- The NBC sitcom Young Rock tells the story of the upbringing of Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, whose father was also a professional wrestler. Because of this, Johnson grew up surrounded by wrestling royalty, including Andre the Giant. Obviously, not every actor could audition for the part of a man so huge he was literally nicknamed “the Giant,” but the part eventually went to former football star Matthew Willig. The actor has appeared in plenty of TV shows and movies over the years, so it’s likely you’ve seen him in something before. Andre needs his own movie about his life, The stories wrestlers have told about him during interviews is absolutely hilarious.

I had a dinner date about 2 years.ago with a very pretty former flight attendant! She told me about working a flight where Andre was a passenger. She said that you could not ask for a nicer Guy! Andre also made it a point to schmooze with all the kids and sign autographs!
They have one on HBO its documentry like and its about the life and times of Andre The Giant
The casting people did an amazing job for this pilot. The actors look so much like the real wrestlers in their prime as I remember them..specially the Wild Samoans,Iron Sheik and Rocky Johnson. Rock's Mom reminds me of Patti Labelle!, and the actress who plays her here
comes out as so likeable!.
I think they did a good job of getting some of the actors to look like the wrestlers and that Chavo Guerrero is heading the wrestling portions of the show but... guys like Stone Cold, Undertaker and those who are still alive could also play their own WWWF/WWF/WWE Personas I know Hogan would love to play that again.
They should recast him as the undertaker in case there’s flashbacks of the rock’s time in the “attitude era.”
There won't be because this show is set in the time before Rock went to the WWF.

Yeah, that's bad, but I don't think they meant any disrespect. They most likely didn't know that was his mug shot. I didn't. And seeing it, I didn't even notice that it was a mugshot. But I'm just guessing that they ran across the pic while looking for something to use in the video and were unaware that's what the picture was of. Who knows?

@@V8Supercar1 I stood next to The Rock who was billed as 6'5" and we were the same height. I am 6' 2 1/2". The weights and heights are all false.
@@V8Supercar1 He was billed at that height. But he was over 500lbs. They did use some tricks to make him look taller. For example, when ever Vince would interview Andre, Andre would be standing on a box to make him look a lot taller. Of course, his actual height would be exposed when going up against Hulk Hogan and you can clearly see Andre not being that much taller. Hogan was also billed as taller than he really was too.

Growing up in The Bronx as a little kid I ran into a man named Eddie Carmel , aka the Jewish Giant . He was well over eight feet tall but his gigantism was crippling, and his quality of life was very poor 😔

@@mdwm1981 andre was actually 6'10 and get much taller after he was 19. he got bigger and gained a lot of weight. so he was more like 2 inches or 4 inches tall then mathew willig. some source say willig is 6'8 and other say 6'6
