fucking George W. Bush of TH-cam! She just makes it FAR too easy to sodomize her soul!
So... she's doesn't think it's okay for women to look sexy in games... but it's okay for men?
Yep
+Yellow Muffler that logic is so fucked
ÜberPanzer48 I don't make the rules here.

like homoerotic batman
but how does any of this affect actual women. if you don't like the game . don't play it
+JZ Squared oh okay. clearly she's never played tomb raider. doesn't that teach women to be violent to men
She says Tomb Raider is sexist because the woman is always scantily clad or wearing tight clothing. For someone who hates playing video games she sure has a lot to say about them.

Bentastic197 yeah
Joyce J / ASouthernWriter andromea
you know what happens when too much females working together :)
Are women too hard to animate? No. But they are technically slightly harder. The breasts have to be rigged to move and the animator has to key them bouncing around. It's not some herculean task, but it's an extra step that takes time. Source: I'm an animator.
Xenon Thanks I was wondering about exactly that.
Xenon Can confirm. The bones in FFXIV were at a set number, so if you have an exposed chest and a cape, you have to choose boobies or cape movements.
or you know.. just don't cater to men and don't make obnoxiously huge breasts that bounce... women don't care. Men do.
Also as a woman I agree
That’s true, but it’s not like fictional stories are always accurate even when they do take place in historical settings or old time settings. And just because women weren’t allowed to be soldiers back then or didn’t want to be most of the time, that doesn’t mean there were no women that wanted to be in those settings or just ended up somehow in those settings.
Does adding female characters really help the game play?
No.
not at all
Not at all
I don't know. It's there a reason for it that was planned in the game from the start?
If not, then not really. :B
So those female cosplayers aren't a thing, right?
WickedWicka
She'd probably just say they have internalized misogyny and are the agents of their own destruction or something like that.
Nick on Planet Ripple: I didn't expect you to be here on a SomeBlackGuy or an Anita video.
Isn't she part of the group of feminists that like to walk around topless to make a point though?
It isn't just about the skeletons. The biggest problem is you have to put a lot of funds to hiring new voice actors for the characters as well as pay everyone to make the animations. Animation is expensive and just because the skeletons would be 2 days work the recording would take more time. They also have a strict budget.
and even then, it Wouldn't just be 2 days work. like, even applying preexisting animations to the new skeleton, you'd have to deal with all sorts of clipping issues and other potential problems. and then you'd ahve people complain about how much worse the female characters were animated compared to the male ones.
yeah and not just for the english language. the german voicepack includes on top voicing. the actors who synch all these superstars in movies are synching assassins creed games too. so in germany we have the german voice of jake gyllenhall, michael fassbender etc etc. these guys cost a bit of money to do that^^
Good point I hadn't even considered that yet. That'd be a bigger deal then the animations I would guess. Studio work takes a long time.
I wouldn't have known about your channel if it hadn't been for your video on MrRepzion's channel. Your videos are awesome :D
Thank youuuuu!!!! :)
I immediately came and subbed after one of your videos on mrrepzion's channel.
Sarah Acree Which video?
(I'm agreeing with you by the way)
I've worked in the Gaming industry for over 20 years. Adding a completely new skeleton for a player character into an open world game takes much much longer than 2 days. Each movement has to be reworked, each weapon, each interaction, everything. Such a thing would be months of work for a full team of Devs and testers. That guy from Bioware was talking out of his ass.
"No female characters"
Well, so fucking what?
I said, "Yeah, that wouldn't make a difference though."
also zelda was a badass ninja. but they would just ignore that part
+#1Slayer Man, this was December 1998, we didn't know Sheik was Zelda yet.
+MagicalHatStudios but she still was.
Lol
I noticed your use of a Chevelle song in this video 😂 props for that. Great band 👏
One of my favorites!
I died at the moshing part
also it's more historically accurate because in those days a woman would never be given a hard working job like being an assassin
Black Republican Metalhead There have been multiple female assassins in Assassin creed lore. Hell one of the first assassins was Eve of Eden herself.
How come no one ever pointed out how weird her eyebrows are?
Her whole appearance is weird, there is no point in pointing out just one thing.
she looks constantly surprised
they look like my computer charger wire
it looks like shes smelling the shit coming from her mouth
I'm having a some black guy marathon. Love your videos ❤
