@raquelra5878 The more I age the more important balance is to me. One day some family members will no longer be with us and it just made me think that the one thing I would regret is spending too little time with them. It is easy to share some personal experiences with you and some others on this channel. It's been like finding a global group of amazing friends, enriching my life even more. Yes, this thing earns some money, but it really isn't my priority. It also provides a haven, a place to discuss interesting and thought-provoking topics, learn new things or just enjoy chatting with lovely people. I am very glad to hear that you have the same in your life and that you are following your dad's path as much as possible. That takes courage, but it really makes life much more beautiful and gives us joy in living. ❤❤❤ @kellyt5341 mentioned other stuff by Ren. So far, what I think you might like is "Back on 74 / Message In A Bottle" or "Bongo Bong". It's fun, good music and doesn't require a huge analysis. Just joy. 😊 It is my understanding that there is more he did with the The Big Push, like Englishman in New York, so maybe dive into those. He does a very good voice when he decides to sing.
If we look at the progression of the Money Game series, i feel Ren has brought the issue back to his own family. His sister is indeed a light to the world. And money without love is irrelevant Regarding his shoes, some of his most severe symptoms are neuropathy, pain and burning and tingling in his feet and legs. I would just never begrudge him anything he wanted to wear there. He makes the statement with his thrift store wardrobe.
Yeah, this does feel like the closing of the Money series and you have a point - he brought it full circle. I hadn't even noticed the shoes and no one is really immune to good quality shoes unless they want to have "bad quality feet", so even though I'm prone to criticizing some details, this did not seem relevant or I was just not focused enough as I am most of the time. It was rather fast paced, to my defense. 😉 Then someone mentioned second hand shopping, so I didn't think it relevant enough to delve into. Let's see where Ren's road goes, no need to jump to conclusions either way...
Top notch reaction, Aleks. I've never heard this song before, but like always, Ren is saying things the way that things are. He is real and honest enough to do that. A trait he shares with quite a few other rappers as well, but somehow I can relate more to the lyrics when it comes from him. I see no hidden agenda, which I love. All the struggles he HAS been through, and still battles, has probably made him stronger as a human being, more real and honest. With real values. Wisdom bought for a heavy price (hopefully he will endure and come out on the other side EVEN stronger), but maybe, just MAYBE worth it somehow? I doubt that Ren himself will agree. He has shared a lot with his fans, but I firmly believe that the roughest stuff still resides inside of him, not rent free. Still, what I maybe appreciated the most here, was YOU sharing a bit from YOUR life as well, hearing that your own experiences resonate so well with Ren's message. Choosing family over money will always be the right choice, albeit not the easiest one to make. Wanting more is a real thing, that's for sure. Call it greed if you will. And/or the hunt for self approval and esteem. Ego values. We see it all the time, more and more, all over the world. And we need people more than ever to call it out. So GO! Ren. And GO! Aleks😊 Love from a shark sometimes in deep water. To my defense I really NEED to take water over my head, and I sometimes bite more than I can chew. It's my nature. A Scorpio Sharkster. Scary combo. And his birthday is tomorrow, same as RAYE 🙂 Much love from Norway ♥♥♥♥♥
Thank you so much, Sharkster! Ren's message so resonated with me as it does take courage to choose what is most important. It's possible to make a mistake, but the key for me is that once you make the choice no matter what it is, that you don't regret making it even if all goes awry. So, what Ren says here is pretty much that all humans, if they want to, can find balance between the "temptation/greed" and the important stuff i.e. their own self / their conscience / their values/integrity and ultimately there is never a good reason to sell our souls for money. It's very much ok to want more, as long as we don't walk over graves to get it. Being a Leo myself, believe me I understand greed/ego and all that. But, wisdom helps beat it down at times - at most important times in our lives. I see you're now taking @Hundhammer's side with RAYE, but you have a serious reason there. Happy Birthday, dear Scorpio Sharkster! ❤❤❤

@poolhallshark Now that it is actually your birthday, a real congrats are due: I wish you health, happiness and that all your wishes come true! ❤❤❤ You've picked an excellent way to celebrate! I hope your wife enjoys it with you, but even if it's not exactly her choice of music, I'm sure you'll have fun. My husband once went to The Cure concert with me. He still isn't a great fan of them, but he laughed and laughed at how engaged I was - I was one of the rare people there who kept screaming their songs at the top of my lungs. As for Eivor, I am strangely attracted to Trollabundin / Spellbound that @larryc3860 suggested, so once I get to her it might just be my first choice. I think it's the sound of the word that makes me inquisitive about it. Still, I added Falling Free in your name to the list. Thank you!
