I know these videos are old, but wanted to let you know they're still helping people. My wheel arrives later this week, and I've been watching to get ready when I start learning. Very nice of young Adam Sandler to take the time to teach me.
Thank you... I just finished 50km. I was just wandering what I should do as now im ready for the THEE ride. And here you are telling me what to do. Some time you tube is like an angel 👼 😀
I dealt with foot cramps by resting the ball of the foot at the tip of the pedals so my entire toes are hanging out front. Doing that makes me torque passively so now I'm like the Hulk always restraining to not unleash the beast lol. The big advantage of this is that my legs are dead center on the wheel. Maybe as I gain experience I'll realize this is bad and adjust but for now it seems pretty good.
Nice Tips, I am just beginning to get comfortable on my wheel. My first speed alarm is set at 15mph and I'm starting to hit that now. It's pretty fast, almost scary fast😮
Very good tips and also an intermediate driver should be very careful about the wabbles, and knowing how to counter act them. Thanks for the info ! ℹ️ Good content mate ! 🫡💪🏼🎩
Great tips, I'm the same way with the foot pain. Hurts in the very beginning than I take a quick break and relax my feet than I'm good to go. I think it's just a body adjustment to a strange stance in the beginning.
I ride with centered feet. It gives me grip for jumping. Power pads can reduce the foot cramps. They allow you to use your shins to accelerate in stead of your toes. Also good arch support, orthotics will help.
Say George, Liked your tips! As you know, wheels can now do 40+ mph. A soon-to-be-released Gotway will see 50. Can 60+ be far behind? Like many, I like speed, as much and as long as possible. That said, I'm in no particular hurry to die so I decided to armor-up when a high cruising speed is the prospect. At first I chose standard motocross armor, but after reading the fine print that came with it, which warned to discard it after heavy impact, I decided to get serious and purchased Riddell armor designed to protect football linemen. When a heavy hit comes your way whilst wearing this stuff you don't change it out, normally you simply get back in the line! I also wear a neckbrace, helmet, knee and arm protection. I look at it this way: should 2 tons of Buick hit me in the face, I want to be in the same position as was Willy the Dude on his deathbed. When asked if he was ready, he replied, "ready as I'll ever be!" Better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it! And it only takes 1 time of not having it to end it for you! Looking like an absolute dork whilst riding doesn't do the sport any good so I wear it under oversized, thin shell jackets, which I consider expendable. Works for me. You asked for opinions, this one is mine. Good luck! See you out on the road! Stevereno
thanks for shareing stevereno!! absolutely agree, to much is way better than not enough lol and you only look like a dork until you hit 25+ mph and then heads start to turn
Aside from gravel.. Some roads here have exposed gravel and they are slippery. Like polished stones, I can feel it slipping, like the cement is gone and just gravel is left
Regarding foot cramps - found that adjusting pedal angle on my S18 by -1 degree was a huge change... was able to ride substantially longer distances before feeling that I needed to stop to rest my fatigued feet.
No, not really. I found that moving my feet forward on the pedals (about 1/2 inch) affected acceleration more that pedal angle. I have US size 8.5 shoes, About 3/4 to 1 inch of the toes hang off the front of the pedal….
Hi George, I recently purchased a Five Ten cycling shoes and it gives me a balance between comfort in long distance riding (30 miles+) and still excellent maneuverability. I don't carry a screwdriver since they are useless. Sth wrong with the wheel? Get an uber and go home to fix it. I've fall couple times at high speed I learned I wearing long pants long sleeves all time now. Also I put waist guards on top of my electrician gloves
Lazy rolling performance hoodie. I have one. It has elbow, shoulder, and back protection. It also looks like a normal hoodie, and doesn't get hot in hot weather, if you have some speed going.
As you know George I do food delivery on my EUC ,so last month I got hit by 2 cars and I crashed into a cyclist who dropped something and stopped suddenly without looking back he was fine but I did the superman , anyways yeah wear some gear
