Yes to sponsorships if you can keep your integrity and keep on delivering quality vids as you have for all this time. Only you two know if you can do that.
If you both agree something makes boat life or home 🏡 life easier. Jolly 🐾 and I are all for the idea 💡 of sponsors. There's a lot of new enjoyable products that help everyone. Love William and Jolly 🐾
Monel wire is a nickel/copper alloy with small amounts of other elements. I've said no to cleaning products for decades. This might be part of the reason I'm single :)
Should you say yes… absolutely! You are providing valuable information and entertainment while others are paid working behind their desks. Just accept products you would use or agree with yourself. 👍🏻
Yes to the sponsorships. I watch plenty of channels with paid sponsorships. If I don’t want to watch the ad, I skip through it. It’s not difficult. I certainly wouldn’t unsubscribe or not watch because of it. You guys put out excellent content and deserve to make money where you can, without judgment from others. Your loyal watchers will stick with you no matter what! Just keep it real!
I like your videos, very balanced. They are not just hard core sailing or endless repairs, You do land hikes and other city visits that gives your videos a more mature view of what people want out of life when sailing without shying away from the realities and time consuming maintenance schedules of your boat to keep you safe. The point Nick made several time about safety wire shackles was detailed and important information that is often over looked.
Hey guys, another enjoyable video. Being former military, I notice things. First, when you are going to hike in a hot climate, please hydrate prior to your beginning, it will drastically improve your performance and stave off fatigue. Next, Nick get the pack higher on your shoulders, the higher you carry it, the easier the load will be. Good luck, and enjoy a frosty beverage for your hard work. Cheers!
I’m a non-patreon, non-member viewer. I do most of the time, watch the TH-cam-adverts in full in order to let channels I like have at least a few pennies. I find that, of course, I do like a video without adverts a lot more! Depending on how you do things, it can be ok. The Wynn’s adverts for example are usually not too painful tu watch. But still sometimes something to click over … So: Thanks for not having sponsorships and I do support that (morally). But since I am not a Patreon, I wouldn’t be mad, if you did.
I watch you because I enjoy your interaction and opinions. That will not change if you can make a buck off of sponsorship's. Typically I'm all for people making a buck where they can.
Say yes. Pick your sponsors and maintain creative control. Choices may be tough to make. A sponsored 510 Signature for the same price as a 1370, not a tough choice but not likely either. Good luck getting good products and good deals.
I agree with Val. I’ve been watching for a couple years and almost feel like ‘our boat’ is coming. That’s the way I know I love the show. Stay honest and true to yourselves and your friends will stick with you if you choose to look at sponsorships. I would look at this as another level of success. Just don’t sell yourselves short.
I’d say yes to sponsorships. Find companies that you already support and then it makes it a more authentic message. You have a wealth of knowledge that not many people have. Because of that, we look to you for advice.
Sponsorship: we appreciate that you’re not promoting sponsored products during the episodes. However, as a Patreon of your channel, we would completely understand and continue to watch and support your videos if you need to bring on sponsors. I’m sure they would be of the highest quality. Thanks for the great videos and story.
Should you take sponsor $? Absolutely, I trust you 100%, you deserve sponsorship, you both are wonderful, creative, interesting, intelligent sailors and I appreciate you and your content. Thank you so much for sharing. Best wishes, and safe journey.
Among my friends there are a few people who put the effort in to find out which brand/version/type of something is best. This saves heaps of time. If you have done this, as you have with the Cat build, then being paid for an informed testimony seems perfectly legit to me. Flagging an endorsement is the honourable thing to do.
Speaking as one of your Patreon's I say jump at the chance for sponsorship! 90 seconds is no big deal, you guys put out great content and ought to get paid for it. Thanks as always for sharing.
Yes, but remember it is your integrity on the line. So only indorse products or services you actually have history with. If you do this you will get the funds to continue your great videos and your viewers will respect your choices.
I'd go with a BIG NO on taking money -- My website had banner ads for years and yes it bought me 6 Hawaiian vacations over the years BUT they owned me - Now I proudly operate several popular websites that have no amazon links, sponsorships, click bait, junk content -- Now, if occasionally you were featuring 100% marine content or testing out GPS systems, comms, that is another matter. OR (Like "Babish"...) have unique one-off sponsors for an episode. Don't try yourself down - don't give up your freedom! Love your channel!
