    Following a spiritual experience at the age of 25, Sadhguru Vasudev became a mystic; he started conducting yoga classes to share his inner experience with the aim of making ancient yogic sciences relevant to contemporary minds. The Sadhguru founded the Isha Foundation which now has more than two million volunteers, and over 150 city-based centres world- wide. In 2012 he was voted among the hundred most powerful Indians.
    ABOUT THE OXFORD UNION SOCIETY: The Oxford Union is the world's most prestigious debating society, with an unparalleled reputation for bringing international guests and speakers to Oxford. Since 1823, the Union has been promoting debate and discussion not just in Oxford University, but across the globe.

In my opinion, those who are seeking for wisdom should learn some thing from SadhGuru. Even my son , a University Graduate from the United States, like his way of teachings. Jagadish Vasudev OBVIOUSLY possesses an above-average intellect (although he often makes truly inane statements, such as “plants are more sensitive than animals, and they scream in pain when being eaten”).
      However, if anyone considers him a "Sadhguru" then kindly explain to me how a so-called "prophet” (Jagadguru) can possibly support the two most PERNICIOUS institutions in the history of the world...
      F.I.S.H. Paragraph 28. Feminism is the penultimate evil at present because feminism is based on the misguided assumption that women are equal to or even superior to men. Although a female can exhibit superior traits, skills, etcetera, to some men, a woman can never have AUTHORITY over a man. Truth be told, no true man would ever descend to the level of accepting counsel from any of his subordinates. A man should fully obey his appointed masters and never emasculate himself by submitting to the dictates of a female. Feminism and democracy are guaranteed to destroy society, as can be clearly seen at present.
      However, feminism will NEVER EVER be destroyed until the most pernicious institution is first destroyed:
      F.I.S.H Paragraph 26. Democracy is evil because the masses will invariably choose the murderous Barabbas over the good King Jesus. This planet is surely doomed unless the most pernicious institution ever known to man (democracy) is replaced by the only legitimate form of government (monarchy - preferably a good monarch, though even a bad king is preferable to being ruled by an elected official who can never be good). Most of the problems in human society are directly or indirectly attributable to this relatively modern phenomenon, since it is the government’s role and sacred duty to enforce the law. Just because good and bad are relative, does not imply that they do not exist. They do exist but are relative. A democrat can never be good, despite appearing so.
      One of the many sinister characteristics of democracy, communism and other evil forms of governance, is the desire for their so-called “leaders” to attempt to control or at least influence the personal lives of every single citizen.
      For example, in the wicked, decadent nation where this holy scripture was composed, The Southland (or Australia as it is known in the Latin tongue), the demonic government tries and largely succeeds in controlling the rights of parents to properly raise, discipline and punish their children according to their own morals, limiting legitimate powers an employer has over his servants, persecuting religious leaders (even to imprisonment and death, believe it or not) and even trying to influence what people eat and wear. Not that a government shouldn’t control what its citizens wear in public, but it should ensure that they are modestly dressed, which is hardly the case in Australia and similar nations. Basically, the worst of the democratic governments promote or at least permit all things contrary to God’s perfect and pure will such as adultery, fornication, prostitution, pornography, homosexuality, gambling (even running lotteries themselves), illegitimate abortion of poor innocent unborn children, irreligion, drug addiction, disrespect for authority and promoting materialism and ignorance via a powerful network of institutions of miseducation (so-called “schools, colleges and universities”).
      Let it be known however - democracy can not and will not endure. The truth shall triumph!
      Democracy is only acceptable within large business corporations, where the shareholders must vote on who will be the company bosses and other matters.

    I feel it is unfair to blame the audience. We need to understand that we are naturally acquainted and oriented to our culture. As a result whatever Sadhguru says we can very easily relate to. However, for the people like these it may take some time and it is perfectly fine. I am really very happy to see that at least they are willing and this itself paves the way for great possibilities.
    May we all know this piece of LIFE in its entirety by his grace and blessings.

    I am just left spellbound. The mystic himself imparting the profound wisdom of ancient yogic sciences. This is the most relevant thing today. Oxford has done a great job. Our idea of science is very constipated. There's a whole science and technology in the realm of consciousness. The time has come for the world to not believe in any dogmatic religion and try it out and see for itself what place can an inner quest lead them to. Amazing session. Namaste from India 🙏

    If you are truly interested in truth, put your prejudices aside and try to see what Sadhguru is trying to tell you.
    There comes a rare being every thousand years or so, I think we must accept that we do not know and try to benefit from his presence rather than childishly wasting our time in preassumptions and single-minded arguments.
    Good luck.

