So no one‘s gonna talk about the fact that Alex Hirsch has truly gave his best performance in this episode?
RIGHT?
Wow,I never knew 😐😐😐
Yesssss. Truly felt bummed out by his performance.
I can fell that if bill recantated in to king. (Same voice) then I do kinda feel bad for him. Never the less bill is evil overall

This episode: Loss of a parental figure and abandonment issues
Next episode: Mommy issues (again)
It's leading to the secret that bellows is someones mom
Yes because of the description of ep 4
And then after “Keeping up with Affearences”, we’ll probably take a break from the parental conflict until Luz reunites with Camila (possibly in “Yesterday’s Lie”) or when we get more information on King’s Dad and their backstory.
Also, is it just me or does Camila might have a role to play in season 2’s story?
Someone commented this on that Rebecca Rose. I'm not sure it was you.
If it was the titan kings dad was fighting, that would mean king would be really old, or he was in the egg for a really long time, the titan died a long time ago. It's just not adding up
IM A BIG FAN! AND ALSO FIRST :]
*yeah!*
Right Ambrella? It doesn't add up
Yeah cuz based on the time that eda found him he’s about 8 or 9 years old
Well look at how big the titan is, this shows how old a titan would be, and that also means he needs to grow a more complex body so when he grows he isn't crused by gravity, also its a cartoon, let it be

Everyone's assuming King's father either was titan or fought him, but one thing that I think people are forgetting is that the murals all look like different people. Yes they're notably the same type of demon but if you look at the long beard and twisting asymetrical horns on the mural at 6:32 and compare them to the wide bull horns at 7:03 and king's and The Titan's horns which go straight up my impression is that this is not one figure but an entire dynasty of royal demons founded by Titan that King is the last descendant of.
I was thinking along those lines too. It's like we're the only ones who noticed the different horns.
For me I noticed the missing beard lmao
This is actually possible. As it means one of King's ancestors had fought the Titan. And it also means that King's Father could have been confronted by Belos or someone representing him.
Also that could also be another thing that Belos tried to cover up because he specifically mentioned demons couldn’t have been organized (or something)
He was some kind of familiable Warrior like a Warrior that was so respected he was a king king of demons But this is something that was kept Henry scholars of history that's possible that while wife there was more to the story of the boy and I was the most people give credit for we know that the savage ages wasn't all that bad it was a time less recorded and so chaotic but the routine but they gave it up uh believing that order is necessary didn't order to preserve right and disordering and honoring the titans will how was but funding it is most of the time when centuries of this exist there are thousands of years ago hundreds of years ago This was 50 years ago like basically no matter basically your grandparents age

Dude he’s only 8-9 years old. King is a baby. He’s a child. Damn wow.
And he had to find out that what he thought was his life was literally a lie. Poor King. 😭 I really just want to hug him!
@steelhound duncan Eda found him as a baby so he’s like 10 years old maximum
@@duolingobird5081 considering the amount of statues that he built was around I would say it it’s older not to mention we don’t know how long he was asleep in the egg
@@duolingobird5081 Even if she found him 10 years, He most likely might not be a "baby" ( Physically he might be a baby, mental he isn't). It could just be his species ages slowly, he could have been in that egg for many ears, and as he ages, it just happens much slower.
That depends on his lifespan
Our avarege lifespan is ~70 years, so yes, by our standards, he's a child
But King's lifespan can be 10 years or 196350 years. In these situations he's a grandpa or an infant
What would be cool is for the team to release a copy of Luz’s notebook like they did for the journeys in Gravity Falls.
And stars spell book and the book Maddie gave to Sprig in Amphibia
I’m not sure if I’d rather them release that or the history of the boiling isles book. How about both?
At 9:27 You can actually see what looks like one of the Journals from Gravity Falls.
Personally, I think the roar was from when King's father was slain by Emperor Belos. The timeframe would fit better, and would give further reason to spark conflict between the two.
I agree, that makes sense and is good for plot. Maybe kings father refused to give in to belos and lost his life to him?
