It really is. Outside of the versatility it has over all, it has some bass-specific greatness. the filter doesnt steal lows with resonance, though you can artificitial get the effect with the 2nd filter used as a ~high pass. The sine sub, plus you have so many oscllators you can have in effect double subs, make them both sine, or one a tri. the multple gain stages mean you can get several different distortion and fuzz, even, types.
Hey, I made a studio tour a few weeks ago when I re-did my setup: th-cam.com/video/7WahHuckHCE/w-d-xo.html . But I don't go over my synths there, just the basic setup.
"I'm a caveman" hahah classic. Great vid. I have a pro 2 and it's in storage now due to couch surfing for a while.. I need it! you get really great sounds out of it and is very inspiring
That's a genuinely eerie harmonic progression. Highly inspiring, and I get this strange feeling that it invokes a memory of something I've heard before, but I'm unsure if that's from a computer game soundtrack, or a fever dream. Very nicely done indeed. And I'll chip in on the "do this with a Blofeld or DM12" team ;)
That piano patch is so you! sounds so much like your other songs. Find it hard to believe you never created it yourself, would fit right into the christmas song.
So Cool ! I really liked this one ! Harmonic minor and non diatonic modulation right ? Could you explain a bit further what is going on in the harmony ? It would be fantastic because your music theory background is so deep !
TheOrangepeak literally my thoughts mate although musically we're different but I still admire his mad skills in creating patches and that plus as you said his deep knowledge of music theory definitely helps him with his flow.
Thanks! I'll try to talk more about this in my future vids. I'm no expert by any means. In this one the verse is in F minor, but I transpose to E minor for the chorus, which is a very awkward change in general, but I wanted to have that strange impact/shift. I kind of force the key change by playing the dominant (C7 into F minor and B7 into E minor). The B7->C7 change when in Em sounded surprisingly good so I got a bit lucky there.
Hey m'man, I'm LOVING these. What a great choice you made to walk away from the Bay and go full time music. Congrats! I was wondering if in a future video you could show a bit of your ableton structure to avoid "loop-itis", which I suffer greatly from, especially on stuff like OP-1 and Digitakt. Just a quick side note to show how you think of song structure and how you label everything? pretty please :D
This series is awesome! Noob question: When you say "quantize" it means fit to the tempo(?)? Can you do it when working with audio trakcs and not with midi/piano roll? Waiting for a minilogue ep!
Yeah quantize=lock to tempo grid. Yeah ableton can do some quantizing of audio tracks too, but it doesn't always work perfectly. Works mainly for very percussive stuff.
@@onceuponasynth Oh wow, you are the first synth person I talked to who said that :D It was just kind of a coincidence, both of you have a similar vibe, your name is 'once upon a synth' and his/her name is 'once upon a time'
This man is really ridiculous, he has beautiful synthesizers but his music is really embarrassing, on the other hand he feels that he is an expert in production and synthesizers and I at least do not see any genius here.
all time great rap hooks & melody vibes i ever heard
i come back here like once a year
Another great vid. Well done..Cant wait to hear your album.Weird and wonderful stuff again. !Thanks !
Absolute Genius. I would like to here a 6 min long track of this song. Just great original stuff. Huge well done !
Another great video! Your creativity here is truly inspiring.
Pro 2 is serious a badass synth. I love this castlevania vibe, well done!

Such a great series, imma have to take you up on this one synth challenge, and to make it official I’ll have to spit some fire at the end xD
how tf did you do that vibrato with your voice at 2:18
lolwut? I don't hear any vibrato?
i hear it too😂
wtf thats crazy
right when he says "so" just sounds like a perfect vibrato😂
@@crydar9891 loool ok I just heard it now. Probably just a nervous crack or something

I love your style of composition ! Keep it up, I really enjoy listening to your songs on spotify
I love these vids, man. Even if the format changes up I'm looking forward to your stuff.
3:35 - nail on the head.
Another super video!
6:16 I feel shameless
Could you please do a studio tour and show us what your complete set up looks like. I, for one would love to see it. :D

Hey! I checked out your albums on spotify and I loved them! Really great, refreshing and original stuff! Exactly what I've been looking for : )
Eeeeexcelent. Really enjoyed this one. Hilarious lyrics as well!
As usual, great job, you got a very personal style and i like it a lot. Love this series
Another hit! You're on a roll now. Peace \/.
Great job!!!
Awesome,dude.
Haha!
😎
Thanks for doing this.
man makes neo-romantic Travis Scott beat in 10 mins
Nkozi Cole edited down to ten minutes, but he’s still probably pretty damn fast. Enjoy all of these videos.
@@TundrahSounds heh yeah, it's more like a 2 hour session edited down heavily. (+ extra time for EQ/editing/etc at the end).
once upon a synth still fast :) yet thorough enough. Love all these one synth videos. Love your tutorials as well.

musician + poet
You have some high tier aesthetic. Good shit bro
Pro 2 is such a beast!
Masterpiece!:) I need a Pro2!
Now I know what metro boomin does he uses very high end sounds.
Great video
please do a christmas song using only one synthesizer. that surely would be fire
btw i just found this channel and i'm very impressed!
very nice
This is so fire
right on man keep it coming
That piano patch is so you! sounds so much like your other songs. Find it hard to believe you never created it yourself, would fit right into the christmas song.
Nice lyrics!, keep it going
I'd like to see you do a video using every synth in your arsenal!

Suggestion: You could add this response to the video description. :) I think people would like that. I certainly would, for future reference.
@@onceuponasynth thanks that's a perfect explanation !!
man i really like this one!

OOF this is so good....id LOVE to see you do an against the clock
heh I'd get so stressed out.
@@onceuponasynth i bet you could do it !!! im not sayin its easy but youre so solid ar making tracks !
Your able to sample out of the dsi pro 2??
Once again he killed it

thanks man! Thanks for the suggestion, I'm gonna try to do some vids on structure and my process and stuff.
That sounds like a trap fugue :D i like it!
You are so inspiring to me
With Deepmind 6 or 12? :D
How much do you charge to make a beat/collab? Love your stuff man
Please do a song with a Korg Minilogue!!
What mixer are you using?
I just use the DAW to mix, I don't have a hardware mixer. I plug straight into an iD22 interface.
Fuucking nice! The chorus lead somehow reminds me of old Ratatat!
Can you please make a track/beat using a microkorg?
I would if I had one :)

That's amazing. Not a pro2 fan, hip hop is not my cup of tea either, but I love your song!
This guy really like creepy merry go rounds and circuses
If I could subscribe only one YT channel then it would be the channel about cooking a trap beats using only clasic synths.
I feel kind of dumb asking this, but do you produce psytrance? Those sounds and scales sound really fukin familliar to me
No I don't. I actually don't listen to electronic music much, which is a bit unusual for a synth enthusiast.

Always love the tracks you do....... but the rapping?.....naaaah man.
😆👍👍👍👍
"so paint me on the walls like some cavemen" would've marched the rhyme scheme better. #youliveandyoulearn though