Had some of the best times on Hamilton. Thank you for rejecting the sponsorship offers, although I am sure the ads would have been hysterical. "Its not just a floor wax, its also a dessert topping!"
Sharing the beauty of the world, the joy of laughter (it even "cleans the unseen!") is a wonderful legacy and much appreciated gift you both create each week. Thanks for all the extra effort, time, thought, and hospitality that you put into your amazing videos! 🥇🏆
go for it , you have bills to pay and make sure you do take only things you can live with but beyond that its a thing saying hey heres this thing doenst push you negatively keep smiling
Spent a week across the water from Hamilton Island in Canne Australia. FANTASTIC country. Couldn't have had a better time. Thanks for the view from the other side ;)
Why not? A lot of people turn to TH-cam and the like to get away from the constant barrage of commercials on cable TV, at least in the US. But, creating video entertainment isn't free. Having a sponsor that helps you provide content is fine if it's a once per episode thing that's not too long. Your viewers are a relatively sophisticated lot and understand how the real world works. I say go for it!
The trick to removing the excess end of a tie-wrap is to twist it off with a set of pliers where it comes through the eye, it will give you a smooth , and not sharp end.
On paid sponsorships.... I signed up for premium TH-cam to avoid their ads so, clearly I'm not a fan of advertisements but I'm not running away from great content because of them and yours is some of the greatest. (Heaven for me was you visiting the Wynns.) Anyway, my vote is that you do what you feel; most comfortable doing. You won't hear me casting any aspersions, either way.
From someone who worked in aviation somebody needs to look at lockwire standards. If you use zip ties use sidecuts with the inside V pointing facing you. Push the zip tie down with the sidecuts as you pull on the part to be cut off. when you cut the pressure should allow the tab to be pulled into the block.
Monel is a group of nickel alloys, primarily composed of nickel (from 52 to 67%) and copper, with small amounts of iron, manganese, carbon, and silicon
Watch you guys every week. Love your content, and your humor. Been a subscriber for years. Where you are now is gorgeous. Looking forward to "OUR" new boat. Thanks so much for sharing your lives with all of us.
I hate using SS shackles and even worse the galv variety. You loose the first, and can undo the other. Whenever possible I use soft shackles, moving with the times if you know what I mean! Wire is a must.
I say there are 3 points, 1- sponsor only what you support/use, 2- make it clear that it is a shill, it doesn't have to be in your face obvious, but make it clear, 3- work it into the video. I will happily watch an ad that flows with the video, or is 'product placement', also, placards at the beginning or end of a video are cool. I would suggest seeing how SuperTruckerDan (Dorsey Trailers), and Larson's Farm (AgriChemical) do their sponsorships, smooth and unobtrusive. Anyone who thinks YT videos are free is being silly. You get what you pay for, and watching a few ads to see quality content never bothered me (Except commercialized Dr Who episodes)
Re lower shroud tension, the ultimate requirement is that the mast must stay 'in column' when fully loaded. On our S38 the leward lowers are quite slack when beating hard to windward, but that's fine as the mast remains in column. When doing routine checks, I would add checking the nuts on the stern gland if you have a stuffing box type stern gland - having noticed an increased rate of dripping through our stern gland I was appalled to find that both pairs of nuts were loose (after being re-packed by Northshore this spring...). Your current format is great, without sponsorship - the best of any of the sailing channels I have seen - so keep up the informative entertainment. If you have to go to sponsorship - 90 seconds per week of the same product week would be a distinct turn-off; a different product each week would be preferable.
First of all, I can get long winded on this question. So the short answer, why would you not say yes to sponsorship? i need to remind everyone that your production quality is on par with anything on network tv. Especially, show me a network travel show as well done or as engaging as your show. Your content is a good as the Stubbens (Nahoa), and you are much better producers. If you can stay in control of your content and keep "Bringing over there, back home to me" n, and I don't see a downside to sponsorship. It's working for the wins and their show has not changed much. I can see that hey have hung on to their patreon base, and for those of us that cannot afford to pitch in like that stopping to hear who is paying our way into your world is nothing. I already suffer through as much of the youtube's 15 minute ads on your show as i can stand, to try to do my part to keep you on air. ,I am always amazed that you can keep going on what TH-cam doles out. for you guys its better than average, but still not your potential.
