François Vérove also known as the "Pockmarked Man" was a French serial killer, rapist and police officer who murdered at least three people between 1986 and 1994 in the Île-de-France region: A 11 year old girl, a 38 year old man and the 20 year old German au pair who worked at the man's place. He also raped 3 girls : 8, 11 and 14 years old. Vérove committed suicide in September 2021 upon realizing that he was about to be identified thanks to DNA. In his suicide note he implied he committed other crimes that the authorities are yet not aware of. Investigators are therefore currently working on 31 victims attributable to Vérove, including 9 murders.