Eda's remark when she first brought home King and he talked, she sounded surprised he could talk. Which got me thinking. What makes a demon (and by demon I mean all the residents of the Boiling Isles; I'm assuming that all the people on the Boiling Isles are demons of sorts, especially considering Lilith's remark this episode, "the demons were never unified under a ruler until Belos") like a person and not like an animal? We've seen a lot of animalistic demons that talk, but they aren't like people. But we've also seen more animalistic demons that do seem to qualify as a person (that detention track student at Hexside, the one that's like a dog, he's on all fours, I forget his name). The Bat Queen can talk and she deals in currency while also very animalistic, but not really considered a person; I hate to say it, but I'd argue that considering she was a Palisman, she's technically more property than a person. Hooty, well he's a lot of things and is capable of a lot of things, but a person he is not really considered. Fairies can talk and they're considered like either food or pests. If an abomination could talk and has a free will of sorts, would it be considered like a person? Are animalistic demons that can also talk that rare?
Well... I think if the Demon has mind to think the complicated matter and do not follow his instincts on a daily basis, the Demon is considered "Person"
It’s bizarre, because demons and witches kind of seem to be absolutes, with lots of middle ground between them. Boscha is a witch, totally, but she has three eyes, and all the Conformitorium guards are definitely demons, but we see that they can utilize magic just like anyone in the Season 2 trailer. If demons can’t usually do magic that almost makes less sense to me, since they evolved in the Boiling Isles right alongside witches. Wouldn’t they also develop a biological way to automatically utilize magic (the bile sack)?
@@Mayonnaise-m8h I believe that witches and demons can both use magic but in different ways which has yet to be revealed. In this episode it's seen that there's a magical barrier around the tower and the monsters are controlled through magic and since this is where the demon king himself may have resided it can be inferred that demons could in fact use magic as well. What's peculiar though is that, as stated in the video, the emperor and the golden guard use magic which is similar to this. Though the golden guard is a witch Emperor Belos is whole new mystery, but i believe he was somehow connected to Kings father and possibly imprisoning him somewhere.

I can't help but relate with King.
My dad died from Alzheimer's earlier this year. Although, I've known my father forever (moreso than most kids in my generation or otherwise). I can understand personally how it feels to lose a Paternal figure. Good or Bad, we only get one.
King may not be a "King", but I theorize he may related to one

Not even 5 minutes ago, I was thinking, hmm, I wonder when the Roundtable is gonna do a breakdown of Echoes of the Past, big pog.
Theory: this might be a stretch to the “demon intuition” but how does King really know so much about demons, unless Eda taught him he would’ve known on instinct. Doesn’t this make sense because when Eda first turned into the owl beast in season one King immediately assumed she was some kind of demon without any evidence she could be any other race

That episode was amazing! Luz is improving her magic. I get to know King’s backstory but his Father?! It's a 50/50 chance that if he is alive or dead.
I can only presume that King’s dad was the one who killed the Titan and in turn the Emperor having killed/sealed King’s father due to having a connection with the Titan.
Don't think the size matches up
Now that makes sense.
I think its possible king's father is more connected to the titan than belos, you look in the ancient Greek mythos and you will hear of titans being slain by either their own kind or more commonly their children, King's father could've been the son or creation of the titan and perhaps unified demon kind to rebell for unknown reasons.
@@elmago2808 Murals are not always to exact size. Also perspective.
@@Merilirem that could be it, but the titan is probably hundreds and hundreds of times bigger. Also another two things are that the titan is on land, and he fits (there was no land/ very small islands). Also the boilinh isles would have ro be not much older than King, which doesn't make sense.
Already three episodes and this show truly knows how to deliver!
the whole time during the ep, I was theorizing about kings past before it's revealed 😂
Yes which means king was an prince of demons and his dad was an demon lord.
Can't help but notice that the figure fighting King's dad was breathing fire, surrounded by stars, in front of frozen waves, with vines growing around them. That's.. All 4 of the primal glyphs of magic, lending more credence to the idea that it's the Titan
My money is on King’s dad being the one to kill the Titan and create the Boiling Isles. We see the mural of them fighting.
Plus we know the ruins predate any known language to Lilith. Perhaps because it predates the Boiling Isles itself?
My theory goes out to King's father actually being the Titan remains on the Boiling Isles. Mainly because of the horn placement that was shown in the book.
I know the Titans aren't around anymore and what I said would imply that one of them survived, but it's possible that both sides could've been mortally wounded and that the Titan tried to escape and ended up dying somewhere else while King's father perished on what's now known as the Boiling Isles.
