If God's not first, it opens the door to idolatry, where something or someone is loved so much, it or they becomes an idol.

Gossiping & avoidance/fear of confrontation is definitely not just a Mennonite thing. I've struggled with that my entire life. I try really hard to either talk directly to the person or keep it to myself, but the need to vent sometimes outweighs that.
Finding your channel was a combination of a couple of things. First, I live in Montana & we have quite a few Amish & Mennonite communities. In a world where social media, as well as people in general, can be critical or downright mean, I thoroughly enjoy being around someone who goes out of their way to be kind. I was also one of the subscribers Lynette sent your way. You're both amazing & I get a smile on my face every time I see that notification bell light up!

I just have to say, I’m a non-denominational “born again” Christian. I just discovered your channel and girl I love it! While we don’t live the same lifestyle I love your outlook, acceptance, and recognition that not all Christians do things the same way, and that’s okay. I don’t think there’s a “right” way to have a relationship with God. That’s between you and him. And our lives are VERY different. But I love what you stand for and the messages you send to the world. You’re doing good work.

Hi Megan! I'm not a Mom or religious in any way and when I first found you it was out of curiosity about Mennonites. I've been watching for several months now and I've stayed because I love your tips, your authenticity, and your positive and upbeat personality. I'm always excited when you have a new video and although we differ in spiritual beliefs I find your welcoming and genuine personality keeps me coming back.
Often, I get the opposite feeling from mainstream Christians and many give off a vibe that I like to stay far away from. You are so refreshing!

Wanted to say your videos are uplifting and helpful in many other ways.
I think everyone (or almost) struggles with gossiping, especially women. I believe we, as a species, need to talk about our feelings and this is a way to unload, compare notes, and make sure we are "normal". We just need to be aware of our intent and try not to be hurtful or mean in the process.
I think if I ever saw you in person (very unlikely LOL), I would want to give you a big hug. Sending lots of love your way!

I loved your answer about why women who dress modesty stand out. I also dress the same dont cut my hair but head covering is not necessary in my view does not make sense that only your bun is covered but nothing else but that is my opinion. But I do like the modesty answer and I will use it when people ask me
You are faithful, a wife, a mom, friend and you. Always keep you in the equation. I am granny with 2 grown daughters. The older one is realizing as her children are 4/2, she has started to take care of her needs too. Your husband can’t do it....trust me...40 years later and he still would rather golf than knit! I’ve always been told and taught if you say nothing but the truth, you have no stories to keep straight. I use this when talking about other people as well. I also don’t mind saying that I don’t need to know whatever gossip they have. I’m definitely not perfect but I do try. I also have no problem confronting people that talk behind my back as I feel I always have room for improvement, and at the very least I feel I (and everyone else) deserve more respect than that. I'm 64 years old and I enjoy listening to a young mom who is true to herself and living a Christian life. I'm learning a lot about Mennonites and my misconceptions. The Mennonite culture may be more susceptible to talking behind people's backs, but honestly I think that tends to be human nature. I've been in many different denominations through the years and you'll find that it happens more frequently than you think.

Hello from Michelle in Kentucky. I grew up in a Mennonite community and can relate to so many things that you say. My grandparents were Mennonites, however; my parents never joined the church although we always attended. I still am in contact with a lot of the people that I grew up around. I love watching your videos and I watch Lynette's as well because it is like having a little bit of those younger days back again.
I think you're very real and grounded . You actually led me to Lynette's channel. It's so nice to find something on youtube that isn't negative or materialistic. Keep up the good work and by all means protect your life balance.

It is wonderful to hear about your life. I am 65 years old, and am thrilled that you have learned some many of life's lessons so young. I grew up in the " church", but by my late 40's became disillusioned with the mixed messages.

“Meet ups” are a TH-camr thing from what I know. Maybe it’s for people with managers or management companies but they put together an event at a public place and people line up to meet you (or if it’s smaller come hang out with you). Maybe that’s what people are asking for?

As an ageing, childless, British atheist, this really shouldn't be a channel for me - but I love it! I enjoy learning about other cultures, and the more I hear about our differences, the more I see how, fundamentally, we are all the same. I’ve felt convicted about head covering (as in I feel I want to), but the Elders I’ve spoken to in our churches, and our general community here in England definitely look upon these things as “different” or not relevant for today. Not sure I like the idea of cherry-picking from the Bible 🤔 Our LDS communities in England do wear Alice bands which sets them apart.... I love that you wear a veiling. Thank you Megan for sharing your life and being so open with us. I am a Christian, Baptist Faith. I brought up to dress modestly as well but we can wear pants and shorts. I wear a very modest swimsuit with a skirt. I don’t judge you at all by your choice of attire it’s a convection you have, that we all have in our different faiths. Lol you are so funny and precious. I sought out a video of yours I hadn't yet seen, to cheer me while I'm doing busy work. I find that listening to you, regardless the topic, puts me in a pleasant frame of mind. Thank you! ETA: former elem teacher here. So many times I find myself thinking "Oh she soooo was a teacher! I know what she's doing there..." Haha. It really stays with us. I know for sure you were excellent at it and the kiddos had to just adore you.
Be yourself! I admire you and your culture. My childhood babysitter was German Baptist. I love them to this day and I am almost 60 years old. I was raised in a Freewill Baptist Church, but we all are simply Christians if we follow the Bible and it's teachings.

Well, I’m a born and raised unbaptised atheist from Scandinavia. I’m not a mom, and I don’t believe in modesty or that the husband should be the head of the family. BUT I find your channel sweet and relaxing to watch. I’m interested in theology (in a sciency/psychology kind of way) and although we have very different beliefs (and you probably believe that I’ll go to hell for a lot of reasons), I like you as a person. Megan, don’t worry about the ones asking you controversial/too personal questions.
Some people seem to think that just because you are on TH-cam, that they have a right to ask you anything they want and you are obligated to answer them, or that you owe them something. Do only what you feel comfortable doing. Believe me it’s not just in the Mennonite culture, when people talk about others. It happens everywhere. Keep doing what you are doing and just be yourself. I really think that is why so many people enjoy watching you and your channel has grown so quickly because you are just you, and you don’t try and be something you’re not. That is so nice to see, in this day and age. It’s really refreshing to find someone who is not only beautiful on the outside, but more importantly on the inside. Keep up the awesome videos. Gossip was such a struggle for me. Then I remember being convicted about the time i spend with people. As moms we hardly get friend time! It should be uplifting and refreshing- so i decided to be intentional about not leaving a playtime until I mentioned Jesus and encouraged someone. It has helped tremendously. And those who i used to gossip with suddenly don’t ask me to hang out anymore 😏☺️