      Sadhguru would not agree spreading around words like "holy". He doesn't believe so there is no man like figure in the sky and certainly he would if existed consider certain parts of his creation "holy" and others not. holy is a name made up by people who pretend a more important man from their origin walked this peace of earth

    It's good to see that they recognised the right individual and invited him to explain certain things. It's very unfortunate that most people will not realise the reality of things because the disastrous religions and new age stuff has made an impression in their minds that there is nothing that's mystical in nature, there's nothing that physical sciences cannot grasp. But the science has come to a crossroads where physical has ended and now they are talking about non physicality. This man has mechanisms, experience, capability, strength, compassion to impart the world. Anybody who is reading this, please be a little more open to this being especially. Because I've personally realised that he is a possibility of going beyond physical. He is the doorway. You don't have to believe me. Just be sincere and listen to him and if you get a chance then be in his presence. After that, if you think it's no good, then never return to him and you can even criticize him vehemently. But just don't deny this possibility in your life. My greetings.

      Stephen Brown exactly bro I think thay these matters are to be given thought. Even great minds such Neil deGraase Tyson has also stated that we only know about 5% of whats around us. Thus in my opinion we should keep our options open rather then hitting our head on an imaginary road block.

    • @KaranSharma-pw1dd
      @KaranSharma-pw1dd 7 ปีที่แล้ว +20

      Only 4% of all of our Universe is physical. We can experience only that much of it, thanks to the limits of our senses and our brain. The remaining 96% is called Dark Matter and Dark Energy. Richard Panek has written a book, "The 4 Percent Universe", which explains its discovery rather well, accepting that we may never actually know this 96%.
      Also, I think it's the difference of perceptions. The Indian culture, in general, has propounded a different approach to life. The ancient people never payed as much attention to understanding the science of life, as they did to develop the best ways to live it. I sometimes feel, that after going all around, all of the world, including our modernizing (hand-in-glove-westernizing) India, will realize that the ancient Indian way to live is the best.

    • @KaranSharma-pw1dd
      @KaranSharma-pw1dd 7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Planet Unknown, yes, I tried to address your question. I say "tried", for I did not actually explain how we comprehend the non-physical. But, this is now scientifically established that 96% of the Universe is non-physical. We know only this much. What does it comprise of is still an astronomic mystery (or question, if you will)! Richard Panek, as I mentioned earlier, talks about various experiments which led us to the non-physical part of the Universe. Later, some scientists called it dark-matter and dark-energy. Even these terms are not defined well. Sometimes you'll see particle physicists and astronomers use the term "empty space", which again is non-physical, and not well-defined. So, we just know that there's something non-physical, but we haven't actually understood what it comprises of.
      In both, philosophy and science, "nothing" has been a very important concept. The scientist like Lawrence Krauss says that "something" can come from "nothing" and he defines "nothing" as "empty space". I, too, cannot understand how "nothing" can be defined as anything. Yet, he defines it as "empty space". How can human mind ever get the concept of "nothing"!

    • @KaranSharma-pw1dd
      @KaranSharma-pw1dd 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      ***** There's a video on TH-cam where Lawrence Krauss is in discussion with Richard Dawkins, where he clearly mentions that astronomically, "nothing" can be equated with "empty space". He went on to say that it could be proved how from "empty space" matter can come into existence. I think this implies that there was no matter in "empty space"/ "nothing". So, "nothing" IS a concept in theoretical and astronomical physics, you see? I stand corrected over that only 4% is physical comment. I meant to say that it's only that much we can know of through our senses.

    • @KaranSharma-pw1dd
      @KaranSharma-pw1dd 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      ***** I agree. The rest of the spectrum is not non-existent. We just can't see it. Yogic sciences also say something similar... For example, the 3rd eye, which when awakened, helps you to experience things that were previously non-existent for us because of the limits of our sensory organs. The West has translated these terms into English, and then made them sound like a bunch of "woo woo" terms. Another term is "vivek", which was poorly translated into Arabic, as "zameer" and then into English, as "conscience". Vivek, once awakened, will be one's best faculty, one's best guide to get the best experiences of life.