Thank you for letting me know. I had all the notifications on, as I really am subscribed to all artist channels I've ever reacted to (if there is a channel), but nothing came through. 😊
Your reaction and expression when Ren was singing Some word between verb and noun. I think he might have been saying "verb conjugate the noun". I could not find that comparison in my grammar book. Not sure what word actually said or meant. I was confused also. His pronunciation confused me. I thought he said "consummate", which is used both as adjective and verb. He said "adding action to a thing" I slowed the video down half speed. Meaning that money is used and passed around and spent as an action, yet the word money is a noun, a thing and object. One piece of money or millions? What I did find about a verb and money: The verb you use with the word "money" depends on whether the amount of money is specific or vague: Specific amount: Use a singular verb. For example, "Five dollars is a lot of money". Vague amount: Use a plural verb. For example, "Millions more were spent on training future factory workers" "Money" is a mass noun, which means it's treated as a noncount noun and doesn't have a plural form. However, in some cases, "money" can be pluralized as "moneys" or "monies". For example, when referring to discrete sums of money from a specific source or allocated to a specific cause. Some verbs related to money include "spend," "save," "invest," "make," "deposit," and "withdraw". Any grammar students of teachers out there hearing this? :)? ♥ Or a linguist? Curious minds like to know things. LOL
You know what's really ridiculous? I actually studied to be an English teacher / translator, but language grows and changes. Also, there's poetic freedom, so it's not always easy to understand what the writer meant exactly. Supposedly, he's saying "Money makes a man's verb consummate the noun, 'Cause an action to a thing is inspired by the pound or the dollar" though I'm pretty sure I also heard "conjugate" rather than "consummate". I guess only Ren can tell us what he really meant, but personally I think that men take various actions motivated by money alone and are capable of great destruction of people or things (all nouns) for love of money. Thankfully, the general meaning of the song is rather clear. 😊 Thank you so much for sharing your input on this and I hope I'm making some sense in trying to untangle the real meaning. ❤
@@AleksReacts Hi, thanks for your input and reply. It was a head scratch-er for sure. :) We both heard similar things. I think I will just go with poetic freedom for the song. I wrote a lot of poetry in my younger years, enough for a book, but I guard it and hide it. Not sure how many times I may have used words only just to rhyme, but at least I made sure it's context was correct. I would re-read all my words and used many books for interpretation and definitions, logical to illogical during the process. I haven't written anything new in over 40 years. But words and the English language, being an American, is a befuddling language. I am amazed how so many foreigners learn it better than most natural born Americans. :) Sad to say I only remember tiny bits of Jr. High school Spanish. Even smaller amount from high school of German class. I love words and love them more when used correctly, pronounced correctly. I get irritated listening to news castors say a word and I grit my teeth when it is not said correctly. I am an absolute idiot in mathematics, numbers make me nervous, but words excite me. I read a lot growing up, the last few years my eyes/vision has stopped the page turning now. Thankfully there are audio books, but they just don't satisfy me the same way. Thank you again for response, I sure would love to talk to Ren about it. For now his health and well being is way more important than one word from a fantastic song. Live, love, laugh... and my best to you. ~Ada from south Florida
I'll say this much: don't guard or hide your poems. I'm not a poetic soul, but there are many out there they may connect to deeply. If Ren had the guts to go for it, why not you as well. ❤ Ren does tend to explain his lyrics from time to time, so we'll likely found out at some point or other what he really meant. As for languages, ours is much tougher than English, so it's relatively easy to learn English for a Slav, the grammar is so much easier, but spelling is hard as we spell everything exactly how we pronounce it (e.g. KS in my name would be X in English, but in Serbian it is written as it is said, each sound has its own letter and we have 30 letters). In Latin script some letters consist of two characters such as lj or nj, but in Cyrillic those would be one character each љ and њ. So, English grammar - easy, sounds - easy, spelling - oh, man. 🤣 Accents are also not hard to pick up, we have many in our small country, so you get used to hearing the same word in many different accents. I guess it's just a big more homogenous in each state in the US, so it's harder for the ear to get used stuff like that when we grow up hearing very similar sounds all our lives. We also start leaning at least one foreign language by the age of 6 or 7 at the latest. That sure helps. Sorry for the blabbering, but it sounds like we're both somewhat language nerds, so I hope this won't bore the socks off you. 😊 Love to both you and Florida (a flowery name to enjoy)! ❤❤❤
