I was waiting for this modernized model, the Lux Trail CF 9 with electronic AXS shifting and i found that the new one is 1 kg heavier than the previous generation. I can only hope that the weight listed on the Canyon website is possible with the contents inside the frame included. As mentioned in the review, it is a universal bike for occasional weekend XC racers.
I feel like canyon is making a big mistake with these handlebars. At least let us choose stem length and bar width before buying. Also it would be so awesome to have accessories like the aero bars compatible with all the bikes, really silly to just put them on the grail. This is the same for road and mtb
Last year, you made a video about the Scott Spark RC, and said it was so good that you wanted to buy it. I have reserved a Spark RC WC, but have started getting second thoughts. If you would compare last years Spark RC to this, even though you haven't got many hours on it, which one would you choose?
Good question. I would be interested because i am looking at both as an ex-XC Racer who loves light good climbing bikes that can also take on downhills fairly well.
Wonder how this compares to a Trek Supercaliper or Orbea Oiz M. The base model CF on Canyons website doesn’t have the one piece handlebar/stem. I’ve changed those on every bike I’ve owned.
I have a Scott spark RC Pro 2022 and have just refurbished it with new cables and headset bearings. A couple of idiosyncrasies but really the only pain (but easy to do) is rebleeding the rear brake. If you take off the dropper lever the remote passes through the top bearing if you do not want to disconnect the rear shock cable.
Has the same problem as all Canyon mountain bikes. Far too long seat tubes. I think I'm in saying the small has a 415mm seat tube. Which long as a large for many brands. My 2018 Blur medium has 410mm and my Tallboy 4 medium has 405 mm. I just could ride the Canyon with even a 125 mm dropper near mind a 150 mm dropper.
Strange that there are bikes whose seat tubes are even shorter than this. Seat tubes were reduced by 50mm or so for this last model. I have a 2020 Rallon in XL that has a 483 mm seat tube, and I use a 210mm dropper with it that leaves me 10mm to spare. The 480mm reach of this bike in L matches the 485 of the XL Rallon, and it has a 450mm seat tube, which with the same brand of dropper, would leave me with a whopping 103mm of exposed outer tube for a 150mm dropper. So it seems way too short to me.
I hate remote lockouts, headset cable routing, integrated stem/handlebars, and any bike that doesn't have at least a 66* HTA. There's a lot I don't like about this bike.
A total redesign… made the other day by Specialized. Come on Canyon… we are Germans …we can do other than copying. At least they’re „giving us“ a threaded bb ! Thx for that.
Looks complicated. The handlebar looks awful. I’m just not into all this tech. My 10 year old mtn bike still climbs and tackles trail in comfort. Too expensive. I do love that they the bb is threaded. My Canyon Endurace has pf which annoys me greatly.
F&$k Canyon!’!!!!! I bought a use lux, broke a shock rocker meant to be part of the frame assembly and they won’t let me buy a new rocker since I did not buy direct from them
Thanks for the review! Any idea when your longterm review is planned?
Thanks for the review! I really looking forward to you longterm review

The two CFR models get the handlebar/stem as shown in video. The other CF models get standard style.
I like clever storage options and finally, threaded bb, wonder if we should expect that in Road models too.
Any update on the long term review at all?
Oh boy even this now has a one piece bar and stem. Good luck with that
If it fits you then you're ok.
I've got a similar setup on my Trek Fuel EX 9.8 and it's perfect for me.
When it's not the case, it's another story! :D

Its a good point. The first thing I do on every bike I buy is change the stem, handlebar or sometimes both......
All good except for the stem/handlebar combo. That will be a headache to service unless you can mod it with standard options.
How would you compare it to the scott spark which I remember you liked a lot.
Which one would you pick an why?
All the best!

that was a good review. the bike looks great, thinking this would be a good one for my wife.
Thanks 👍
Threaded BB!
Please, whats your height, inseam and what size did you ride? thanks
Size large and I'm 181cm tall
Wonder how this compares to a Trek Supercaliper or Orbea Oiz M.

Thanks for the review. Really looking forward to your long term thoughts and maybe compare to Spark RC??
How are you comparing this one to the Mach4SL? Which one do you feel is better?
Integrated stem-handlebar combo looks horrible
Hi there , just a question about your height iam just wondering about how this large frame fits ?
I’m 181cm and find the fit perfect
@@davidarthur wow didn’t expect that because the canyon size chart about medium frame is from 175-183 , so what’s your inseam ?
@@gerasimoskourkoumelis2975 I don't use inseam for measuring mtbs, I go by the reach and my preference is for 475mm ballpark
how about compared with specialized epic evo ?both are downcountry bike
that's a good shout
Why even have cables going into the headtube when they're all exposed anyway...
I thought that as well. Either all or none IMO.
Hallo wie groß sind sie und welche Rahm größe fahren sie in dem Video. Vielen Dank im voraus.
I think David is on a large as i am the same size and most bikes he tests are the same size as i take, if that helps.
Er ist 181cm und fährt Größe L.
David, what do you like more: cross country or road bikes and why?
I’m no Dave, but man that’s a really tough one!
Both are incredibly refreshing, and great way to unwind and get crisp air in the lungs.
@@Jacob99174i agree. 😊😊
Better or worse than the Pivot Mach 4 SL? I thought you had more to come from the pivot?
The Pivot had to go back but hoping to get back on it soon for the longer term test I want to do on it. Maybe a good shootout with this new Canyon?
Lux trail or Chisel fs ?
Canyon states other seattube angles than you which i find strange for example in size S its only 73,2.
Looks like a fast and fun ride, probably out of my budget though….
Starts from £3199 but sadly no aluminium option
Nice manicured garden you have there. Why not just ride your road bike? Did you use over 30% of travel?
Another bike with headset cable routing means another bike I will never buy.

Thats interesting. I was wondering about that as i am considering a Scott Spark.
This dude lives in the Isle Of Wight?
WOW
Если бы не розовый цвет, то купил бы. Каньону стоит нанять маляра из Giant.

Hope the headset cable routing fad just dissapears.
I doubt its as good as the Spur, that is a very special machine.
Way too heavy for XC bike

seat angle is too slack now, and the secret compartment is lame, unless its where you put your weed. no bueno.
they better not mess with the lux.