Also kings dad won, and survived to make murals of it. I think the roar is from much later
Beth Altair I don't think he made the murals. It might've either been the sentries before they went inactive or maybe someone else entirely.
honestly the biggest issue with that interpetation is that the figure in question is humanoid, while king clearly is more animalistic in form by far. It would make more sense if the giant creature was king's father cause of hsi more bestial appearance.
That means that King was thousands of years in the egg or in the temple and he is still too small like he is still a kid, maybe his species ages as slow as the yoda species?
This is way I think one of the other glyphs in the invisibly spell is ice, as it can be sure to help bend the light. Like a mirror or glass.
I think the monster King's dad was fighting was Emperor Belos in his monster or cursed form. Maybe King's dad was the true ruler of the boiling isles making King a prince.
That makes sense
I absolutely love episode 3, baby King was so adorable i just wanna hug him, i'm glad we finally got some origins for King and i hope they reveal more as the series continues!!
There is one more fact that could be in relation with the carvings of king’s father. In the episode hunting palismens, Emperor Belos shows some moments of crisis where he transform into a beast and starts hysterically hiting on the walls. My theory is, there’s been a fight between Belos (transformed into that beast) and the king of Demons and it has been represented on the wall’s carvings.
Regarding questioning what hooty is, Lilith once reffered to Hooty as a "House-demon". Upon looking it up, the demon hunters in the "Hooty's Moving Hassle" episode also refers to him as that.
I would assume that a house-demon is a demon, but one that is artificially created by witches through magic. Likely used by certain witches as hooty is here, as a built in security system. It feels... anomalous, and unrelated to any of the coven magics. I would assume that since Bellos came into power, they fell out of fashion as non standardized magic was frowened on at best or illegal at worst.
One of the best episodes king Break down was so heart braking
I do think the battle depicted in the mural is a battle between King’s father (or one of his ancestors) and the titan. I do not, however, think that the battle King hears when he’s in the egg is that battle. If it were then that would suggest that king is older than the entire island of the boiling isles as well as every civilization that has ever extorted on it. I don’t think that is the case.
Rather, I think King’s father was attacked by Belos. Either Belos found the island and attacked it to steal something from them, or perhaps he was created on the island. The whole theory of Belos being an abomination isn’t new, and not only does his magic look like the guardian found on the island, but he has the same glowing blue eye as the guardian when Luz breaks his mask. Perhaps his is some sort of abomination gone wrong from that island.
Damn after the new episode this makes believe that the creature king's"dad" is fighting IS king's actual father hell in some depictions the titan hunter depicted have a half moon above them
Since we know king is the titan, we might have been wrong about kings father being the one on the mural, meaning the king looking figure is a titan trapper and he slain kings dad or it is kings dad and the creature he is fighting is what he saw in the Collector as a beast who must be either killed or sealed away.
The color of the magic orb when Lilith used the invisibility glyph is a teal/ light blue which is the color of the illusion track
The reactions to Porta-hootie is without a doubt the best part of this episode new world lore be damned
Even Lilith turned squeamish and mercy only know what horrors she's witnessed in service to Belos!
Im surprised the chunk missing from the top of the tower wasn't mentioned at all
Okay.. so.. We have established that the heart in the Throne room is WAY too small to be the Titians' what if instead - it has to do with King's father?
It would explain more about why Belos has those powers over fleshy goop- especially if he is taking power away from a mighty demon like he does the totems
Can we all agree that Alex Hirsch did a fantastic job with the breakdown scene? The amount of emotion heard in that voice
Every episode that came out of this season is so top-tier. Best episode by far!
Anyone got theories why king always make stacks of objects like what we saw the stack of stones in the castle and the stacks in the owl house.
What is he trying to do?
Is that instinct??
Is he making an army??
I believe so, and I guess if he stayed long enough inside the castle, he would probably have learned how to animate all those objects through pure instinct
@@VIXXlight_VIXXComeBack it could be the shape-shifting creature himself, he seems to act like a butler towards king. Possibly kings father gave him specific instructions to teach his son like "show him how to make a formidable army" "show him how to catch prey on the move" "teach him words to know"
@@neversafefromwaluigi8853 nice :D
would be intresting to se a full grown up king leading an army of those creatures to fight somthing idk the covens, Belos other sentient demon kingdoms if there is any probably not but would be intresting to se king following in his fathers or ancestors footsteps
When Luz is talking to Lilith and Hooty about playing along with King’s fantasy, you can see the dolls behind her and one of the dolls appears to be a reference to Hollow Knight
The demon intuition theory was proven when king instinctively knew the roar he heard meant "son"
Okay breaking down the invisibility spell was super cool. One of soooo many reasons I love the Roundtable c:
The real question we should be asking is "HOW DID KINGS SEVERED HORM GROW IN EXACT PROPORTION WITH HIM?!"
