When my nephew was teething he would only fall asleep if I was dancing around with him in my arms and singing him 'Cities in Dust' by Siouxsie and the Banshees or the anything by The Cure......he is a muso now and writes brilliant stuff!!!
This guy is awesome. We need more of you in this world. Always positive. Always smiling. Thank you for what you are doing. Especially during these rough times. Enjoy watching your videos.
My brother is 12 years older than me and played their songs all the time when I was 5 or 6. I was too young to appreciate them but whenever I hear them it just takes me back to that age like no other band can.
I so agree - this song is very nostalgic. I'm thinking because it so defines the 80's. What an incredible decade for music - makes me want to go back in time
Robert Smith (the singer and main songwriter of The Cure) has been with the same girl, his very first girlfriend, since they were both 13. They married in 1989 and are still together today. His wife Mary appears in the music video for this song.
Robert Smith, when he's in top form, can layer fifteen different hooks on top of each other and make them all play together. The Cure is also one of those '80s college bands like XTC that are defined by their arty songwriting, but their secret weapon is an ultra-tight rhythm section.
Yes The Cure!! High school memories. There are many great songs from them. Friday I'm In Love, Why Can't I Be You, Boys Don't Cry, Pictures of You... These guys were fire in the 80s. 🔥🔥🔥
Yes. Depeche Mode. I keep saying it too lol. 40 years of brilliance. From simple synth pop to industrial rhythms to rock and back to synths and chill out music. So many styles and so many great songs.
I’m a huge Cure fan. You have to see one of their videos. Robert Smith is the king of English goth. I had just started dating my husband & took him to a Cure concert in Minneapolis 1992. We still joke that he must have really like me because he’s more of a hair band guy 🎟💕Lovesong, Lullaby, Pictures of You, Boys Don’t Cry, Friday I’m in Love, Why Can’t I Be You, Close to Me, so many good songs. 💕
As a long time fan of the Cure, it was fun to see your enthusiastic reaction. So many great songs to choose from, but I agree with many others that "A Forest" would be a good choice.
Please react to these Cure songs: Friday I'm In Love In Between Days Boys Don't Cry A Forest Lovesong Close To Me Pictures of You Fascination Street The Lovecats Shake Dog Shake Lullaby
Oh, I'm SO happy to see someone do this one - AND appreciate it so much! In fact, no one reacts to The Cure ever, happy to see the band given some attention in general. But this song in particular, because this was my favorite in high school. Nothing takes me straight back to being 16 years old like it.
The first time I heard The Cure was at a gothic punk club in East Village during the early 90s. I was so hooked after that it was near criminal. I could not stop listening.
The first time I saw The Cure video on MTV I was 8 years old & it was High. Loved them instantly. I can't imagine how wonderful it would be listening to them for the first time when you're an adult and actually understand what the song is about. Congrats, man.
This is my favorite of their songs. It reminds me of when I was 17 and had gotten to a point where I was almost clear of the bad stuff and had some hope. I know that still sounds bleak, but I had a lot of rough years in school so that time was the ray of light after groping through the darkness. It wasn’t fully lit but that first ray of light is a big deal.
LOVE the Cure...never got to see them live sadly but I did see Robert Smith (the lead singer) when he filled in on tour for Siouxsie and the Banshees, another band I'd highly recommend..also Bauhaus..saw them live at the Electric Ballroom in Camden, London, I was heavily pregnant with my second son at the time, he reckons it answers for a lot of things..lol...Plus Depeche Mode, Poly Styrene, The Damned.....and so many more from that era. I feel blessed to have been young during the 70's and 80's (most of the 60's too to be honest) there will never be a time like it again for fantastic music..The UK surpassed itself for great bands...
My favourite Cure song. Much more accessible than a lot of their other stuff, which can be quite introspective, yet beautiful. This is much more ‘pop’ Cure. It’s got tempo and energy. Love it.
The Cure are an amazing band. Have a listen to "Inbetween Days","Close to Me", "A Forest" or "Hanging Garden".No songis the same. Another band I would love to see you react tois Siouxsie and the Banshees. They are another awesone Brirish Band.
Yes!! Not just the chart toppers!! Seeing them in concert was a transcendental experience. It couldn’t be put into words. The older people behind me though clearly didn’t appreciate their music aside from a few of those more popular radio songs. They sat in their sits making fun of Robert Smiths weight. The. Entire. Concert. I just tried to stay lost in the fact that for a few hours I shared a space and moment with such a genius band.
Now you're talking! Love The Cure, and that makes me wonder if you've done anything from The Smiths? In my opinion, "How Soon is Now" is the best song of all time, but there are sooo many of theirs to listen to.
I love that you’re so open to different genres and eras of music. It’s rare to find these days, everybody seems to be so afraid of embracing anything outside the established contemporary stuff. You keep being you, man.
Great to see you discover The Cure. Whenever you decide to react to one of their songs make sure you check if it was on The Mixed Up Album. Some of their greatest songs re-mastered by Rober Smith (lead singer) himself. I strongly recommend these songs from that album Lullaby, Close to Me, Lovesong, Pictures of you and The Caterpillar ... side note also some great songs when you are having a romantic night with the ladies. They had so many hits... I'll list more later. Look forward to you reacting to some of the above. Eargasms.
"From the edge of the deep green sea", " One hundred years", "hanging garden", "the Kiss". Well, I'd acctually say: listen to The Cure, man. Cheers from Brasil.
HOORAY! Welcome to the glorious sounds of The Cure! Pornography is their best album. My fave songs: From the Edge of the Deep Green Sea Let's Go To Bed A Night Like This One Hundred Years A Forest Charlotte Sometimes The Hanging Garden I could keep going on this list for days but will end there. Thank you, Thank You, Thank You for finally doing The Cure. Now, for more DEPECHE MODE 🥀🖤🎹🖤🥀
The Cure have some insanely catchy intros. Some of my favorites are _Plainsong,_ _Inbetween Days,_ _High,_ _Disintegration,_ _Push_ & _Pictures of You._

