Thanks for making something so cool, I always felt like the space pirates needed more focus considering they are the main enemy faction in the franchise. Metroid needs a lot more world building imo
It's such a visually appealing hack, and the concept itself is truly innovative! Sorry if this has been answered may times over, I just recently got into metroid in a big way after not having played it for decades.. But how come you cancelled the project? Is there anything the community could do to reignite the spark, perhaps through crowdfunding / patreon?
@@bravefastrabbit770 not cancelled necessarily. The romhack is cancelled, but what became of the project is still in development. I shifted gears to a unity game about a year ago and I’m still working on it
@@SF-TDW I’d have to look back through this and see, it’s been a while. Later in development I started speaking with Fierce Falcon to compose music for the hack, but I don’t believe that’s present here

Several MP songs identified here, among them Chozo Temple and Sunken Frigate. Listening to them in 16-bit MIDI is charming. And that's a commendable work, because clmposing music for SNES is NOT placing notes on a score. Its doing a lot of hex coding.
No doubt that if Samus encountered Space Pirates that wore these successful reverse engineered models of her power suit she'd be in shock that finally they could truly use her abilities against her. Granted the pirates wouldn't have the full capabilities that Samus' Power Suit has since its likely the model they have access to is a more "Prototype" build but it'd still give her much more a challenge.
For all Nintendo's resources they ignore and actively attack the emulation community and so they never support these kinds of efforts. Imagine what so many of these indie efforts would achieve if Nintendo would just cut people checks to make their art.
The Metroid prime new "hunters" are amazing and I find they are very underated both by Nintendo to make new games and by the fans who didn't experienced primer hunters (tbh a lower tier game in comparison to the masterpieces of the series, but still amazing)

there are a few full overhauls of the game out there, many of which are unfinished or unreleased, but honestly making custom intro cinematics is just something far beyond the skill level of most hackers, since it would basically need to be completely custom code and assets. Dont necessarily disagree with you, but the level of effort and passion that goes into full overhauls like you describe, its just something that inherently takes a long ass time, so theyre few and far between. As much as i'd like to see more hacks to that level, its just an unrealistic expectation I think vitality does a pretty good job of keeping down on the redundancy to that end, the intro cinematic is a single custom image with like, 2 pages of brief text crawl to give some basic background, and then it drops you right into the gameplay.
