- This video includes unseen footage of our dedicated vets caring for Budi when he first arrived at our centre.
We are reflecting on this video today, as this time of year marks two years since Budi was rescued by our team and rushed to our veterinary clinic. Budi’s devastating story touched the hearts of thousands of people around the world and helped to raise awareness of the plight of orangutans.
Budi has come such a long way since this first video was taken two years ago. Even now, it is shocking to see the state Budi was found in. We are so grateful to everyone who donated to help us care for him; he wouldn’t have survived without you.

Budi was in such heartbreaking condition. He has the heart of a lion to have been able to want to live in spite of being in such excruciating pain. His caregivers are angels.
This poor little guy was so terrified, so alone, and lost the will to live, but thankfully these incredible people helped him. Hearing his cries of pain was heartbreaking knowing what this innocent little guy had to endure. Thank God for these sanctuaries.
I love that they specifically weighed the baby in arms and simply did some math rather than put this precious little babe on a cold scales. You are wonderful humans for helping this sweet baby soul 💜

I am doing a research for my own curiosity, I am looking at all the rescue videos and check the likes and "dislikes", and it amazes me to discover how many people dislike the sad emotional rescues of skeletal, sick, dying, diseased, animals!! I can't help but cry when I see those videos and I am sure lots of you do so. It seems that the dislikes come from the people who do the hurting, the ones who intentionally abuse and hurt helpless animals, those people which I call "future criminals" watch those videos to enjoy looking at those animals at the beginning of the videos and click on "dislike" at the end, when they see them happy and healthy.

These people are truly remarkable. The work they do is saving a species. When these little guys are rescued they truly are in rough shape; starving, atrophied, and emotionally scarred. Yet these caregivers (vets, nurses, nannies ect) turn that around and get them back in the trees. They are hero’s and there is not enough videos educating us on them. All I can do is boycott palm oil in my life. Thanks again for the upload.
Poor Budi, he inspires me so much compassion. He's totally defenseless. Humans have made this planet a very cruel world for these beautiful creatures.

Even though this occurred 5+ years ago, this still broke my heart into a gazillion pieces. How humans can be so torturous and injurious to a tiny, sweet animal like this is beyond me!!! I hope the abusers were located and are rotting in a prison as we speak!! Even the worst, most evil, and the most painful torture wouldn’t be enough punishment for the evil bastards!!

This tiny baby's pain absolutely breaks my heart.
It was this story regarding Budi that finally stimulated me to donate to multiple sanctuaries. This little dude captured my heart.
Check out the Alturas Wildlife Sanctuary in Costa Rica. Some of the stories are incomprehensible inhuman.

Powerful clip. That moment at 6:03 with the nurse down on one knee holding Budi against her was like a Renaissance painting. These nurses and all those involved in saving these animals are a walking testimony of compassion.

This is so sad. How can people be so cruel. It's so kind of these caring people to nurse this poor little baby orangutan back to health. Aloe Vera drinking gel is very good for the joints. If I could I would give my time to look after these poor unfortunate animals. It's so heart breaking, yet so comforting to know that these lovely people are nursing him back to health. Thank you so much for being so caring and kind.

Yes, that's my first reaction as well. I believe that violence begets violence though, and it keeps alive a chain of negativity. The person who finally takes the high road gets to be the one who affects change and becomes an agent of evolution.
hypoeddy it was a case of neglect and feeding him the wrong food (condensed milk), not actual violence anyone did to him, that caused his condition. He was kept in a cage and fed condensed milk, which was bloating and basically poisoning him. He couldn't get exercise due to his cage, and that with the diet really did a number on him.

I have Lupus, and RA. I know that pain all over . I want to give him my Prednisone, and methotrexate to ease that baby's pain. My ex husband is a huge marshmallow when it comes to animals. And seeing this sweet baby in agony, from cruel people mistreating him broke our hearts. That baby is not the animal. The person that mistreated this baby is the animal. I love how his big baby eyes keeps looking up at her with love, and trust is these women. This is probably the first interaction of loving nurturing people. You women are amazing, God Bless you 🙏🏻💜💙. Those big, sweet eyes looking at the camera and blinking. How could anyone mistreat the beautiful tiny baby? It just makes me cry. I just hate to see that sweet little thing in so much pain.