Demon logic
"A battle between the titans and King's people"
"The great battle between his father and the titan"
"The titan being slain may have actually been a result of King's father taking a stand to protect his child"
This aged well :)
If the invisibly glyph is tied to the illusion track the plant glyph is tied to the plant track
So, if King is likely the son of the Titan… then shit, everybody is living in his father’s corpse.
That is super f’d up.
That's what I thought too
That means that King was thousands of years in the egg or in the temple and he is still too much small, maybe his species ages as slow as the yoda species?
My theory: The emperor found out about the Island and attacked Kings dad. The boiling isles is the Titans whole body. King was probably sleeping for millions of years, thats why he didnt notice anything
My guess:
Invisibility = Illusion + Light + Illusion
At least some combination of these two.
Theory: Kings dad was friends with Belos and they slayed the titan together. Then, King’s dad ascended to the throne and became the king of demons and put King on the island to stay safe just in case. Belos got jealous and usurped the throne, slaying King’s dad in the process and erasing all signs of him which is why Lilith isn’t aware of any King of Demons.
the two things I got into this episode are: 1: Baby king is too cute. 2: when that flesh golem wakes up, you know you're in the end game. It's clearly a chekov's gun. (Chekov's flesh golem?)
I never knew king could be cuter then usual but I was dead wrong after seeing season 2 episode 3
God I adore how they are handling the Glyphs. It reminds me of preparing spells in D&D
This reveal falls in line with my theory that Belos actually wants to open a portal to the Titan Realm and doesn't care about the human realm.
(If you are to share this theory, please give me credit. I do believe my theory is original.)
*OFF-TOPIC TO THE VIDEO*
I think The golden guard is Belos' relative/son. In the outro of one of the episodes of S2 (Can't remember the name), We see the golden guard's face. Red eyes and long dusty blonde hair. When we hear the iconic line, "Knock knock, human." As Belos turns, we see long dusty blonde hair. A bit of speculation but I think it fits :)
Edit: It could also be something where you have to dye it when in the coven? But that doesn't fit because, well, Lilith still has her Blue hair and we don't see anyone else in the coven with Long hair, Let alone the familiar dusty blonde color. - And if you look at the two colors of their hair, they match perfectly.
Edit 2: You can also see a small bit of the Golden Gaurd's face in "The Owl House" Intro, if you don't want to scurry the credits of Season 2's episodes :)
I agree, this seems it could be true...
I would laugh if the monster the "king" was fighting in the mural was King's mom.
What I love about the invisibility glyph is that it can be explained by science, even the holding breath thing could be
I love that all magic can be explained by science, including the portal
And yes, I have explained the science behind the portal before and how the characters could create portals to other realms like Amphibia lol

Alex Hirsch did incredible voice acting in this episode!
Especially when King's little break down after Eda tells him the 'truth'
@@infiinity26 Wait-Do you think he could be the King of demons? I mean it could make sense.
To answer the question of how king can always find his home island most animals have a natural compass in their instincts that tell them where their home is so It'd make sense that an animalistic demon like king would naturally be able to find his home island.
No one talking about the little ppl king created look like his Guard 👀
You wanna hear my thoughts? Okay, this episode made me legitimately cry. Alex Hirsch's voice acting was PHENOMENAL this episode and so was the narrative.
On another more serious note, I'm torn between "King's father fought the Titan", and "King's father WAS ANOTHER Titan, warring with the other one, and King being his son is actually a baby Titan." I mean, we don't exactly know what they looked like. Or even if they all looked similar.
This might get buried, but Luz says that he's the King of her heart.
(Hint hint)
A theory that I think could be true is the monster that King's father was fighting was Emperor Belos. Although I can't explain the size difference the lower half of the monster's face is in kind of a round beak shape similar to the creature we presumably see Emperor Belos transform into in the s2 trailer.
