The symbol of the Nazi regime should never be called a "swastika". The word is from the Sanskrit "su" meaning "good" and "asti" meaning "being" (so "swasti" basically means well-being"). The Nazis called their symbol a "Hakenkreutz" meaning "hooked-cross" in German.
bro...woh!! i am glad that you understand that....being a jain and explaining this same thing to my friends of western world sometime get me into ugly positions

I've had my non-Jain friends always asking that I'm killing organisms all the time, even while I'm writing this but here's the thing. Until and unless you don't kill something on purpose, it is fine but if you try saving them, that is religion to us. My grandpa designed our house in a way that we don't need to use artificial light till 7 pm, sunlight is enough. This is the kind of dedication we have for the religion and ahimsa.
How does Jainism interpret artificial light(electricity, fire?) as killing organisms and how does it interpret the sun as not? Microscopic organisms die from dry/hot surfaces and encouraging/designing sunlight everywhere can be construed as 'killing organisms', so if that's the case wouldn't artificial light save organisms too? By that same token, with our stomach microbiomes, changing diet significantly can be considered killing the bacteria, or even creating along side it? 8:54 In the video it said the monks/nuns can't cook so they go to other households, but isn't it likely they'll be going to less devout(relatively, by nature of their positions they've chosen) people who wouldn't inspect or be as strict with their preparations? Wouldn't making the food themselves save more organisms overall? (ie family makes B-grade food for 4 and monk makes A-grade food for 1 vs family making B-grade food for 5)
@@2bit8bytes well it is believed that sun is the only source of energy on this planet, so all organisms can bare it to some extent. Artificial electricity is not completely banished since regular jains use it, things get more strict when you opt to become a sadhvi or maharasaab (nun or monk) As far as cooking is concerned, many of them are on fasts for like weeks, and when they eat, it is usually fruits. Also they travel in groups, since to cook you need to burn which can cause killings, it is the duty of regular jains to provide food to such great people. Also many eat only ripened fruits with MINIMUM seeds and ensure they go back to soil so the cycle of life for the fruit keeps running. A lot more to tell but I hope it helps. We have different kinds of fast like Ekaasan, Byassan, Aimbil, Choviaahar Upvas, Neevi etc. They have abolished everything related to world and are on a trip to inner peace, you might not get food some day, but that is something that shouldn't bother you.
@match box yes my grandfather did talk about all of'em. I went to IB so I've always had a broader perspective. We celebrate Diwali, Guru Purab, Eid (my friends get veg chocolates for me from their iftaar) 🙂. We believe in multiple theories, however the path we chose is of Jinendra. Jai Jinendra! I come from Hong Kong, China. 🇭🇰🇨🇳 At first, I knew about Jainism on the Internet, then I was really touched by the principle of Ahimsa in Jainism. Jains are strict vegetarians, they even don’t eat root vegetables! Monks and nuns step forward to carry their peacock feather whisks to brush the insects and other tiny beings away. Jains’ compassion extend to ALL living beings in the world, even universe. Where can I find these great people in the world? Unfortunately, in the cultural background of my place raised in, I almost have no chance to encounter this great religion. Most of the people here even haven’t heard of the word ‘Jainism’. I wish I could stay in India for a certain period of time to deeply learn about this great religion one day. Or even becoming a Jain nun. I respectfully bow to all followers of Jainism in the world!!!
Rushi Integrity Thank you! But there are almost no formal Jain temples in Hong Kong due to my cultural background. The only one in Hong Kong is located in a small industrial flat. And what I mean is that I wish I could become a Jain nun on one day in my life. That day may come after several decades, certainly not in the near future, because I am still a teenager. But I will work hard to learn more about Jainism from now on.

Religion has nothing to do with that, it's just politics. The West was stronger and wealthier, simple as that. Because if religion had anything to do then the Christian (aka turn the other cheek) countries would have been doomed

