The game of alot of our childhoods. Even with all the technology I miss the 90's so much. First Resident Evil I beat after I got over my fear of the game. Used to run out the room if I even saw the commercial for this.
Nice creep factor. I love how the graphic designers were so meticulous and attentive. They made things look so fresh/modern for the times yet tarnished by the prevailing chaos.

The RE2 remake was such a let down. The music in the original really set the tone for almost every scene. I still play RE0 through RECV every Halloween.
I remember when I was in college, the basement of the dormitory building was kinda creepy but not as bad as people would normally expect Plus, there was this work station where some students would work for a few hours. And yes, they'd get paid for it. Because I worked in there too. Anyway, my counselor and my vocational coordinator gave me a job off-campus at the county hospital with the maintenance department, which was right next door to the campus. There, the basement was way worse than the dormitory basement. It was dark and there were these red lights up and down the basement hallway. Plus they had this walk through green light appliance that kills any germs on your skin and your clothes. And of course we sometimes had to work in the autopsy room. I hated it. My coworkers did too. Mostly because of the smell. Working anywhere else in the basement wasn't a problem, but the autopsy room, my least favorite.
My old high school in Michigan center MI has a basement that reminds me of the rpd basement. Dark and dingy, red emergency lights in the distance, dim lights and weird sounds from vents and pipes. Always reminded me of the rpd. The basement was where the detention room, journalism room, computer lab, and boiler room was.
Yeah after you cross the tunnel of spiders and get to the basement, where the licker is crawling, yeah the scariest part of the game but still to this day first appearance of licker is number 1
RE2 orginal will always be the king 👑 the remake was good but it didn’t hit the same as the orginal, the og just had a very unique vibe to it that can’t be replicated.
I use to have a PS2 and RE2 and RE3 originals, RE2 sounds track was better but only because RE3 was a rushed game made in literally one year for PS, the basement soundtrack is always gonna be one no matter how old I am I will always have a dreaded anxiety for. Them dogs down there were not friendly

I have resident evil 2 remake not that good this was way more terrifying the booming and unsettling being in the basement I love the original more I had it for GameCube I was happy and loved it
I feel ready now for another second Resident Evil 2 remake ;) but unfortunately we have to wait for about 16 more years for this. As long as these timeless masterpieces of soundtracks are implemented again everything will be fine.
The parts of this area that stood out to me where the infected Cerberus (Doberman) slowly walking down the hallway, the morgue and also the lickers that spawn there on your return. The 2019 reboot ruined this area and took away its mystery. 98 RE2 is miles better than the rushed trash heap new Capcom dev team shat out.
bro shut the actual fuck up hahahahaha RE2remake was a smash hit im 32 and grew up with the originals as well but to call the remake a "trash heap" youre smoking crack homie nothing was different about the game aside from camera angles the entire story was intact same as RE1 remake that set the bar, 3 how ever was as you say a "trash heap" ONLY for cutting material grave digger, clock tower, park, gas station explosion, mercenaries. they had a chance to make RE3 remake shine in the same way as 1& 2 Remake but they rushed that game and completely cut story which is not wtf you do you only add to the story you never take away.
Awesome, i wish you can do the same with re1 director cut ps1, i believe the old re1,2 and 3 are the best and unforgettable too, and how about Dino crisis 1 &2, they're wonderful as well, good luck you're doing well man.

I now work in a hospital. I take bodies to the morgue as part of my duties. I tell you now it is fucking scary, and there is definitely an odd feeling down there. The basement of RE2 comes to thought every time I am down there, and of course it's in the basement.

I prefer the remake, but in terms of soundtrack, the original RE2 clearly surpasses it, it's so atmospheric and creepy.