    A most enlightening and compelling talk by Sadhguru. Sadhguru guides us into realising how each one of us can actually awaken to our lives and make clear choices to achieve conscious awareness and joyfulness. Whether ones agrees or not, there is great deepness to his words and life to at least stop and ponder about. I commend The Oxford Union for bringing this wonderful talk to the public realm. I remember when I was in University, and I can understand this crowd how they are anxious not to reveal that they also do not know much. They are suppose to know and be clever and here is a guru who claims that he is uneducated. Where does this kind of visdom come from and he does not just answer the questions with his sharp intellect, he is also using this indian psychology which makes western psychology look like kinder garden (which it is compared to indian) it sounds so simple and straight forward.
    The questions from the students actually seems very confused....."where do You draw the line between ease of mind and apathy?" It is alarming that a student at this level does not have more insight into what it means to be human. Apathy does not come from ease, it comes from stress, it comes from not being able to find solutions to cope with life. It is perhaps in a way what we see represented here in this silent crowd of scholars.
    A question like this should tell us that something is wrong with our education system. Science are so fascinated with our intellect and we believe so much in its capability that we are almost unaware about the functioning of the intelligence in the body/mind system as he points out in the goat being turned into human example. The further we distance ourselves from life, the being as such, in our belief in the intellects ability to find solutions - the further away we go from the simple message here of simply being human: enjoying the gift that life is.
    The grass is always more green somewhere else, but should that make You sad? You woke up this morning while maybe a quarter of a million people didn't. Look at Your life and and that You have it in You. What are You going to do about it, with it?
    Its a wonderful possibility, its all yours and You are free to use it as You please, and You also hold full responsibility for it:-)
    Walk into the truth, the light and be honest with yourself. Life is just to great to not get turned on:-)

    I've only just found this guy. But been on my own spiritual a few months now. Have completely changed from the person I used to b. My life has changed so much internally and out. Still going deeper inside myself. I now spend as much time in nature as possible. Changed what I eat to as organic as I can. Growing my own food. Always with animals. A few months ago being alone was my biggest fear. N tourture would have been to b trapped in my own head. Now I prefer to b alone n the notes in my own head has quietened down so much. I am more at peace n in awe of the world. And the thing I thought were bad in my life are now positive n learning experiences. I feel are emotion love as awe n wonder in the world now. It started with saying one good thing about myself in the mirror each day this took months to even b able to look at myself in the mirror n say one good thing. I now think more good things than bad about everything. I'm far from perfect but and still slip up in my thoughts. But I now ignolage when I do and correct my thoughts

    The greatness and richness of Indian Philosophy has sometimes been hidden by being tied to religion. The case in most of the rest of the world's cultures. Indian Philosophers are still leading the way. And their spiritual level remains in the realms of logic.

      Aditi aher - My point was that it wasn't a very enthusiastic lecture. He's a wonderful man, but very uninspiring in this video. Having looked at it again, I think the audience has caused it. They are very materialistic from Oxford University generally and I think he had a hard time getting the audience to interact. I think he hasn't chosen the best audience to be compassionate of nature from the background in which the audience have come from. I don't see the point in trying to teach these sort of people. What did he find himself there for? They really do have an ego at Oxford. If he's so spiritual, which he is, why on earth did he choose people like this to lecture to. Why isn't he reaching out to less fortunate than the Oxford people, they have enough, too much in fact. Why isn't he with the sick or the poor or the humble. Why choose an arrogant lot. How did he find himself with them?

    As I watched this video and listened to Sadguru, and observed the Oxford University students' response to his talk, to his jokes, and to the incidents he described so vividly and humorously, a question arose in my mind: When students attend Oxford University, do they lose their sense of humor? Most of the students did not laugh at his jokes. I have heard him telling the same jokes to different audiences at several cities in India; the people laughed at his jokes heartily. But not at Oxford University, obviously.

    what is so great about this man is not what he knows but what he don't know, he is not afraid or ashame to tell you he don't know but he never stop there , that open the possibilities to seek for truth, and not just take in anything anyone tells you. such simple common sense is lacking. He did not give us a rule book on life and happiness but he use his words, like a key to open our locked mind and the rest is up to us.

    The audience being quiet shows that they're actually listening and learning. When you have crowds that actively nod and agree or disagree with what the speaker says, they're just confirming their own biases. These people are probably thinking deeply about how the things they're hearing apply to their lives.

I was impressed. the smartest of all will be exalted in places that will affect us all.