I don't like rap, probably because you can't understand the words (I don't understand them, too fast) or maybe because the music is almost always made of sampled sounds (maybe because it's not essential because the lyrics are more important), but a couple of things come to mind about this song: the first is that I find it unoriginal, reading the lyrics I find references to Money by Pink Floyd; the second is about Ren's shoes, the frequent and close-up showing of the Nike logo is linked to the protest content of the song (therefore scenographic) or did he take a lot of "evil money" from Nike? Reflections of an elderly person who now has doubts about everything. 😆
Ren purchased the clothes he wore at a used clothing store. 5 pound shirt, 10 pound trousers and 2 pound tie. He wears every brand, Adidas, Nike, Reebok or any other brand. He has no affiliation with any brand. He wears what is comfortable and what he likes. The picture was for artistic purposes, not to show off Nike. If you knew this man then you would see what you think is the furthest from the truth. I understand what you are getting saying, at 55 yrs old I question everything and trust nothing. Ren is an open book and hides nothing. He doesn't have to but he does because he has nothing to hide. He has been sick the majority of his life with a chronic disease. He is going back for treatment next week for 8 months of aggressive medical treatments, he has been taking IV'S of cancer drugs till he can go back to the clinic. He is a caring human being that could sign a huge lucrative contract if he wanted tomorrow with a big record label but is not because his message would be Censored.
@57Gauloises57 I don't like rap either, but I don't find Ren to be "your typical rapper". It is true that both due to speed and accent it's a bit harder to understand him, probably even harder for us for whom English is only a second language. I find that the topic of money has been used and re-used over the years. However, what I like about Ren is that he can write lyrics that are both intelligent and resonate with the younger generation, who don't seem to listen to Pink Floyd. Maybe it's worth rehashing some parts, if they were good and "old" for these youngsters. As for the shoes, I hadn't even noticed, but you do have a point. We should question everything! Life experience has taught us that, if it taught us anything. 😉 @kellyt5341 Your comment is exactly what we need sometimes, us who don't research everyone and dig deep into their lives or watch videos that aren't music-related if we can avoid them. I do know that Ren is independent, but I had no idea he bought his clothes in second hand stores for this video. Thank you for brining that information to light here. 😊
@@AleksReacts I think rap today has moved away from its origins (the hip hop culture of the 70s) evolving (or devolving, maybe because of some rappers) into the ugliest trap, but it happens with all genres (if I just think about K-Pop I get a stomachache 🤢) and we get over it. As far as I'm concerned, it even originates from scat, but we're going way back in the years (or centuries, Louis Armstrong/Ella Fitzgerald). I've never really looked into it, also because I've played and listened to other things in my life, but my son listens to it (rap) in all languages (so the musical honor of the "family" is safe 😓). As for Pink Floyd, you'd be surprised to know how many young people listen to them and download their songs (or even buy records), it happens when you're a legend. Unfortunately, the 2000s churn out music at the speed of light and it's not always possible to keep up with everything, also for this reason "we should question everything", waiting to acquire information to form an opinion (yes, there are still those who do not passively absorb everything that comes from social media). I say this not out of presumption but because a phenomenon is increasingly emerging, which I (and many) consider disgusting, by the music industry (record companies, show business, talent shows, "artists") and which is the manipulation of recordings (both in the studio and live) with modern technologies in order to make the performance "perfect" and "free from errors" thus depersonalizing it of the human factor and therefore of the emotion that comes from listening to the small imperfections (inevitable for human beings). It can happen (and it has happened) that you go to a concert paying for a ticket and whoever performs does so with a pre-recorded and corrected base using lip sync. This is the reason why I now doubt everything.