im normaly the tiny tiniest bit behind with one foot. then fairly far infront with my other foot. Means i can accelerate quickly and brake quickly. But i also move my feet while riding depending on what terrain im on or how fast i want to go or if im going down a steep hill i go back slightly to brake easier as acceleration isnt really needed as much downhill
re: some arm/shoulder protection- I got the Icon Field Armor compression shirt, it's basically a mesh jersey with kevlar-sealed D30 padding in all the most impact-prone areas: www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/icon-field-armor-compression-shirt
Thank you that thing looks dope. You think its comfortable enough to wear on a hot summer day? Wish they sold it in a different color than black thats going ti absorb heat, a light blue would be perfect
@@GoGeorge Aramid fiber, moisture wicking, it's gotta be cooler in the heat than band-aids. I was going to say anything designed for BMX or Motocross is going to be lighter and more comfy than full highway style motorcycle jackets, and this looks like that.
Hi George, I agree wholeheartedly with your advice on gravel and also dirt patches. First of all I try to avoid loose gravel at all costs, but when I can't I go slow and steady through it same thing with patches of loose sand. Another patch I think we should all be on the lookout for especially this time of year are patches of wet leaves. A few weeks ago my wheel slid out from underneath me as I was going around a bend and I hit a patch of mushy wet leaves in a road that came upon me too fast to avoid.
I've tried riding with one foot forward but it feels too weird to me... Do you ride right foot forward in snowboarding/surfing/skateboarding? Just trying to see if it's the same for Euc's. Thanks!
No if i was skateboarding my left foot is forward and i generate the power with my right leg. So same on euc my left leg is planted to the wheel and my right leg is essentially my throttle
i would disagree just because most motorcycle gloves dont have back of the wrist support. and considering when we crash on an euc you land arms out in front first, your very prone to a broken wrist without wrist aupport
@@GoGeorge A buddy of mine had a EUC crash going about 35 mph. He had a wrist guard but it did not help much. After seeing what happened to his fingers, I purchased a gauntlet the next day. Thanks for the reply.
Its a good learner but its really weak for someone your size. Just dont push it to hard and it shouldn't be an issue. You will want to look into a 100v wheel at somepoint though
@@drakoden so for a large guy, the reason you want to consider a 100v wheel is for the extra power delivery. Theres not a ton of options on the market right this second for guys your size, but they are quickly becoming industry standard. Figure with gear and a backpack you kight be 260+ so you need a really string machine to make sure you dont run into a cutout (be sure to watch my danger video if your unfamiliar with what cutouts are!!) As far as what models are 100v, the cheaper ones are the gotway RS (which would be my recommendation), the gotway nikola+ , the gotway monster v3, the inmotion v12. As far as more expensive machines, the gotway exn, the gotway monster pro, and the veteran sherman are the top 3 wheels available right now imo. (I have an exn which is basically just an RS with more.battery) You can get away with an 84 volt wheel , the mcm5 is really small though and wont last you to long if you want reasonable range and speed. Look at the kingsong 18xl , the inmotion v11, and the gotway tesla v3 1500wh. Those are wheels that will be much safer for someone your size and will last you some time before you need an upgrade
I watched your series when I first got my V12, now with 100 miles I am watching again now that I have a feel for riding. Excellent series and greatly appreciated!
I wear Toughbuilt GelFit knee pads. Substantially cheaper($55) than the popular Leatt ones, though they are made for construction, not wheel sports. There are also cheaper articulated knee pad options with gel pads(Prolock, $45, Sellstrom KneePro, $37), and even cheaper with foam pads instead(Sellstrom Original, $26). Again, made for construction, not wheel sports, so they may not stand up to impacts as well, but... they only have to protect you once, and they can be replaced. For way less than the price of knee surgery. My cell phone stays in my backpack ever since I had a fall at low-speed that didn't really hurt or injure me, but it did shatter the back of my phone.
I love it! The only negative is its a little bit harder to hear while riding with it, but its comfortable feels quality and rides cool so overall id say its a winner

For the shoulder pads, you might try a motorcross armor jacket.

Is your right foot dominate to have it forward?

some space in the backpack for a rain poncho ;p
