    Taking pharmacology in my surgical technologist program this week and we learned about pitcocin! I can’t wait to tell them about the nipple stimulation🤣 thanks for such a great video as always!!

    Yes nipple simulation really works! I did it for 3 hours, walked around the block & used my pregnancy ball & I went into labor the next day!! 🥰

    The one about the safety pin and red string is because of old myth especially for hispanics of “el mal de ojo” so basically if people would look your baby ugly or desire bad things.. the red string would protect them from those things becoming truth... or something along those lines, can’t quite remember exactly

    • @alirodmd
      @alirodmd  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ohhhh!! I’ve heard of “el mal de ojo” pero never knew that was what you did to protect the baby! This one is also a myth but so interesting

    • @cristinapuente9853
      @cristinapuente9853 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@alirodmd yeah is definitely a myth, but in our hispanic cultures a lot of people still believe in that and always put a red bracelet or string to newborns

    I am Hispanic and my mom would tell me when their was a lunar eclipse to wear a safery pin because it would prevent the babies lip from being a cleft lip. I was also told to wear a red thread or ribbon around my hand to prevent my baby from mal de ojo .

      Was this only for lunar eclipse? I totally forgot to do it yesterday for the solar one and I’m freaking out :(

    The chemicals in hair dye aren’t dangerous? Especially breathing it in? Thanks!

    • @mcnieto1984
      @mcnieto1984 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      yeah, stay away from the chemicals in the nail polish and all that shit. Just because theres no study doesnt mean its not bad for you. No one has scientifically published anything but do we need it? if chemicals are toxic even a little do you think we should have it around a pregnant mother?

    I know this videos 1y old but my wife recently had a miscarriage in Mexico and the people in our mini town told her it was due to the lunar eclipse that happened. So in our believes it is said that when there is a eclipse, lunar or solar , it is recommended to have safety pins in a cross near or in the bellybutton area to prevent harm to the baby by the light of the moon or shadow of the sun while the eclipse is happening. When my wife had her miscarriage and went to the Doctor about 6 other Señoras were there who were also having miscarriages. My wife had safety pins in her underwear and bellybutton but stepped outside when the lunar eclipse was in effect and now everyone says it was cause of that. But in reality we will never know why.

    My sister's are constantly insisting pineapple juice is going to cause issues. Me and my wife are honestly getting sick of hearing this from them. 21 weeks and she's healthy and my wife is doing well.

    I was told by someone that I know, that once you are pregnant you aren't allowed to have any dogs around you because you can get extremely sick I don't know if that is a myth or not but I just want to ask if this is true or not so that when I do get pregnant in the future that I know ahead of time just in case.

    The safely pen I'm not sure but my grandma would say you are to put a red string on a newborn baby while on your period because you would cause the baby to have upset stomach while you hold them.

    The one about the pregnant persons' beauty influencing the gender of the baby I've actually heard the other way around. If the moms pretty, it's a boy, and if not, it's a girl. Basically, people think the baby girl is taking away the moms beauty lmao. Obviously super false

    The umbilical cord theory is such a Mexican folktale 🤣
    I totally believed this. I went my entire pregnancy without reaching for anything higher then my head, my first baby came out with the cord around his neck and I was so Superstitious. But my pregnancies after that I don’t believe anymore 🤣🤣

  • @Legal.Knievel
    @Legal.Knievel 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I read that studies have found that they're actually is a connection between heartburn and hair! Anecdotally, it was true for me. Two times I had heartburn, babies had tons of hair! One time I didn't and baby was a baldie 😂

    • @alirodmd
      @alirodmd  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I’ll have to see if there’s any new studies! The ones I’ve read in the past didn’t show any correlation and no statistical significance!

    I stopped listening after she said Latinx community, the Hispanic community doesn’t like this term, why would we keep calling them that? Seems offensive to me.

    • @mommymaureen

      Full blooded Latina here and that term drives me crazy. Especially that it was invented by white people!

    • @sophialukis9843

      Yea but sims Hispanics prefer it so? The term is inherently inclusive and not offensive. Just bc some people don’t go by that term doesn’t make it offensive
