Hey George. I just want to say you are my favorite EUC youtuber. I really enjoy how down to earth your style is. You have a really great way of explaining the EUC experience
Great topic. Even after having ridden for quite a while, I still lack confidence in starting from a standstill. And you are right - the only way to get it down is to get in the reps. It is embarrassing to mount the unicycle at a crosswalk with lines of cars in both directions stopped and waiting for you to cross and then falling off the unicycle.
Been watching your videos and they’re super informative. The small details that you talk about and the mentality of riding really do help with beginner riders. I just recently bought a v12 HT but unfortunately there was an issue which I had to ship back to the store (Canada). Hoping that I can get it back soon and learn to ride! Ive been watching other videos about learning to ride an EUC and there is something different that you offer from the rest. Could be your enthusiasm or just personality, but regardless, if you keep putting out content like this, I’m sure you’ll gain a lot of subscribers. Thanks!
All good points George, I remember that trip to Rocky point park, we did that was the most times, I confidently mounted my wheel in a day without fail. Being confident is definitely key while not embarrassing yourself infront of others also helps too ..lol
I ride my OneWheel like most people putting my left foot forward (regular stance). Therefore, that is the foot that is my 'dominant' foot for my V11. I am glad you explained it here, because all other videos I watched talked about your 'dominant foot' but nobody really explained it as clear as you did. Nice work George. I rode my V11 only twice and I was using my right foot as my dominant foot (goofy). Thanks to your video, now I know I was riding it with the wrong foot and wrong stance. Thanks again and cheers to your success! :)
I say it would be good to later practice with your other foot, so that you can learn to do it with either leg so as to dominate better the ride. Stay safe!!
I bought my first euc in 2014. These tips and instructionals are still really helpful. It’s always good to see someone else’s approach. Thanks, George! ( new subscriber).
@@GoGeorge now you can do them with your new beast of a begode! I really like your enthusiasm and the idea that you should basically run the same drills with new wheels. I do the same sort of thing for just swapping out pads. That said, you’ve got a lot of simple and intuitive lessons to help with your progression. These are valuable for any rider, regardless of how long they’ve been riding. I’m currently bingeing your content to test myself tomorrow. Thanks, George.
thanks for your video George, today is my 4th day learning to ride ECU, and finally I can make left turn in very small circle now, I mean I can scratch the left pedal when I make left turn, tomorrow will start to practices right turn.
It’s incredibly challenging for a short person with no lower body strength like me to control such weight with one leg without feeling like it’s trying to break my knee going outward or the euc falling inward. Since im short, i feel like my bottom would hit the euc when i try to glide with 1 leg BUUUUT…….. i still learned to free mount from you 🙂 incredibly easy to understand instructions. Thank you!
I'm sure it doesn't feel the same but it definitely looks very similar to learning how to get on a skateboard. You want to be able to push off with one foot and then leave that pushing foot off the board and just try to balance with your dominant foot on the board. The longer you can keep that 1 foot off, the better you will be at pushing your board later down the line because you're not trying to rush getting your pushing foot on the board. It's pretty much practicing and resisting the urge to "omg I have to get back to my safe zone with both feet on the board" feeling. You should feel just as safe with 1 foot on the board, which seems like what the case is here with an EUC; you should feel safe and comfortable with 1 foot on the EUC and not having to rush to get to feel safe with both feet on the EUC.
your uni prolly isn't 33kg, like mine. Im very new to this and right now I can free-mount taking 1 additional step before stepping on. But just holding it upright is very heavy I think.
Not that i have noticed much, i could maybe see if you had it on 0% soft mode maybe you would get some small pedal dipping. But the same peactice drills should apply regardless. And thanks for watching 😀
Hey George, I purchased my first wheel, an S-18 and in one week I've put almost 55 miles on it but stopping without grabbing the Euc when I dismount is tough never mind mounting. I weigh 128# and this wheel is quite heavy so mounting has become quite difficult. Any suggestions for a light weight?? Thank you!!
Practice that gliding on one leg move, it will build a TON of strength for you as you get better at it. The s18 is like 60lbs so im sure its tough for you to manage right now. The key is getting it to really stick to your leg and be part of it so that when you stop its just natural that you keep one leg on it
I think the best "cheap" unicycle you can get is the inmotion v8f . If you can move up to the 2000$ range, the kingsong 18xl and inmotion v11 are two top notch wheels as well
Yo! What's the cushy pads you added to the saddle, i just got the clark pads and it hurts my chin like a bitch, i have a bruise where my chin hit the upper clark pad hard plastic.
Its actually a 3d printed pad i designed! I will be making them available to the public soon!! Stay tuned to the channel, ill be doing an announcement soon!! Found an awesome rubber material that prints really comfortable pads
HA HA HA, YOUR FUNNY MAN. IT TOOK ME 4,000 MILES BEFORE I LEARNED HOW TO PUT MY OTHER FOOT ON THE FOOTPLATE. I WOULD GO FROM POLE TO POLE TO POLE. I KNEW EVERY SINGLE POLE HERE IN THIS TOWN OF WAIMEA HAWAII. I PUT 50 MILES EVERYDAY ON MY SHERMAN. I WOULD PLAN MY TRIPS ON WHAT POLE I WOULD LEAVE FROM TO WHAT POLE I WAS GOING TO. I WAS DOING 55 MPH. IN 5 SECONDS BEFORE I LEARNED TO PUT MY BLASTED LEFT FOOT ON THE FOOTPLATE. I WILL BE AT 8,000 MILES ANY DAY NOW AND I'M STILL NOT AS GOOD AS YOU GUYS MOUNTING FROM A START, BUT I CAN DO IT WHEN I NEED TO. SO, AT 8,000 MILES, I STILL GO FROM POLE TO POLE TO POLE. :-)
Those two drills does nothing for me in regards to riding. It is nothing more than a workout. The only thing the half moon and one leg did was make me sweat, sore and tired The best way I learn to free mount was by doing it. Keep body upright, get on and lean forward, while keeping arms down...the waving of the arms that beginners do only make them lose balance. Keep your arm at your side or put them in your pocket. And relax. Also power pads are a game changer. I can ride way farther with pads, than without them Holding on to rail and walls are only a crutch. It makes you depend on it for accelerating and stopping instead of leaning forward and backwards I had my wheel less than a week and I can already ride for miles. I rode 20 miles yesterday at the beach
I’ve checked for “how to” videos nothing compares to your “how to” 👍🏼👊🏼
Thanks George, mounting has always been a struggle but I know your suggestions will be helpful.
6 pac Gord
Very helpful, especially the part of ~ ride first, then learn the finer points. I had it the other way around, wrong.
Great content! New rider here and I’m following your videos religiously
84 miles on my V8F now... thanks to all of u EUC tubers ..... IT IS AWESOMMMME ... WR WAS THIS ALL MY LIIIIFE!!!
wheeel liiifeeee!!!

