if Jack Crawford made it in time to avenge Clarice by shooting Buffalo Bill to death, but what if Hannibal saved Clarice and catherine by killing Buffalo Bill/Jame Gumb because spoilers of the sequel Hannibal (2001)
I think we can't discount the idea that he might burn down his whole house, with or without the hostage/dog inside, in order to hide as much evidence as possible.
A good question. Hard to get inside the mind of someone like Bill. But, with Clarice dead, I think he would know the jig is up and sacrifice the dog, or at least negotiate in bad faith. It would devastate him but his survival instinct would override it. He would definitely attempt to preserve some moth chrysalises if possible, as well as what he had of the suit, in his car as he left.
Yeah defo think you're right about the moths & suit, he'd easily have time. The dog is a whole different box of frogs though... I guess on the one hand if you're capable of brutal murder then letting a dog die seems plausible. On the other side though, it looks a lot like precious is his only companion, which could be something he would be unwilling to sacrifice. My guess is that you're right though. I think he burns it to the ground as quickly as possible, starting the fire in the basement so it causes maximum damage before the fire brigade arrive.
Do *you* think she would have survived?

That my friend is a very good point 😅
But do you think he would? With precious and his moths inside🤔

Lecter's in Haiti at the end of the movie.
Great point I had no idea ha. I wonder if he was in the area during the showdown at Bill's house 🧐