I have a big theory about this episode. It is interesting that the Selkiedomus episode came before this, I think the two are related. This episode sets up that by losing a piece of his horn King has lost some of his memories. Well what if Emperor Belos is similar in that regard? He is completely covered, we might assume because he is injured or disfigured in some way. If Belos has lost a piece of himself he may have lost a large portion of his memories and his power (maybe even a huge majority of it if the body of the titan was once his and he is now in a weakened state, say after a fight with King's father.) If he fought the real King of Demons at one point he may know about the existence of his son, but with his injuries can't remember who it is or what they looked like. It makes sense that he would assume that the son of the King of Demons would be large and powerful. So he orders his coven to slay the largest and most powerful creatures in the hopes to take them out before they can grow to full power and pose a threat to him. King may be one of the few individuals with the power to stand up to Belos, once he is grown.
Also I found it interesting that King mentioned the "horrible monstrosity" room. Another word for that might be "Abomination". The creatures guarding the building possessed a lot of similarities to the purple abominations we've seen, just more advanced. They also have the same crescent shaped head of some of the creatures we see on the boiling isles. Maybe they were created in the image of that species and are likely a type of abomination magic. Again it is interesting that the abomination episode came before this one. These ancient creatures seem to use something more flesh like combined with stone as their body instead of the purple slime. And despite being ancient the one we see is much more advanced than even the most advanced abominations made by the Blights. So somehow the secrets of magic have been lost or weakened in some way. Just like the secrets of glyph magic have been lost.
Can we all take a sec to admire baby king with all his cuteness
I don’t think the crash when king was in the egg the battle between the titan and his father, Because I think when king father yelled son like it was his last words and if it was I thought the whole kingdom with have to be captured leaving no one to draw that mural on the wall. But that’s just my guess.
I think the most important part of this episode is the beginning where King is telling Luz that He thinks Françoise is trying to start a rebellion, maybe Belos is a Demon too and he dethroned King's father by tricking and ambush him Outside the tower.
I think kings father put his egg there for a reason so that those boomerang shaped monsters could take care of him until he was older. I think kings dad fought against something so powerful that he went missing!!!
I don’t think that that roar was King’s father battling the Titan bc it was stated that King was found 8 yrs ago by Eda in the episode and Belos rose as emperor of the Boiling Isles 50 yrs ago. Maybe King’s father did slay the Titan but that roar came from another attack
Or the roar was kings father dying from empower belos
@@-Puppet- I definitely bet it was
There is a plot hole in the Kings father is or fought the titan, when he talks about finding his father he said it wasn’t that long ago that it happened when he heard the roar, so I don’t think that the timing fits at least for the fight that happens when he isn’t born he could have still fought him in ancient times as the depiction dictates
He was unborn and went back to sleep. Could have been centuries.
@David Kennedy that’s true but King said in his own words that not much time passed so I figured that either meant it was addressed as an actual fact or for a later reveal that a lot of time passed
And it was said that eda found him 8 years ago..so king is either 8 or 9. Know we know his age...I always thought he was older.
I don't think King's father killed the tuition while King was still in the egg as King is only around 8 years old (maybe 10 at most) and Boiling Isles is very old, personally, I think King's father was fighting Emperor Belos or at least his minions and was either killed or captured, perhaps King's father was turned to stone
Eda only found him 8 years ago. King could have been in the egg and could have hatched WAY before that.
I said in another analysis video that part of this season secret message would be “Seek the King” given the episodes’ titles.
I’m gonna talk wolf guess to say that season 2’s message will be “Seek the King of Demons”
Perhaps, but that suppose code name is 3 letters short, since the total number of S2 episodes is 21.
I still absolutely love the theory that king is bill cipher, it’s a cool thought
Maybe the giant painting of king is actually his past life.
Just thinking
I agree
i mean we heard someone say dad so i don't think this is true
What if the thing that kings father was fighting was Belos in some sort of monsteruas form or just his real body. Some may say that he doesn’t have hair like Belos does but this battle looked like it was from a long time ago and Belos may have had shorter hair. Belos attacking this castle may have been an attempt to erase this place as the people there have an army and may hold grudges against him,
Craig of the Creek 3rd Season Finale:
Capture The Flag Breakdown!
