Looks very sturdy, better than the pre made deals for sure. We sold a few at a trailer shop I worked at and most people complained that there was to much side to side movement. I usually watch TH-cam on my TV and I can't post comments, I have to go on the old computer for that!
Hi Moe, another nice build. Years back I had a Chevy conversion van that we used for vacations, As big as it was no room for luggage. I am guilty of buying one, but it was great for carrying luggage. I just mounted the plate on it during the trip. This is such a versatile tool well worth fabricating or buying.
Nice build. I Built one very similar, but then added a removable ramp so I can roll mowers and large snow blowers up on it. I even hauled a V8 engine on it rather than getting the my trailer out. They are great especially if you have to haul something dirty and don't want to get the inside of the SUV dirty.
It's those diagonal cross bars extending all the way to the corners at a slight compound angle that provide the strength. Otherwise it could easily twist off and dump your load on the highway right into oncoming traffic, a harrowing image in my mind right now.
Great job. Wanted one of those for gear and one to put a motorcycle on. Always worried about whether the suspension would handle it or would I be dragging the tail. Easier to get around with than a trailer plus toll roads can't charge for extra axle. You might be able to tell I don't like toll roads.
I've hauled engines, multiple snowblowers, multiple mowers, atv's and more on these without incident. I've even done so with my wife's Ford Escort on many occasions; typically with 100-200lbs but have put 300lbs+ several times. The car sags with this weight but it is very tolerable at freeway speeds. The trucks/SUV sag at 500lbs but are far less noticeable, in fact you forget it's back there.
Nice build. I think you should inform your subscribers that in most, if not all states, it is illegal to obscure your license plate. NY uses cameras to enforce red light and speed violations. They also many times bill you by plate number. Police are beginning to enforce the plate obstruction law more these days. The will not entertain you saying you did not realize you were blocking the plate.
I've got the Fury 6 but I'd like to get a Rage 6 but but I can't justify the expense at the moment. Very handy for pallet wood full of nails and other rip killers.
I was sitting here shaking my head while watching your video thinking, damn, now that's some crazy good skills! Most of us peasants have to fork over a bundle of cash for one of those.
sixtyfiveford Hey but if your still driving the truck then you won't need the Hover-round I guess.......maybe a V8 engine mod is called for when your ready to get old.
you could make a qd attachment for a simple axle with light but tall wheels so you could slide a t bar on the mount & wheel this around to move it without the truck to cart stuff around instead of carrying it back & fourth.
That is so cool. The stuff inside doesn't take up any space. Great job!! I do have to ask though, you seem to like cut off saws and not metal cutting bandsaws. Why is that? Bandsaw too slow?
have you had trouble with the receiver hitch mounted to the frame of the vehicle twisting/warping such that the platform angles downward & drags the ground? I used one w/ 2" steel with about 300 lbs of luggage on a vacation. After about 1000 miles, the platform was almost dragging the ground. Any tips on reinforcing receiver hitch mounts?
I've never had the hitch itself bend nor the frame. 2" receiver hitches are rated to at least 500lbs but their little brother the 1 1/4" only have 200 and 300lb weight ratings. These ratings are directly at where the the trailer ball would sit. The further out/back you go the more leverage works against you and could bend the hitch. So I try to tuck heavier items closer to the vehicle(front of the rack) and lighter stuff rearwards. I would think the rack itself would be bending before the hitch.
Most states have Farm Use plates, you just never see them as they vehicles spend 99% of their time on the farm. This is just a random plate I have laying around.
My mates have the ball type hitch for caravans and traylors, never noticed if the ball part could be removed, i must be bilnd. Mostly im tinkering with the multipin plug that connects the car to trailer/caravan, they get really messed up wiring wise.
They are super light duty only good for 50 to 100 lbs of static load. You need one made of 3/16 inch steel to make it so it can carry 250lb of load or mid size dirt bike.
@@HealthSupercharger they claim #500, I can't remember ever having #500 on em, I have had them full before. Two ice chests and misc items, then a truck bed box full of tools and road trip items, and I have carried a ~#200 plate compactor on one of them. No doubt Moe's is better tho.

Yeah, they have a little wobble.

Thanks. It comes in handy all the time. This one was for my brother in law who fell in love with mine.

They come in very handy. I've hauled countless things on my larger one. I opted to just use separate ramps as my large one is very heavy.
@@sixtyfiveford how large is it? 3ft wide? 2.5ft? or 2ft?
@@HealthSupercharger 5ft wide and 3ft deep
made one of those with a solid floor and sides to haul driveway cinders without having to load them in the pickup bed. works great
Nicely done.
Another great vid by SFF. Cool project.
Thanks.

I would call that a mother in law balcony. Nice build Moe!
Haha!
I was thinking a whole kid cage would be cool, but moe in law ... much better idea
I put mine in the trailer and forget to put the hitch pin back. Whoops 😬

I just picked up a cheap one off ebay.
Nice job man. Looks like you had fun fabricating the carrier
Thanks. My brother in law needed one so I volunteered to make one. What was I thinking....
You had one of those weak "will work for beer" moments lol Take care dude
the 2 x 2 tubing that goes into the receiver do you recommend it to be 1/8, 3/16" or 1/4" thick? for a 250lb dirt bike carrier
3/16 or 1/4

Now you can carry your Hover-round when you get past old age........nice build again.
Heck yeah.

Band saws are bulky and slow but do a great job.
sixtyfiveford Yeah true. Its 6 of this and half a dozen of that.

class 3 receiver hitches are needed for these, because they are rated for 500 lb. class 2 is not ideal for these
Awesome work! You have some great skillz!
Thanks.
The larger one makes a great zombie barrier. And when you're not using it you could stop it away on the roof rack.
Great build
Cheers, Patrick
Thanks Patrick. -Moe
An im sure its Stronger an was built cheaper then the units from HFT lol, good work i say always make your own if you have the means to do so..
Thanks.
Nice idea and a useful addition for more space. The lic plate being covered up here they go crazy about - don't bother you in your state ?
I've never been bothered but could easily move the plate to the carrier if need be.
Very cool cargo carrier.
Hey Thanks.
Thank you ima make a combo of both
grate build man
thanks
Thanks man.
great job looks awesome
Hey Thanks.
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks.
Moe another great job and vid. thanks tom
Thanks Man.
very cool looks awesome
Thanks. My brother in law wanted one, so I told him I'd make him this one.
Nice job.
Hey Thanks.
what state has a special plate for farms?
Most states have Farm Use plates, you just never see them as they vehicles spend 99% of their time on the farm. This is just a random plate I have laying around.
Excellent fab work as always my good Friend! Cheers! Zip~
Thanks.
Nice
Thanks.
You did it again...impressed me. :)
Thanks.
good job
great for my lawnmower..
They come in very handy.
nice job!
Thanks Man.
cool
Hey Thanks.
I hate you fabricator guys! Y'all can design, part, assemble, weld, ALL kinds of stuff!! Grrr....!! 👍
I wish I had that Ford truck parking sign
I think they're about 10bucks on Amazon.
Ok thanks so much
You clever sod lol ;-D
Im not sure i like the single center mounting, but its designed to towing so its stronger than it looks so ill shut up lol :-D.
Ideally 2 mounts would be nice but virtually all vehicles in the US have this single center receiver hitch.

I've never been hassled and I see these all the time blocking plates. But you can easily mount the plate to it if you're concerned.
good job done thanx ehhh
Thanks