They're obviously taking sponsorship money... They only pose this question so you lot will say "yes do it" and they can point to that later on when people complain
Yip just take the money enjoy yourselves maybe increase quality and output frequency. Your not selling out unless you're taking money from human trafficking or the sponsor is breaking your moral codes in some way.
My two bits on sponsorships... If it results in an income source that helps keep you guys doing what you love without it being a huge hassle, do it (If it's in the same spot on the vid each time I find it less annoying) and if I'm not interested, I can just click off the volume a minute and go get a cup of tea.
Thank you guys for yet another lovely video. I say go for it with the sponsorship. I have every confidence in your ability to embrace it in your own unique way without diminishing the quality of video or the insight into the thoroughly engaging dynamic between you two. In fact I look forward to your no doubt quirky/humourus/ guileless approach.
Yes I enjoyed your video and seeing the views from your walk. I just enjoy the variation of your Videos from walking a distant city, or wild life area, or climbing a hi peak and yes even you both getting lost for a moment or two.
If it's a Lagoon 450 you'll know when your stays are properly tensioned when your amas twist and your bulkheads crack. Constant loud creaking noises that are completely different on both sides of the boat are a good sign of proper stay tension - and pending disaster. On the serious side, I'd be a bit concerned about a catamaran that you can't properly tension the stays. Maybe the bulkheads can't take it. And plastic coated electrical wire can replace cable ties without causing galvanic problems. Solid core, not stranded wire wraps well.
Sponsorship will enable you to step up your production, provide greater content, update equipment and so much more. I believe the pros outweigh the cons
If you feel the need for extra money go for it! However, cleaning products are perhaps not as exciting as a good beer! Time stamps so we can jump past the cleaning going directly for the beer is my proposal!
I think paid sponsorships are good as long as they are done in a certain way. For example stopping the episode to plug a product ussually leads to people skipping or exiting the video, I think it should be incorporated in ways like when zatara use cabrinha kiteboarding equipment or when the wynns show how a VPN can be useful on a boat when they have internet access trouble or having a mantus anchor on the boat in a storm. Kind of like the coke can in the background approach.
Yes to sponsorships if you keep it authentic and not to intrusive, especially if it helps continue to bring new content. Target products and services that you use a lot that are in line with the channel. In fact, take it another step and message/call companies of products and services that you absolutely love that are related to ask if you give them a shoutout in your videos - Don't be shy! Don't forget amazon product affiliates... feel free to link products that you love and swear by in the description. Its a more subtle way of sponsorship, and a win-win for everyone if: 1. We find a product you've already battle tested 2. We love it 3. You got paid to recommend it
I think paid sponsorships are totally fine, if you meet several conditions: The product or service is reasonably related to sailing. You truly sincerely believe the product/service is a good value. You incorporate it smoothly and tastefully into your videos. And be clear with the transition to/from sponsored content.
I subscribe to 3 channels only, primarily because I enjoy watching a varied array of material. Being honest, if Nick was able to keep me informed on the mighty Bolton Wanderers, I could limit that to 2. I sit down on Tuesday morning's and relax watching your video's. If that involved sponsorship, that would not deter me from watching. If that money enabled better equipment, and an additional budget to show us some more expensive area's of the globe (Monaco for example), then I certainly would be in favour.
Terysa, first off, thanks for creating content that is actually enjoyable to watch. If you didn't create stuff that was enjoyable, I wouldn't, and in a couple of cases, didn't watch your videos. But, for the most part, I do enjoy them, they are well put together, fun, and I love the interaction between you two. Even with hearing aids, as I get older, I find it harder and harder to understand people, and there are times when I can't understand a word Nick says (no offense, Nick, it's me, not you). As to sponsorships. I've seen some pretty good sponsorship bits in videos. Dylan O'Donnell, another Aussie, does some great stuff for his sponsors, and he does astrophotography. I think Jason and Nicky do all right with their sponsors, also. My two cents is, if you like the sponsor, believe in their product, and are true to yourself about what you say about them, then you an fel good at the end of the day about having a paid sponsorship. If you can't, in your own heart, feel good about it, then don't do it.
