I have a feeling that Amity is going to cut her parents out of her life. Edric and Emira would follow suit. The reason why I made this assumption is because cutting off toxic family members happens in real life. It is necessary that a heavy issue like this should be shown onscreen to let the viewers know that there are people in the family who are detrimental to one's mental health, unworthy of being part of one's life. I’ve heard quite enough of the excuse, “They’re still your mother/father/brother/sister/etc.”. Toxic is toxic. Children are not the extensions of their parents. They are totally different people. Parents need to stop forcing their opinions and perspectives on their children’s face. If they are not supportive of what their children want to do and want to be, perhaps they shouldn’t be parents in the first place.

But Lilith basically proved those laws are pointless since combining the 4 basics (Fire, Ice, Plant, and Light) in different ways is the only way to actually perform the other magic types. The people are mixing magics without realizing it.
Eh, I feel like he still needs a redemption arc, but he's absolutely got redemption potential and is nowhere near as bad as Odalia. I love him and relate to him a lot, so I really hope he gets his redemption in the future and starts to build a healthier relationship with his kids.

I actually was surprised by Alador’s behaviour (chasing butterflies and being more interested in the demon on bumps head than what’s going on in the room) due to seeing how Edric acted in Adventures in the Elements. Edric definitely takes after his father.
A couple different things were running through my mind when I saw this episode. The more and more depressed and heartbroken Bump got as he kept chasing off Luz, Willow, and Gus, the more I found myself saying, "Aw, Bumpy!" Also, I noticed that Bump had the mark of the Abomination Coven on his left wrist. I was never clear about which coven he belonged to; although the fact that he used abominations in "I Was A Teenage Abomination" probably should have tipped me off. I just always assumed Bump was knowledgeable, or even versatile in all forms of magic because he is the principal of Hexside; but even he is subjected to the coven system. Honestly though, that makes sense considering he seems on the outs with the Emperor's Coven. Maybe the reason Bump had to expel the kids was because as a member of the Abomination Coven, and the Blights' seemingly massive influence in that coven, he had no choice but to obey. I also think it's kind of weirdly adorable that Lilith is acting like a teacher's pet towards Luz in regards to learning Glyph magic. First she becomes best friends with Hooty, and now this. Is she going to start treating King the same way Luz does next? That might be endearing to see. I also love the lore behind the magic system of The Owl House. I'm getting more and more Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood vibes from this show as time goes on, and I'm friggin loving it! I also like Willow's dads. They're tough on her, but they clearly love her and want her to be happy. In regards to Amity's parents, Odalia was just as bitchy as I expected her to be. Alador took me by surprise to be honest. He looked like an overworked burnout with a limited attention span who goes along with his wife's bullshit. I loved it when he put his foot down and told Odalia to keep her word because it shows he has at least some principles. I always figured that abominations were used for military power, but seeing one go full on Clayface was actually pretty cool. I damn near started jumping up and down when Amity crushed her mother's amulet. That was a perfect nonverbal "shut the fuck up" moment if you ask me. Seeing Amity grow braver and more confident is actually one of my favorite parts of this show. That Lumity moment was also endearing as hell. Hearing that statement from the Golden Guard about Belos not wanting his citizens having their own private armies got me thinking about a theory I had a while back about the Blights attempting to overthrow Belos and running the Boiling Isles their way before Belos ultimately returns to take back his throne. It makes more sense that Belos is aware of the threat the Blights and witches like them pose to him. In regards to which Blight parent will most likely be redeemed, I'm going to have to go with Alador. Like I said before, he doesn't appear as heartless as Odalia, and he clearly has his own principles. He also seems more willing to let Amity do her own thing now that he's seen her strength first hand. I'm not saying he's going to win "Father of the Year" anytime soon, but for now, he's a saint compared to his bitch wife. However, I don't think it's out of the realm of possibility for Odalia to be redeemed as well. Although in her case, it might be an open ended redemption. And by that, I mean that her and Amity won't be okay right away, and the show may end with them still having issues they have to work through over a long period of time.

Amity's dad is so interesting I REALLY hope we see more from him. Also, you interestingly drew attention to Odalia's eye gesture _just_ as I was noticing how... extremely piercing her eye colour is. It's the standout feature of her face, unlike most of the characters. I wonder now if that's intentional, actually!
You know what would be cool if she could manipulate her glyph spells, like say if she made a huge light she could turn into a giant hand of light and make it do what she wants that would be cool

Alador was by far the best blight parent cause not only did he support his daughters wishes at the end but he also showed interest in Luz and Amitys little moment plus its funny how intrigued he got by the two flying bugs and Principal bumps hat tail😂☺😊😁
He was still willing to let Odalia kill a 14 year old and played just as much of a part in forcing Amity to cut ties with Willow. He may be better than Odalia, but he's still a crappy parent.

I like this episode because not only was it the first Lumity episode of the season, but we also got to see what Amity's parents looked like, because you know the first appearance they made in the show was in sillhouette form and all that.
I think one of Willow's dads may be a dentist, because behind them you can see a poster that says "home teeth home". My bet is on glasses. idk he just seems more the dentist type to me.