YES! This is undoubtedly one of their best songs. Love the fact that before Robert even starts singing with that brilliant opening line you just KNOW it’s a Cure track. This, Charlotte Sometimes and A Forest are absolute gems from them.
Two things I love about your channel.. 1/ How enthusiastic you are.. and 2/ Just seeing a younger generation fall in love with and appreciate music that I’ve loved for 20-30 years.
DUDE. It IS a banger! You are giving me all the feels!!!!! My daughter likes some of these songs but won't give me the satisfaction of the enthusiasm and the display of LOVE that they deserve. You are having me relive all my high school years with these songs. Saw The Cure at Dodger Stadium back in the day and again a few years later. They are so good. As listed below, Boys Don't Cry is another winner.
Possibly my favourite song. I was blasting it out of my bedroom when I was about 15, and a guy about same age was delivering some junk mail outside. He just stopped and started singing along looking up at my window until it was over. I figured I made his day, he definitely made mine when I still remember it 30 years later. I always remember that when I hear this song.
When the strings hit my heart exploded and my eyes got moist. So beautiful. And the part where she says I'll run away with you. More heartsplosions and full on tears. I miss her.
So as an added dimension to the band- an actual video of the Cure in their full glory will of course require another reaction. Glad you started your lesson with audio only as your introduction. Right on! Welcome aboard.
I'm so glad I checked on your list of older reactions...I think this is one of the best 80s songs! You're right, it has everything you could want in an 80s pop song. They also have a huge hit called "Friday I'm in Love" loving it Jay!
The cure was everything to me in high school. On my headphones 24 seven, every album. Got to say how much I love how positive and uplifting you are. I believe I have maybe three favorites of the cure but just like happens where I always go first. The lyrics alone bring me back again and again. Then his voice and then credible music and arrangement. In high school we called this a “ dance it out“ song. My other favorite you should react to it is definitely “pictures of you“. 👍🏻❤️
The Cure and this song take me back to my teens. It was an incredible time for music. Life was simple back then. Go to school. Get good grades. Dance to The Cure. It was a great time.
Congratulations my friend for discovering a classic from the Cure. Good music is eternal and is moving you the same way that moved my generation. Peace from NY.
The Cure have many tons a great songs to go all through. I never liked them as a teenager, mostly due to my older brother loving them. I so missed out.
I used to hold my one year old daughter in my arms and dance with her - to this song. She's 28 years old now.
When my nephew was teething he would only fall asleep if I was dancing around with him in my arms and singing him 'Cities in Dust' by Siouxsie and the Banshees or the anything by The Cure......he is a muso now and writes brilliant stuff!!!
My 2nd favorite band of all time! Next to New Order. A close second. Brilliant song!! One of the best ever IMO.

Think exactly the same!! :-)
Shut up
There are so many great songs by The Cure. "Boys don't cry", "Close to me, "Love Cats", "Friday I'm in love" and my particular favourite "Lullaby".
Boys don’t cry ❤️
"Close To Me" and Lullaby."
I was obsessed with the Lullaby Mv when I was a teenager. Love The Cure.
God I hate "Friday I'm in Love."
@@lipby Sorry about that. Do you have a favourite Cure song?
Just like heaven’s lyrics are pure poetry.
and pure genius.
One of the best opening lines ever: “Show me, show me, show me how you do that trick. The one that makes me scream, she said.”
This song always hits me hard right in the nostalgia.
My brother is 12 years older than me and played their songs all the time when I was 5 or 6. I was too young to appreciate them but whenever I hear them it just takes me back to that age like no other band can.

True. Reminds of my freshman year in college
I so agree - this song is very nostalgic. I'm thinking because it so defines the 80's. What an incredible decade for music - makes me want to go back in time
Me too
Despite how popular they were, I still think they are underrated. A lot of emo/pop punk bands of the 2000's owe a lot to The Cure.
The Cure inspired Vince Clarke before he started Depeche Mode.
I totally agree. Try listening to A Letter To Elise and tell me Dashboard Confessional wasn’t inspired by the Cure.
I love watching people grin as they discover The Cure. I hope you get a chance to dig into their huge discography!
Please listen to Heaven 17 "Let me go", really gold grom the '80's
He totally gets it ! 😀
Robert Smith (the singer and main songwriter of The Cure) has been with the same girl, his very first girlfriend, since they were both 13. They married in 1989 and are still together today. His wife Mary appears in the music video for this song.

Depeche Mode would be a great listen
You could spend an entire week reacting to Depeche Mode songs and never get bored. Phenomenal and iconic band.

Robert Smith That’s a bummer
I saw the Cure in Minneapolis in 1992, too. Target Center.

this is the PERFECT pop song.