Well, I remember the stink where they were trying to list characters like Zelda and Samus as trans.
It won't take 8000 frames to fix her eyebrows
not nearly as many girls play games as guys, also who's fucking business is it that a company makes a female lead? Make your own damned game with a female lead.
Also feminism only has a problem with sexy women. THAT'S their problem.
Hi, I'm a male and I play Symmetra on Overwatch because 60% win rate when you # getgood
Symmetra is female for those who don't know.
Symmetra is the best defence character.
+Junta “hex” Momonari oh fuck yeah
Take your turrets and go back to India. *Kappa*
+John milshnogenberg I hate that fucking pig
+fuwafuwatamago Roadhog rides again.
imagine anita sarkeesian reviewing Senran Kagura , or any other Japanese Moe game
Would adding more female representation increase sales?
not really
Maybe if the majority of the audience was female. I honestly don't see the point in a game like AssCreed or COD, where the majority of the audience is/and will continue to be male. Wouldn't a better idea be to create more, better games directed at women instead of shoehorning them into mostly male games?
nk di yes
+nk DIO No, it would be if the majority of customers were feminists.
The devs make mostly male characters because most of the customers (and the devs themselves) are males. No the other way around.
Also, women who play videogames don't really care about representation. THey care about the games quality, not the politics behind it.
Dark Gunman What is a costumer lmao
Bring the mother fucking ruckus, indeed.
And great video as well.
Am I the only female who doesn't care if she plays a male or a female?Jeez you can literally see problems everywhere, Anita. Then again, it pays
You aren't. :)
What she forgets is since the multiplayer is just people playing on a different server (I believe) but with the same models and customizations of the male main character from their single-player/story-mode servers. To add in a female, it would mean not only make up a whole different story-line and gameplay since the character would be a different gender and therefor (at the time) there would be different consequences and situations.
"...Im gonna go blank slate..." 👍👍👍 Mah Dude!!! Well said!🙌
What I want to know is what fucking problems did she have with Bioshock: Infinite? Game was a goddamn masterpiece! Also love the Chevelle towards the end.
If they had added female characters;
"Why is she wearing makeup?!?"/"Why isn't she wearing makeup?"
"Can I change her hairstyle?", "This hipsway is sexist!"
"The animations look too manly!", "She sits elegantly, like a woman WTF?"
(Remember that one, from Destiny?)
"Why can't I change into my bodytype!?"
"Made her slim with breasts - male gaze - REEEEE!"
etc. etc.
That is exactly the type of atmosphere that was going on around the launch, so obviously when and if they considered making women, they were met with a shit ton of questions of "How do we make a woman that doesn't piss everyone off?" and very likely could have been the reason women were not playable in the game.
Where is my sandvich...
If you need a female playable character to feel validated, there's something wrong.
I saw a clip of dark souls I swear to god Anita stay the fuck away from my games!
If someone as talentless as anita would slander a master piece like dark souls, then I would hate her even more.
Good work man, I especially liked the comment about her shameless release times and begging at the end. very well done.
"A day or two's work"
Of mo-cap. That's expensive. Also, that's probably an optimistic timetable.
"We don't really care"
BS.
I died at the crowd moshpit
Hilariously I caught this on my recommended and it's almost 2020 and she still has not finished the videos, just like you said.
So private companies should make female characters for Anita's satisfaction. I hope she will be paying the bill. And why do you need a female character?
What a great comfortable world when our biggest upset is video games, movies, and music. 🙄
Let me think of a joke.
Anita playing a video game.
James Colrman Fucking amazing Mate!
Women not in games: "SEXIST!"
Women in games: "SEXIST!"
Game Companies: "FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF"
If all games need female characters, can we make it realistic?
All women have lower strength and speed stats.
scientifically men are stronger and faster, that’s why sports are separated into to different leagues: men and female
"You made that shit up" Great vid. And hey, I saw a picture frame.
smash bros anyone??? final fantasy???? dynasty warriors? seiken densetsu???? and why does she think that all video games include guns, gore and human on human violence? she's gross dude
And it's not like it matters because you can't see the fucking person you're playing as either.
Economics. Business. Holy.
Wait in Saints row hoarde mode don't you fight dozens of furrys and zombies also etc
Bester Mann. Humor und Kompetenz. So selten hier auf youtube. Bin zu faul auf englisch zu schreiben.
First!! Oh! And good video :)
Aw, you were too late. :,(
Nope I was first. Pretty self explainitory
No I was first