Definitely a yes. Consider regulate a no-responsibility clause and a specific time period when your not supposed to comment on the advertised products in your promotion contract. Avoid contracts that limit promoting competitors adverts.
You've worked hard to build your channel with quality content. You deserve to get paid nothing wrong with monetizing your content. Some have done incredible creative marketing with honest creativity. Uma comes to mind with Tika creating an alter ego character very entertaining
Product placement with goods/services you love is a match made in heaven - why not? You are professional sailors/youtubers, gotta graft to get. Hello form the London Landlubbers ; - ) x
I am split on the yes / no on sponsorship. But, I for one like the unbiased content, and the refreshing escape of watching your videos minus the sponsors advertisements. So, I guess I am leaning more to the no sponsorship option.
Yes to sponsorship, the fact is I can always skip though it (oops probably shouldn't admit that!) BUT check out an English Ferrari resto channel called Ratarossa. That guy is so creative and I love watching some of his sponsorship ads because he gets his partner involved (very much British humour, always the best)! Bit of Aussie/Brit humour never hurt anyone eh?
On sponsoring - go for it BUT The Wynn’s do Omaze, Vagabond do Audio books, others, Sailing Uma, do the learning platforms, courses on video editing, electrical, O’ Kelly’s coffee and flushing diesel maintenance etc… choose wisely, ☕️, if it’s not buy, buy, buy but promoting worthwhile sponsors’ services or products - go for it - we viewers might learn something 🏴☝🏻🌈❤️🧠🍷
Making money is a right, not a privilege. So long as we the viewers understand when you're speaking on behalf of your sponsors you're good to go. For obvious reasons, it pays to keep the truer nature of your videos uppermost.
Sponsorship... Ugh. In reality it depends on the sponsor, & what you're asked to do. The Wynns have a couple of sponsors, but it's stuff they would pay for themselves. If it's a product you actually use & believe in, or a cause you feel strongly about no big deal. You also don't have to have a sponsor for every video. You could try every 3rd or 4th video. You might consider letting the local tourism department sponsor a video, and you could talk about all the neat tips & tricks available thru their website. For instance, I got a great tip about Grand Cayman... If you snorkel, & want to do Eden Rock, check the port authority website, & go when no cruise ships are in port. It's a completely different experience. Fish don't like the "life support" engines on a cruise liner, which are always on. They head for deep water, & you will see nothing. In the end sponsorship or not is your choice, but I don't think the occasional plug for something you use & believe in would be a bad thing. Relentlessly flogging useless crap would be a very different story. Cheers.
Not only will dissimilar metals plus salt water create a battery, but if you add a few coconuts, you can make a radio.
I saw the Professor make one once.
Yes to sponsorships if you can keep your integrity and keep on delivering quality vids as you have for all this time. Only you two know if you can do that.
Thanks mate! That's kind of why we say no to a lot of them (ie, cleaning products!). We don't feel that it's inkeeping with our authentic content.
If it is about sailing why not.
If you both agree something makes boat life or home 🏡 life easier. Jolly 🐾 and I are all for the idea 💡 of sponsors. There's a lot of new enjoyable products that help everyone. Love William and Jolly 🐾

Should you say yes… absolutely! You are providing valuable information and entertainment while others are paid working behind their desks. Just accept products you would use or agree with yourself. 👍🏻
I totally agree about the cable/zip ties. Only good for short term or temporary use.
I'll use a zip tie for a "permanent install" with computer hardware setup & not much else.
Yes to the sponsorships so long as it is authentic to you guys and you genuinely like the product!
Yes to the sponsorships. I watch plenty of channels with paid sponsorships. If I don’t want to watch the ad, I skip through it. It’s not difficult. I love your vibe no matter what. I like how the Wynn’s do their sponsorships so if you can mimic those, it would be fine!
YES, YOUS PUT THE GRAFT INTO YOUR VIDEOS SO DONT BE MAD BY NOT TAKING THEM. 🏴
Even though I am not trapped in my apartment anymore, I still love that you share your travels with us! Thank You!
Thanks so much mate. Glad you’re free!

I watch you because I enjoy your interaction and opinions. That will not change if you can make a buck off of sponsorship's. Typically I'm all for people making a buck where they can.

