      The gushing promo video is painful to watch, how many cliches can you get in one video, there are much better options out there from transition, norco, specialised, trek, giant and yeti to name a few. It’s does have price on its side.

    Did you guys have the chance to compare the new Lux Trail to the 2023-2024 Orbea Oiz? If pedaling/climbing performance on any kind of terrain (asphalt to technical trail climbs) would be the top priority, what would you choose between the two?

      In a way it reminds me of my fifteen year old Stumpjumper FSR. That was also a longer travel XC at the time and it was actually really fun, but most importantly it was all the bike i needed. I could rip around fast flat Xc trails or take it to Wales for some trail fun. They have the suspension numbers right.

    The bike manufacturers takes us for pigeons…
    Look at the prices of bikes! It’s the prices of an old car now!!
    They have gone crazy since the covid!

    • @bikeradar

      Bike prices have been on the rise for a while and while this model cost £8k, the range starts from £3,199 for the CF7 model, which while it lacks the fancy wireless bits, is a brilliant bike, just like this one

  • @200KCycling

    The look of the bike seems to be very heavily forcused on function, but it looks kind of strange with the steep seat tube and what appears to be a very low standover. The colour charts for these new Luxes also are a bit strange, not sure why they are going for the two tone fade on many CF models. It just looks odd. I think Canyon , and all manufactures , need to understand that bikes at this price now are very expensive and whoever buys them need sthe bike to be near perfect, as they will be a much longer ownership proposition than in the past. The price has to be right, the colour has to be right, the spec has to be right. In short they need to completely pull it out of the bag and i don't think they have.

    • @bikeradar

      Some very fair points!
      Beauty will always be in the eye of the beholder, but you are absolutely right, when spending a lot on a new bike, you want it to be the whole package; looks, performance, practicality, reliability and value

  • @hawgietonight

    Jack of all trades bike for 8k is "good value". Yeah that happened.

    • @bikeradar

      Good value is all about context, especially so with high-end bikes.
      Compared to the new Specialized Epic Evo 8 Pro for example, which "only" gets X0 Transmission, lower grade brakes, cheaper DT Swiss hubs, cable post, not AXS, so in comparison to that, it is good value for the money in question.
      The Lux Trail is a good allround bike, arguably a jack of all trades in that it is very competent in a host of situations.
      Is this £8K the best value of the range and the bike we'd buy? No, we'd go for the CF7 at £3199, which is cheaper and will offer pretty much all of the performance of this bike, with a small weight penalty

    • @Doggepp

      @@200KCycling ? The epic is like 10.4kg with Flight attendant configuration, if you run the same 3pos suspension as on this bike, its just at, or slightly below 10kg even, and add the lighter tires and you can drop another 400g, since it does not come on the lightest casing. But yes, the Lux is definitely a "burlier" bike

    What a clown show, just a video sponsored by Canyon about an average at best bike. There are sooooo many better options out there.

    • @bikeradar

      None of our reviews are sponsored by bike brands; we review bikes completely independantly, Canyon did not sponsor this video, or pay us to say anything about the bike.
      For sure there are other bikes available, including other bikes within the Lux Trail range, like the base CF7, that we would say represent better value and you could argue performance for the money.
      Likewise, there are other bikes out there to choose from as well; New Epic, Transition Spur, Trek Top Fuel, Pivot Mach 4 SL, it's great to have more options to choose from