It is kind of odd that the four building block glyphs are ice, fire, plant, and light. Though maybe the fifth one will turn out to be darkness and then it will just be a Magic the Gathering reference hahaha

I feel like the three coloured vials was a reference to amphibia’s three gems especially with the blue vial being half empty like the heart gem being only partially charged
There is a piece of dialogue that caught my interest "maybe luz hasn't found any more glyphs because these are it" so that means from what we saw in the trailer, luz learns new magic by combining glyphs and experimenting! I'm really interested in what glyph combination makes spells like the sleep spell
I think Odalia was threatening to keep a closer eye on Amity/Amity's friends to make sure they never mingle with her daughter again. Also, Alador is more suited for redemption I think.
The depth of the magic system is so huge that it is truly impressive. If you consider that each of the four glyphs likely have dozens of variations like we saw with how the ice glyph can be snow with a few minor changes and how the layout for combining them is simple yet complex you get a truly impressive level of depth. Likely the for glyph circle method is not the limit for how many glyphs in a single circle you can have which if you can then put that circle in another circle you could get some very complex and powerful magic.
The second the idea of a magic school got introduced the producers saw "Our own Hogwarts!" Principal Bump has always been a sweetie, he was covering for Luz about being human and learning all types of magic and he let the trouble kids learn what they want to as well. I love how he juxtaposes most teacher and principal characters. I'm thinking Alador would side with Amity but his motivation is unclear yet, he seems to really like the idea of Amity getting stronger and is willing to let her have friends as a means to do so but if Amity doesn't want what he wants the cracks could so.
At around 7:50 with the three different colored vials I always thought that was a reference to Amphibia and the calamity stones since they are the same colors.
I think the viles in blight manor was a Amphibia easter egg since they are the same color as the calamity gems and the blue vile was only half full like the blue gem while the others were full.
I can definitely see why Dana said all the things she said in her Reddit AMA. I can see why she says that amity's parents appear one way but there's a little more to them than we think. And I also can understand why she has a lot of fun writing out or blight because like she said he is definitely very interesting.

I saw Alador's absent minded actions (i.e. following a butterfly and poking a demon's tail) as analytical. I think he was curious to understand them and quite possibly try and apply these actions and abilities into his inventions in the future.
7:50 as we learn later in this episode there are only four key types of magic bile all coven stemming from them and when you show a more zoomed out shot at 8:15 there is a fourth yellow vial so I think it would make far more sense for the vials to contain fire, ice, plant, and light bile EDIT: I see that the fourth vial is green but I still think this idea holds water
I'm personally am not the biggest fan of the actual story, and it definitely drags a bit in places, but the Lumity development is what will keep me coming on back. And having one of the most comfort casts of all time helps too.
The three vials in the blight house could also be A reference to amphibia, like the gem part, the green and red one are full like how Marcy and shash got their calamity power drained but the blue one is half empty so that could symbolize Anne only draining her power half way. Sorry this theory is so long

Amity's dad is so interesting I REALLY hope we see more from him. Also, you interestingly drew attention to Odalia's eye gesture _just_ as I was noticing how... extremely piercing her eye colour is. It's the standout feature of her face, unlike most of the characters. I wonder now if that's intentional, actually!

You know what would be cool if she could manipulate her glyph spells, like say if she made a huge light she could turn into a giant hand of light and make it do what she wants that would be cool

Alador was by far the best blight parent cause not only did he support his daughters wishes at the end but he also showed interest in Luz and Amitys little moment plus its funny how intrigued he got by the two flying bugs and Principal bumps hat tail😂☺😊😁
He was still willing to let Odalia kill a 14 year old and played just as much of a part in forcing Amity to cut ties with Willow. He may be better than Odalia, but he's still a crappy parent.

I like this episode because not only was it the first Lumity episode of the season, but we also got to see what Amity's parents looked like, because you know the first appearance they made in the show was in sillhouette form and all that.

I feel like the three coloured vials was a reference to amphibia’s three gems especially with the blue vial being half empty like the heart gem being only partially charged
There is a piece of dialogue that caught my interest "maybe luz hasn't found any more glyphs because these are it" so that means from what we saw in the trailer, luz learns new magic by combining glyphs and experimenting! I'm really interested in what glyph combination makes spells like the sleep spell

I think Odalia was threatening to keep a closer eye on Amity/Amity's friends to make sure they never mingle with her daughter again.
Also, Alador is more suited for redemption I think.

The depth of the magic system is so huge that it is truly impressive. If you consider that each of the four glyphs likely have dozens of variations like we saw with how the ice glyph can be snow with a few minor changes and how the layout for combining them is simple yet complex you get a truly impressive level of depth. Likely the for glyph circle method is not the limit for how many glyphs in a single circle you can have which if you can then put that circle in another circle you could get some very complex and powerful magic.

The second the idea of a magic school got introduced the producers saw "Our own Hogwarts!" Principal Bump has always been a sweetie, he was covering for Luz about being human and learning all types of magic and he let the trouble kids learn what they want to as well. I love how he juxtaposes most teacher and principal characters. I'm thinking Alador would side with Amity but his motivation is unclear yet, he seems to really like the idea of Amity getting stronger and is willing to let her have friends as a means to do so but if Amity doesn't want what he wants the cracks could so.

At around 7:50 with the three different colored vials I always thought that was a reference to Amphibia and the calamity stones since they are the same colors.
I think the viles in blight manor was a Amphibia easter egg since they are the same color as the calamity gems and the blue vile was only half full like the blue gem while the others were full.

I really liked this episode. It was cool seeing Amity rebel against her mom and it was nice seeing Luz use the glyphs strategically.

I saw Alador's absent minded actions (i.e. following a butterfly and poking a demon's tail) as analytical. I think he was curious to understand them and quite possibly try and apply these actions and abilities into his inventions in the future.
7:50 as we learn later in this episode there are only four key types of magic bile all coven stemming from them and when you show a more zoomed out shot at 8:15 there is a fourth yellow vial so I think it would make far more sense for the vials to contain fire, ice, plant, and light bile

I think the vials in Alador’s lab is a reference to the music box gems from Amphibia (specifically how the blue gem didn’t fill all the way)
I'm personally am not the biggest fan of the actual story, and it definitely drags a bit in places, but the Lumity development is what will keep me coming on back.
And having one of the most comfort casts of all time helps too.
