While ur using lcs to operate switches and accesories, can u still use the cab 2 to run trains?

I'll stick to my TMCC. The TMCC will last longer as a durable product than LCS because LCS will then not be available in the near future because it will be replaced by something else. So in the end, TMCC or Legacy are the solutions in terms of well long-term. LCS is more of a Short-term.

Does anyone know if you can set up the LCS Wifi system without a Legacy controller (since they're backordered for the next decade)? I'd love to run my trains with the legacy features, instead of conventionally. Sorry if I missed this explanation in the video - any help is much appreciated! Cheers~

I don't think LCS is the solution. To me, its just more of a hassle to deal with. I rather have fun memorizing the ID numbers rather than just dealing with a touch screen.

SteamKing2160 true I agree. I don't care much for touch screens. I do like the concept of the lcs tho.

Btw when are you going to phase out Legacy and go to a Cab-3?
My idea name for the cab-3 is the Innovation. Innovation because thats what Lionel does: it innovates or makes new and cool features.

I am working on a solution for that so the answer would be yes *(with a custom adapter), I have more about the efforts on my channel.

All fine and dandy *and very impressive (for MOST), but NOT all. Whatever you label it as, (unless I'm mistaken) its STILL Radio based !. Therefore, In large "concentric" and large over / under "complex" Layout environments, it's often rendered useless. In my example (this was some years ago being fair) *I worked in concert WITH YOU (Lionel) and after an exhaustive effort to eliminate many signal issues (inc. the "ground-planing" effect) all attempts failed. Again: a great system for "most"

    • @ryanmorrison8307
      @ryanmorrison8307 4 ปีที่แล้ว

Sounds like you need the DM TMCC buffer. It's a TMCC/Legacy signal booster that solves signal issues on huge layouts.

    • @TommyZTrains

@@ryanmorrison8307 Back in "my time" T.A.S. had that "booster" as well (it was a "no-win / no difference" result). Look at even the most currant builds / & layouts, and you'll still see Centenary lines, wire , metal "panels" hanging near by, "earth grounds", redundant power districts, Star wiring, "grid" wiring, home-run wiring, and on & on .... "ALL will fail". I recall (and still have a paper trail / letters) when Lionel itself was working in concert WITH ME ... "They were true-blue / and GREAT" !!! , *Mike Reagan's as "good" as it / or "they" get" (He started with / owned "T.A.S) ... Anyway, Later: "they" / & he would come clean and say "it can't be done" / "we cannot provide you with any other suggestions / amid any resolve" here. ALL of the attempt was our 'trying' to "invent" a means of resolve, ["and that it COULD be overcome"]. Roger Carp (from CTT Magazine) was waiting ("as were we"), and was going to do a Story Feature relegated toward this "more & more familiar" topic ... but again: "their was no way ta win" / so we all (an Lionel was VERY helpful / and VERY VERY amicable BTW) "moved-on". The "ground-plaining effect (in my example) was iffy at best / "but overall / it (the system) failed" ... later: I would add redundant antenna's, insulate (as to use the engines railings AS Antenna's) ... "I didn't give-up easily". Lastly: I worked with "Ben" (with the New Jersey Group), and they too / all but abandoned the "cause".
Later would come "DCS", and it to was a plague with not only these / but many OTHER problems !. But at least it (later) would (and did) work ... *at a 98 % level of operation* ... "doooooable" .
Then, someone said "hang a light blab on the line" / and after that; "utter perfection" was had / "DONE". It's NOT a: "nobody that's "better", or an "orange vrs. purple" war that's going-on here ... it's a simple fact that digital will always win over "air" (or / a radio-based signal). The ground plain effect cannot be over-come with the MULTI-LEVEL Concentric-loop runners environment. THE ANNOYING PART ? / SOMETIMES it would actually "go" (work). !!!!!!!!!!!!
End run: (& In this most currant setting) / "I personally don't care either way". : - ) "I was happiest (in looking back) with a transformer / with a whistle button" !. BEST.

@@TommyZTrainsVery interesting, I am in the TMB train club and the buffer was a big help. A pretty recent addition is the amplitude adjustment mod for the TMCC buffer board. The original without that output adjustment can have an opposite effect of canceling itself out and also interfering with DCS too.
Like you say though it's funny how none of these issues come up with Transformer control lol.
As you might have seen on my channel though I am more focused allowing the Legacy system to control the newer Bluetooth based LionChief trains directly. I have had great success with that recently allowing a LionChief plus loco to respond to TMCC commands sent from the Cab2 remote.

@@ryanmorrison8307 Their ALL GOOD when they run Ryan. "I had a fun-time / in my time", but: now I'm on the outs, "and I don't really care". Lionel make GREAT trains / so did MTH . : - )

Make it work for Android and then we will talk.

Did you say Android? You can use my apps for a whole lot cheaper than Lionel's LCS as long as you have a wi-fi network. No other hardware required. You don't even need to buy Lionel's LCS wi-fi module. Check out these ebay and Play Store links.