Monel ~ 66% nickel and ~31% copper are corrosion resistant. Love the hiking footage. Love all your videos
And the fact that you replied with a ❤️ so quickly is an example how how engaged you are with your TH-cam friends. Enjoy your morning tea. Cheers
Yes, the view is absolutely worth it. We enjoyed the hike as well. Did it in April.
No worries about sponsorship. I’d like more tech time with Nick, or a guitar interlude. And of course anytime spent with the lovely Tyresa is welcome.
I’d say yes to sponsorships. Find companies that you already support and then it makes it a more authentic message. You have a wealth of knowledge that not many people have. Because of that, we look to you for advice.
Sponsorship: we appreciate that you’re not promoting sponsored products during the episodes. There are CARAMEL TIM TAMS????? You guys have everything great in Australia. Also, ticketyboo may be my favorite word Nick says.
🙏
go for it , you have bills to pay and make sure you do take only things you can live with but beyond that its a thing saying hey heres this thing doenst push you negatively keep smiling
Just do Fireball ads no matter if they pay you or not! That's actually something I'd love to watch.
Hahah it would be our pleasure!
Always enjoy Nick sharing his wisdom and or humor is priceless
Spent a week across the water from Hamilton Island in Canne Australia. FANTASTIC country. Couldn't have had a better time. Thanks for the view from the other side ;)
I love you guys. That episode was refreshing. It shows us a glimpse into what a boaters life might look like….
Ads are ok sometimes if you believe in the product. And OF course if the $ is right..... IF it helps you then why not :)
I just love the choices of music you use throughout your videos!
Thanks mate
Triangles, xylophones and glockenspiels should be banned lol.

What a wonderful view waking up and that's what you see, just imagine owning a home with that view it's like owning a priceless jewel beautiful.

the fact you even asked is enough. yes, ya’ll totally should. we all gotta hustle somehow.

I’d rather listen to you talk about a product you believe in than watch what ever TH-cam thinks I might buy.
I always enjoy your episodes!! The hike was brilliant!
Yes
Nice hike, thanks for sharing your travels 👍
Great episode guys, Very enjoyable. Fair winds and following seas Ruby Rose.
You need to look up the Australian tv drama Sea Patrol. I think it was based around that region.
It's on youtube in some countries.
Sponsorship will enable you to step up your production, provide greater content, update equipment and so much more.
I believe the pros outweigh the cons
Thanks mate, we’re going to be more open to it
As others have said as long as you approve of the sponsor/product go for it, not going to bother most folks. 😎🇺🇸
If you feel the need for extra money go for it! However, cleaning products are perhaps not as exciting as a good beer! Time stamps so we can jump past the cleaning going directly for the beer is my proposal!
Yes, good episode good views and good Nick advice. Thanks for sharing.
Its a more subtle way of sponsorship, and a win-win for everyone if:
1. We find a product you've already battle tested
2. We love it
3. You got paid to recommend it
Lovely video you two. Nice mix of sight seeing and boat stuff and nice music.
Cheers

Dream Chaser
Yes I enjoyed it very much thank you
I think paid sponsorships are totally fine, if you meet several conditions: The product or service is reasonably related to sailing.
Thanks so much Gary, love hearing this feedback 😊
Has to be your decision whether to accept sponsorship - I watch for your content so provided it’s still there, no complaints from me
I did enjoy this video and I am impressed with the boat as a charter boat, it looks brand new, so that's really nice!
It’s in really good condition, I think it’s a few years old
Beautiful hike and views. Would be interesting to get a closer look at some of the obviously very expensive homes on the sea cliffs.
LOL!! Love the ending!! That was awesome! Cheers!
Kika
Paid Sponsorship ? ... Hell Yes but try to keep it relevant ! Nicks Pedometer seems to be extraordinarily accurate !! Stay Safe & Fair Winds !!
Hey Nick....how did the engines perform ?? Did you have to constantly add coolant or oil.... Did they run properly ??
Making money is a right, not a privilege. So long as we the viewers understand when you're speaking on behalf of your sponsors you're good to go. For obvious reasons, it pays to keep the truer nature of your videos uppermost.
Thanks for that my friend
Cheers.
The view!! The view!! Awesome!
Thanks Kelly!
How is RR2 coming along? Any good progress? And Hello from south central Thailand.
We've got a video update coming in a couple of weeks!