Just so you know in kings backstory when king is in his egg in the background you can hear a faint heartbeat. The only other place where you hear a heart beat like that is from the emperor covin/home. You even see the giant heart that makes these sounds. Idk why but this feels important to me.
King is titan
Since people are pointing out similarities to the flesh stone monster ie Jean-Luc, and Belos. What if Belos was one of those things and defected? Like Kings dad made a bunch of them and one of them started defecting etc?? Could explain the blue eye connection. Also the Horns on Belos' mask since the also go up like the corners of the stones but that's a much weaker argument imo. Another thought too is I assume King heard the title of King in reference to his father at some point, because the way he responded when Eda said it made me think of recognition not just liking the word. So maybe he has more memories locked away in regards to his dad and his dad being called King in some capacity
this doesn't change the fact that he could be Bill, like after Stan punched him outta Gravity Falls (probably) he regenerated and became.. that adorable beach peach
If TOH happens during 2019, the eight years ago where Eda met King would be circa 2011, the year before GF. So kinda interfering unless you consider a 'time warp' thing like with Shermie.
@@vincentmorris8431 we don't really know when it was taking place tho

@@justyourlocalcommeterd1986 Admittedly yes, 2019
is basically a big guess I'm going off of; the first episode completed in July 2019, and summer of 2020 didn't actually exist when the show premiered in January. We have an outdated fidget spinner joke, so that sets 2017/8 at most. I'm hoping we get some concrete dates and birthdays eventually
Omg hearing you say that King technically has an army just gave me clarity! Anyone remember last episode where they were hinting at Belos trying to make an abomination army??? I'm seeing a huge war incoming and I'm sooooo here for it!
This episode explains why King has an irrational fear of Luz leaving him and his constant desire for attention: The poor little guy has deep-seeded abandonment issues.
It couldn't have been the titan.
It was probably belos killing kings dad for his heart.
This was one of favorite episodes!
Same
@@idkwhatiwannanamethis1563 Honestly for a guy who also has a YT channel, I know The Roundtable are going to have a lot of theories on this.
Kings dad fighting the titan doesn’t make a lot of sense when you factor in that the Titan died long before king hatched, given that king is roughly 8. I personally think that kings dad was fighting Belos, possibly not for the fist time. In the carving of kings dad fighting something, I think it’s belos in his monster form shown out of shot in the season 2 trailer
It's funny how wrong this is
One other thing question about the invisibility spell. Why do they have to hold their breath for it to work?
After this episode, I don’t think the titan is king’s father or enemy. I think the Titan carcass we see is an ancestor who died and from there, the species progressed to what we see kings father as. I also so this isn’t the titan in the depiction as I think the titan could surive a spear going through them. Plus the hole in the roof of the tower we see king and co go to doesn’t add up to the potential damage the titan could/would cause. Also, I think kings father is just as big as the owl house was in “Hooty’s moving hassle,” therefore, I don’t think he would stand a chance against the titan. Another thing I want to add on is, I think King also ages slower compared to witches and humans. As an eight year old, he still looks like a toddler, so I think he could very well live over 100 hundred years easily.
I loved this episode, King has been my favorite character in the series since day one, but maybe I should start calling him Prince now ;)
I believe that island of king’s is a “Appears only to ones who looks for it” Eda found it while looking for “A place to hide from the emperor” and king just searched for his “home island” . This place will definitely be important, either as an hide-out and/or information.
We do know now King is 8 years old. This episode blew away some of my theories, but opens up new ones. Hope we learn more, but feel he may be the son of the other monster on the walls in a way like Piccolo in DBZ, but no fast aging.
8+ years old because we have no idea how many years it was before King and Eda met.
@@leonardodiaz5162 Might be 9 as he was still kind of a baby when Eda meet him. Also wonder what happened to make Eda's hair go all white? 8 years I feel not do that unless something big happened to cause her hair to change so fast. Also Shocked she had short hair. I wonder why?
7:09 so maybe the collector is inside the star on the monsters chest. That’s crazy if he can make a kaiiju. Wouldn’t doubt it though.
This video is old I know and idk if anyonebelse has guessed this, but maybe Hootie is like a Palisman? What are the rules to how a staff can be shaped? Could you argue the Owl House is a really big staff that Hootie is mounted inside of? Probably way off, but heyyy that's just a theory.
Coming back for this after S2E17, a lot of things made sense now.
