1000 percent i just wish the woman that wrote the book about it Michelle McNamara would’ve lived to see it, her book ill be gone in the dark is phenomenal she’d be over the moon they caught him- the same name ill be gone in the dark is now a series about the work towards solving the case you HAVE to watch it if youre interested in the behind the scenes!!
I had a heart attack at 39,and in Abilene Tx, one of the nurses who helped save my life was the wife of one of the retired detectives who helped catch Gary Ridgeway. That’s my quasi connection to a serial killer.
It wasnt just Paul Holes...Michelle McNamara had suggested genetic genealogy as a way of breaking the case before she sadly passed away. Her work was largely responsible for keeping the case moving.
I actually truly love this list I really hate the idea that there are some serial killers out there who still haven’t been caught and made the face Justice
@@tomasgaspar8065”Due in large part to McNamara's efforts in tying these crime clusters together in public consciousness after the EAR and ONS crimes were linked by DNA, the murderer was later to be known only as the Golden State Killer (GSK).” She might not have had anything to do with his arrest but she had a huge impact on the case.
There’s a little more to how the BTK killer got caught. IIRC he had sent a letter to the police some years after his reign of terror had originally ended and asked if they could trace computer discs, I can’t remember if he sent CD ROMs or hard discs, and the police told him they couldn’t. After he sent the disc they traced it and when they caught him he was more pissed that they lied to him about not being able to trace the disc!
You didn’t talk about the Hwaseong murders in South Korea during the 1980s and 90s. They found the serial murderer in 2019, and he was already serving a life sentence for the rape, murder of his sister-in-law. Despite the statute of limitations having expired for the last murder, he’ll never be released from prison.
Gary Ridgeway should have been apprehended much sooner for how prolific he was. The King County Sheriff's Office should be ashamed of how they handled his capture. It still makes me angry.
In school, we did Forensic Science, where we studied murder cases and how they played out. I had to write slides on the Golden State Killer, and I was surprised to find out he was a former cop Edit: (wtf is with these bots in the comment section?)
Gary Ridgway is the perfect example of cunning and "measurable intelligence" can be star systems apart from how a serial killer operates. It is all about victimology, and he knew his prey all too well.
It didn’t know until I moved back from Perth to Sydney, but the cafe I would frequent in near in Wellard was where one of the bodies of the Claremont killers bodies was dumped. I drank coffee not too far away, literally a two minute walk from the station
i remember the trial of the btk killer. in a letter to the press he asked the police can you retrace a floppy disc to a certain computer. they said no. in the trial dude legit asked why did you lie about being able to retrace me ? that was the saddest and funniest thing ever.
Why do most serial killers target and kill women only? Is it driven by lust or misogyny or both?? they are many times abused by their FATHERS in childhood, YET they target women, not men!!???
I wish they would solve the Jack the Ripper case but no forensic evidence was collected let alone survived! At this point forensic wise it will remain unsolved
I'm not gay, I am straight, but what about The Doodler, sometimes known as "LGBTQ Zodiac?" The Doodler was a serial killer who terrorized San Francisco's LGBTQ population around the same time as the Zodiac?
Well I mean the golden state killer is an old man now with like 10 or less years of life to live . If you ask me yeah he got away with it lived out his youth and fantasies without getting caught. Straight G
Ots stupid to say that it took 30 years to catch that one killer ciz he was black and his victims were black so that means the cops weren't trying.... The golden state killer situation ruins your argument.

The most recent one, The Gilgo Beach Killer. Finally arrested a few weeks ago for the murders of multiple women.
Sick bastard
Ohh never heard of that one!!! Thank you!
There is still more to that story. The lisk or Gilgo. Beach killer there are more victims
Ive heard of LISK. It's a fascinating case.
I’ve heard speculation that it’s more than 1 serial killer’s victims 😮
Rest in peace to those that passed away.
indeed rest in peace Bruce Lindahl
DeAngelo didn’t know police procedures for no reason; he was a former officer himself.
Wished they'd mentioned that.
Yes he was.
Yup

A friend of mine’s dad knew Jeffery Dahmer. He worked at the apartment complex Dahmer lived in
@@lesliemerideth567 that’s crazy. By Hollywood standards these days, we could have a movie made about our lives. Or at least a buddy sitcom!
This is fascinating. So glad that justice has been served for all these victims in all these cases.

Michelle McNamara was absolutely responsible for the capture of Golden State! She gets no credit here for her role?!?!?!
The police have stated that she had nothing to do with his arrest

@beautifulmidnight all she did was give him the name " golden state killer". Dummy

i believe it was a floppy disc!!!
He had no remorse 😩
Great work for the police and detectives that never give up rio to all the victims 🙏
Love how the killer mystery are solved and turned into 20/20 episodes
Love true crimes finally getting solved. 👏👏👏

In the 80s and 90s you could get a fake ID and wear a mustache and they would instantly lose track of you.

I'm surprised the Long island Serial Killer isn't on here....they finally made an arrest for that case.
Good to know.
It's not surprising that whenever victims try to report a murderer, they are ignored, laughed at, ostracized, or anything of the sort.
It didn’t know until I moved back from Perth to Sydney, but the cafe I would frequent in near in Wellard was where one of the bodies of the Claremont killers bodies was dumped. I drank coffee not too far away, literally a two minute walk from the station
I think Michelle McNamarra should’ve been mentioned with the „Golden State Killer“ case! She helped a lot! 🎉
The Port Talbot strangler actually had to be dug up to be convicted....
did forget James whitey Bulger?

That was my comment too. I don't understand it and it makes you scared to have a girl.
The question is: why does it happens only in the US?
Goddammn. GSK did get away with it! He's now very old.
That low note and giant picture of Joseph James DeAngelo is really creepy.
Interesting
I knew Rader would be on the list.
Why wasn’t Samuel Little on here? He’s the most prolific serial killer in American history?
That woman at the end is so cringe

It's been a major problem for a while . It's sad that they don't even do anything about it. The worst ones are the scam accounts.
Gary ridgeway didn't escape,he eluded.
I'm annoyed to see a cute puppy in the lap of a serial killer.
How about the zodiac killer? I think they have is dna from the stamps on those letters he send. Any thoughts please?