almost choke myself with the Chevelle - Comfortable Liar song, instant subscription earned :D
You will never see the WNBA in the NBA 2K series
Haha true.

I know a couple women who play CoD, I know one that plays Halo, I know zero who play Assassin's Creed.

Video was on point man. Anita's still out here trolling and conning.
I absolutely LOVE your point of view! So on point!
Hell yeah! As Blood Runs Black! Allegiance is my favorite album.
my gf is a Full Sail animation student and trust me when I say just one character is worth a week of all nighters of work with not just animating, rigging, motion capturing, detailing, and rendering
That derp face of her at your intro was awesome.
Oh yeah, because EVERY game has to do with shooting people up...
Syndicate is actually super cool, and I personally haven't experienced any bugs. I would recommend that you play it 😁
One of my favourite response images I've used before is the picture of the lone black viking standing amongst the group.
I love that argument "basically they are saying its just too much work!" as if thats a real reason..ok then antia, YOU make a game with all women, OH you dont want too? probably becasue its too much work, so i guess you cannot be bothered to make a game witha female protagonist either huh? hmm
Thanks Derrick. Thanks for explaining game design to some people. ^
The only mainstream “violence against women is sexy” media was 50 Shades of Grey....
I have never once thought twice when I start a game and there is no female options. Ever. All I want is a good build and a badass look.
There is a thing called visual aesthetic. Creators make characters they like.
You make the video games, you choose the characters.
considering all attacks, blocks, rolling, diving, jumping, climbing, and basic movements used in the assassin's creed game it may well be atound 8,000 animations that were needed. Unisoft trys to make character movements as realistic as possible; therefore, creating a female skeleton would completely change most of the movements. Now, they could have kept all of the movements the same and simply applied the female skeleton and done in a few days, though this would lend itself to many more gliches.
She's a well-spoken woman who seems to really care... About what? I have no idea.
I was starting to wonder what'd happened to our dear friend Sarkeesian. She's been quiet for a while.
9:45 Trying to bring Saints Row into a discussion about acceptable behavior...what??? Also that clip from Star Trek is from an episode that everyone should watch at least once (the Drumhead)
"you probably just made that $#it up" - LOL
i dont care what my character looks like i just want a good game with little glitches
The whole point of saints row was to piss people like her off xD
Fuck me. THIS is a problem that needs to be corrected?
What about transgender assassins? Solutions in search of
a problem. Glad to see your channel growing, Derrick
I'm laughing picturing a female looking assassin with a big bulk in her pants! (yeah i k ow i'm childish XD)
love the fact she does not bring up MMOs, Mobas and Rpg games
Unity was so unmemorable that I can't remember if I liked it or not and I got it, played through, and beat it the beginning of this year. Syndicate I got in the same bundle as Unity and I actually really loved it.
"Hi, I am Anita Sarkeesian and I make no sense!"
I am surprised that Ubisoft didn't make them all female assassins, seems as though they could pay them less. It's just basic economics duh!
That number for the animations to be redone is actually very reasonable. (The 8000)
Dude thank u not just for this video but all the ones I’ve seen so far it so tuff to find common sense nowadays so DONT U DARE STOP
#YourAwsome
Me myself I like having the option to change my character. But if a game doesn't give me that option I don't go around telling people Video games hate women.
It's their game, they can do whatever the fuck they want with it
It's less timing and more disc space since the games audience is mostly male to add even like 5 new main characters with fully unique animations, textures and models would take away a lot of space needed for other things
Assasins Creed Liberation has you start as a female African american with alot of depth of character... no mention. nice job bro keep up the good work