You had me at "scat"! 😂 Yeah, that really might be one of the origins of rap, it would make sense. The honor of my family is up to me, but I only enjoy rap as it used to be though I'm somewhere in the 80's and I have mostly successfully avoided most of the later stuff. Some of it is simply honestly stupid and rather disrespectful. Thankfully, some rappers are in a way going back to the roots of what rap was "invented for" - sending a message. It can often be somewhat repetitive, but that is ok up to a point. With Ren I find it's more than one medium he's using for that purpose, so I like hearing some of his stuff. It allows us to question everything and I very much agree we all should. No conclusion can be reached without questioning. Without critical thinking, all we do is follow what we're told. I'm just not the type, can't do anything without first asking "why am I doing this?". 🤔 Believe it or not, when it comes to Pink Floyd, even though I am familiar with them, they were never really my cup of tea. Their melodies rather than the lyrics depressed me each time. That may well be the reason why I hadn't caught the lyrics you refer to in Ren's song. Though I very much understand and respect their value, it's hard for me to enjoy their music. On the other hand, I'm very glad to hear that young people do explore some of the greats, including Pink Floyd. Hey, I never really liked Elvis or Michael Jackson either... That's a personal preference, not a question of value. 🤷♀️ Finally, technology manipulating recordings is simply taking the soul out of music. It's the imperfections that often make the performance perfect. What you described (lip syncing in concert) is in fact a form of fraud. In some rare cases it is forced on the artist, like it used to on BBC back in the old days to ensure a live TV show does not entirely fall apart, but it still isn't "as advertised". I can forgive it at times, as long as the original recording is not tampered with, the way it was with e.g. Milli Vanilli. 😉
@Hundhammer Thanks for the heads up on this new Ren release, kiddo. It was worth it. 😉

@kellyt5341 mentioned other stuff by Ren.
And money without love is irrelevant
Regarding his shoes, some of his most severe symptoms are neuropathy, pain and burning and tingling in his feet and legs.
So GO! Ren. And GO! Aleks😊
Love from a shark sometimes in deep water.
@@AleksReacts Thank you so much! I'll go on concert both Friday and Saturday, as birthday gifts to myself😁 I'll see EIVØR on Friday and KALANDRA on Saturday. It will be great👍👍 Though I AM curious to hear what my wife thinks, as she is coming with me.
Btw, "Falling Free" by Eivør is something I am quite positive you'd enjoy listening to. I'd be a happy shark if you found the time to react to it some time 😄 The live recording from The Old Theater in Tórshavn is a good performance of the song.

"...The thrill is gone, thrill is gone, thrill is gone
He's a Leo sun, a Leo moon, and a Leo risin'
Said somethin' dies in his eyes when I find them
The thrill is gone
The thrill is, is so gone
Ain't so it gone, yes
Oh, no-no-no..."
(RAYE - The Thrill Is Gone) - sorry, can't help it, but to nearly any phrase anyone says nowadays a RAYE quote immediately jumps up in my head... - maybe that'll become less when the thrill is gone, but still the tide is rising, and, as Ren put it: A rising tide lifts all ships, she will lift up you as well, inevitably, can't battle the laws of physics...
Thanks for the shout out in your pinned comment, appreciate that!
Btw. I took the same route, or a similar one, left the city, quit my full time job, moved to the countryside to become a permaculture gardener, working only some hours a week to provide for the basics, never regretted my decision, love my garden and my garden loves me...
Sharkster is a great companion, we share the same values, both deeply love music, and even have a similar taste in music, so no wonder many of his favorites are mine as well and vice versa... Happy birthday buddy, I've said that on some other occasions already, but not here, so again, here's to your heath and happiness! Keep it real bro!
@poolhallshark Now that it is actually your birthday, a real congrats are due: I wish you health, happiness and that all your wishes come true! ❤❤❤
You've picked an excellent way to celebrate!
Thank you!
Hi Aleks! Ren has a new song out yesterday 'Slaughter House' you might like to react to.
What I did find about a verb and money:
The verb you use with the word "money" depends on whether the amount of money is specific or vague:
Specific amount: Use a singular verb. For example, "Five dollars is a lot of money".
Vague amount: Use a plural verb. For example, "Millions more were spent on training future factory workers"
"Money" is a mass noun, which means it's treated as a noncount noun and doesn't have a plural form.
Thank you so much for sharing your input on this and I hope I'm making some sense in trying to untangle the real meaning.
Love to both you and Florida (a flowery name to enjoy)!
@@kellyt5341 thanks for all these informations, now Is more clear 👍
@kellyt5341 Your comment is exactly what we need sometimes, us who don't research everyone and dig deep into their lives or watch videos that aren't music-related if we can avoid them.
Believe it or not, when it comes to Pink Floyd, even though I am familiar with them, they were never really my cup of tea. 🤷♀️
Finally, technology manipulating recordings is simply taking the soul out of music. 😉