As a passionate lover of phil. and religion for all my life, Jainism - more than absolutely Anything else sums up my whole life. And more importantly, Everything - Everything around me.
Very nice video. As a Proud jain I would like to add some more points here : 1. We are a peaceful religion and always try to keep calm . We try to avoid fight as much as possible . However we won't tolerate any injustice. 2.For those who are wondering our rules are very strict , pls try to understand that practically we common jains don't follow many rules. But the jain sadhus sant follow each and every rule. For example I eat my dinner at 8pm. 3. There are some bad people in our sect also .They are everywhere . Sadly Some jains also eat non veg food . 4. For those thinking that pure vegetarian food have very less taste and variety , I feel pitty for u all as you know nothing. Its just heavenly food . 5. We always try to help each other and everyone else. If we become obsessed with our religion we become more nice person lol 6.Although our Population is only near 60 lakhs in India but our contribution is immense. 7. Most of the big businessmen like Oswal Mehtas Etc are jains. 8. JETHALAL 😂is also a jain .😂😂 In (TMKOC )a popular Indian show.😌 9. We respect all religions especially Hinduism a lot , we love hindu mythology And also worship hindu gods. But we are not same religions. We share some common things . 10. Jainism is a way of life. We are proud of our religion , And Country India.🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳😊😊🙏🏻🙏🏻 Jai jinendra to everyone. If any doubts pls ask me. You can upvote if u like so that it can reach maximum people. 😊🙏🏻🇮🇳🇮🇳 jai hind
All of the Indian Religions have Same (Similar) ground rules , thats why Sanatana Dharma (loosely Hinduism) was said to be a 'Way Of Life' more than a 'religion'.

Things you missed about a Jain monk: •Jain monks don't cut their hairs or beard as its an outer service rather they unroot it by hands. • Jain monks eat and drink once a day. • Jain monks take a vidhi( a correct pattern of something which they already decide in their mind before going in search of food) and if this vidhi is not seen by them through their feeders they don't eat that day. (eventually this vidhi is very simple and common so that they can eat but not always). • Jain monks only have two possessions with them kamandal( in which they keep water for excretion) and pichi made of peacock feathers but only fallen off one(helps to remove microorganisms before sitting anywhere). • When they realise their end time is near they set themselves on complete fasting .

Kalana Herath You said it well and clear brother. By the way, I’ve watched another vdo about Jain and the story of a son of Siddhartha was said to be the enlightened one. Then the story about him was exactly the same as Siddhartha’s path to enlightenment. Is this religion more of an offshoot of Buddhism itself? If anything it’s the same to me.

Namaste Gee, The advent of Prophet Muhammad is mentioned more than once in the Hindu scriptures. Hindu scriptures are divided into three basic categories: Vedas, Upanishads and Puranas. There are differences about the age of those scriptures; some people believe that they go back almost 4,000 years. One of the amazing prophecies in these Hindu scriptures is the one on the tongue of Maharshi Vyasa, a Hindu saint, that states that the land of Arabs will be corrupted by the evil doers - maybe a reference to the pre-Islamic pagans; and that Mahamad - a slight adulteration of the name Muhammad - will come and guide those who went astray. He will be circumcised, bearded, eloquent; he will create a great revolution; he will announce the call for prayers; he will eat of the meat of lawful animals but not of the swine; and he will fight against irreligious nations. All these descriptions meet Prophet Muhammad (Vidyarthi). Bhavishya Purana, one of the most important Puranas, includes another prophecy that states that in a foreign country a spiritual teacher whose name is Muhammad will come; he will be a dweller of Arabia; he will gather a large force to fight or kill the devil; and God will protect him from his opponents. Prophet Muhammad Mentioned in the Upanishad Some Hindu scholars consider the Upanishads scripture to be superior to the Vedas, because they impart divine knowledge and teach how the human soul can get nearer to its Maker and Master. The Muslim testimony of faith is mentioned in the Upanishads. The most important prophecy in it is the one that mentions the coming of Prophet Muhammad by name, and the Muslim testimony of faith - there is no God but Allah - is repeated more than once in it. As a result of the clarity and explicitness of that prophecy, some Hindus actually enter into Islam, which has led some Hindu scholars to claim that perhaps this prophecy was written by a Hindu pundit who converted to Islam. But this is refuted because this prophecy was referred to in some of the ancient Hindu books that predate the advent of Islam or Muslims to India (Vidyarthi). In the Allo Upanishad, the following description of God is given: the name of the deity is Allah, He is one, the King of all the world, He is the Magnificent, the Greatest of all, the Best, the Most Perfect , the Holiest of all, the Nourisher of the whole world, the Manifester of the earth and the space, and the Lord of all creation. He created the sun, the moon, the stars, and the heavens. He is the Nourisher of all the birds, beasts, animals that live in the sea and those that are not visible to the eye. He is the remover of all evils and calamities, and Muhammad is the apostle of Allah. Prophet Muhammad Mentioned in the Vedas The third basic category of Hindu scriptures is called the Veda. In the Atharva Veda, it is mentioned that the praiseworthy among people shall be praised; it is known that the name Muhammad in Arabic actually means “the praiseworthy.” It also states that the promised prophet will be a camel rider, which is interesting because Indian prophets were forbidden to ride camels. Prophet Jesus, according to the New Testament, rode on an ass but not on a camel, but it is well known that Prophet Muhammad rode a camel. The seventh mantra also speaks about someone who is going to be a guide to all people, and Prophet Muhammad always emphasized that he was not sent to a particular people, like Israelites alone or Arabs alone, but to the whole world. The sixth mantra speaks about some of the brave people who vanquished without a battle and that the number of their opponents was 10,000, which could be a reference to the battle of the allies or the trench that took place during Prophet Muhammad’s time. The number of the people who put a siege around Madinah were indeed 10,000, and they were vanquished without a battle because God sent a hurricane that finally, after a long siege, forced them to leave. In the Rig Veda, it speaks about a person who is described as truthful and trustworthy, powerful and generous who will be famous with 10,000. All these are the characteristics of Prophet Muhammad, and the number 10,000 could be a possible reference to the number of the Companions of Prophet Muhammad who entered Makkah victoriously.