Thanks man! I appreciate that :)

You're welcome
Very useful tips. I avoid one legged riding at first because of that pressure on my calves, but really its an essential skill to mount effortlessly.
🤘
Easier said than done!
Two more words...Jon Cryer
Thanks for the vids. You have a genuine nature.
🤣🤣
I tried to teach myself to mount with my other foot. Felt like a beginner again.
Thank you EUC family
i feel like idiot for not realizing the starting on one leg thing before watching this. Instantly fixed my mounting issues !! thanks so much
I found ski poles worked well when trying to learn to ride. I had no local fence or railing and chose not to learn away from home.
Good tip!!
Great video, thank you.
🙏
Thank you, this was very helpful!
Thanks George!
FROM TIMES SQUARE NEW YORK CITY !!! YOU GO G 1 LOVE & PEACE
Lets do it live!!!

Lol yup, just gotta practice until you are one with the wheel

Awesome 😎 thanks George!?🙏
🍻
Thank you. More tutorials please, at your convenience of course.
I will follow your instruction. Thank you.
Anytime 👍
I'm exactly at this point rite now...great vid...foot placement and one legged control is the key to this art
absolutely 👌

Lol for sure the confidence is the key!!

thanks richard! i plan to go back and remake a bunch of these tips and trick vids soon to keep them fresh and higher quality 👌 glad they help!

Thanks for the vid I get my first (S22) EUC tomorrow.
niiiiice!!
Good advice George, I need to practise that! Gtz from Belgium!
🤘
Very good
Great video! I really needed that! Thank you!
Glad it helps!! 👍😋
Excellent video 🤪👍

I've been improving, still need to work on braking and turning right. But, one leg riding seems hard.. I think I can do it for maybe a sec.. Barely..
I can mount and ride but too scared to do one leg lol. I can mount properly maybe 19/20. Though sometimes when I step on I tend to veer left
Practice one leg! It will make you go 20/20
very useful content, thanks.
👍
And this is what I needed. Thank you. I am on my fifth day and getting quality air time. I’ve uploaded the videos if you want to grade me lol 😂.
Lol ill take a look! Glad it helped!
Nice. Just waiting for the snow to melt... :)
Can't melt fast enough 😵
I'm developing pains in muscles I had no idea existed!😂

Thanks for the drill. Is your mounted foot neutral or putting pressure down with the toes? Whenever i lift my free leg the EUC is wobbly 😅
your uni prolly isn't 33kg, like mine. Im very new to this and right now I can free-mount taking 1 additional step before stepping on. But just holding it upright is very heavy I think.
So when riding one legged.. The EUC is slightly angled towards the riding leg? Isn't it painful?
nah you will get strong enough to basically hold it with your foot
Hey George in your opinion does different modes i.e. Hard/med/ soft effect mounting at all? love your channel btw I look forward to your uploads
Not that i have noticed much, i could maybe see if you had it on 0% soft mode maybe you would get some small pedal dipping. But the same peactice drills should apply regardless. And thanks for watching 😀

Haha. 5000+km and still haven't practiced your stuff. Good useful video. Might get on the training path when snow goes away.
Im sure youve got plenty of practice in during your rides! Still good to isolate your skills and master the ones your weakest in though!!
Two and a half men actor hehe.I miss the sitcom.

🤣🤣🤣 you gotta start with the basics. Practice makes perfect!!
You remind me of the kid on "The Mighty Ducks" who couldn't stop. He was so fast....but couldn't stop.

In my opinion this is very bad idea starting this exercises without couple hours of riding.
riding without a helmet don't think that is wise
I would say confidence is 60% Bike counter steer skill 30% 10% I don't give a F#$&k
🤘
That's a real nice helmet you got there what brand is that... Hahaha LOL😂
Hello George I’m one of your subscribers and I have a question is the emotion v11 a good beginner s wheel or what you suggest thanks
i think its a very good choice for begginers!
