I'm originally from North Dakota, and went to Reeder Public School, and a fwemale teacher by the name of Miss Davis, who was already in her 50;s, and teaching at Reeder POublic School, happened top own a farm down the road from Reeder and the barn that was on her farm had been converted into a dance hall. Thye barn could probably easily accomadate around 100 people. Folks, we're talking North Dakota, here, not the rolling hill country of South Central Texas. So even way up north in North Dakota, we enjoyed that honky-tonk kind of music being played back in the 40's to the 60's.

She thought it was 'Risky business' as in...she thought that Slim singing with Keith wouldn't work out so well🤔UNTIL!! AND, Slim only started out busking at the local annual shows on Side show Alley!! As a 15 yr old busker, he barely made enough to buy a daily meal for himself at the time...as he put in a song years later...'The biggest disappointment' in which he said 'I had a lot more Dinner xs than I had Dinners!! Which his wife wrote as Slim spent 50 +years thinking and believing he was a failure!! Anyway, an old Chinese Magician named Dante, gave him a go, singing in Dantes Tent!! Dante took Slim under his wing, and told Slim...'YOU'LL GO ALL THE WAY ME BOY!'!🙂Because byyyyyy God u can sing!! Stay with me, and once your voice breaks? U R GONNA REALLY BE ABLE TO SING!!🙂 It's just that your way too shy Slim!!🤔and stand on a soapbox to get the audiences Attention!! FF about 5 yrs, and Slim made enough to buy his very own tent!! Met Joy, got married in the early 50s, and hit the rd on A 3 month's trial around Australia....which he went on to do for another 50+ years! what 95 PC of Australian Fans DIDN'T N STILL DON'T KNOW!! is that Slim Dusty was a very shy man! AND was ever since he was a little boy!! AND!! He DID go over and sing at the Grande old Oprey!! AND got a standing ovation too!!