In the video it said the monks/nuns can't cook so they go to other households, but isn't it likely they'll be going to less devout(relatively, by nature of their positions they've chosen) people who wouldn't inspect or be as strict with their preparations? Wouldn't making the food themselves save more organisms overall? (ie family makes B-grade food for 4 and monk makes A-grade food for 1 vs family making B-grade food for 5)
@@2bit8bytes well it is believed that sun is the only source of energy on this planet, so all organisms can bare it to some extent. Artificial electricity is not completely banished since regular jains use it, things get more strict when you opt to become a sadhvi or maharasaab (nun or monk)
As far as cooking is concerned, many of them are on fasts for like weeks, and when they eat, it is usually fruits.

Rushi Integrity Actually I have bought two books about Jainism on Amazon. One is the Tattvartha Sutra, and another one is Jain Philosophy.
We have a very good Jain group on twitter to share knowledge about jainism. Let me know if you wish to be added. You will make good friends.
@@aatmanmehta6712 Oh thank you! I would like to join!
Hi @makathena5709
If u ever wish to come to India for a few days, weeks, months to experience the nun life or to visit certain temples/iconic pilgrim sites, let me know. I have ideas.

This was super interesting. I've been practicing Buddhism for years but never knew much about Jainism. Its mind-blowing how similar they are. Keep up your great work!
Buddhism isn't that interigated in the doctrine of non-consumption of meat, I am a Buddhist (sc) from India and in India saw our monks consuming chicken, then in my visit to Bodh Gaya I saw a community of Tibetan Buddhist and vietnamese Buddhist consuming meat. In 2015 I visited Japan and went to a Buddhist monastery in Kyoto, I saw them consuming beef.
Heaven is right here but we all have our own amount of karma preventing us from experiencing Heaven's wonders. Falun Dafa is the Way to remove all that karma.

As a passionate lover of phil. and religion for all my life, Jainism - more than absolutely Anything else sums up my whole life. And more importantly,
Everything - Everything around me.
Very nice video.
As a Proud jain I would like to add some more points here :
If we become obsessed with our religion we become more nice person lol
6.Although our Population is only near 60 lakhs in India but our contribution is immense.
7. Most of the big businessmen like Oswal Mehtas Etc are jains.
8. JETHALAL 😂is also a jain .😂😂

9. We respect all religions especially Hinduism a lot , we love hindu mythology And also worship hindu gods.

All of the Indian Religions have Same (Similar) ground rules , thats why Sanatana Dharma (loosely Hinduism) was said to be a 'Way Of Life' more than a 'religion'.
What is difference between religion and way of life? What make a religion a religion?
"The external mystery of the world is its intelligibility. True religion fastens to this element of intelligibility and creates a system of thought and action which leads to true harmony and bliss. And it is indeed so with Jainism."

How does religion fasten to intelligibility?

Things you missed about a Jain monk:
•Jain monks don't cut their hairs or beard as its an outer service rather they unroot it by hands.

Yea i have to agree with you. As i watched this and listen to the guy speak, i just can’t stop thinking that it so similar to Buddhist teachings. I don’t even think it’s any different from one another. Big difference is Buddha himself as a “symbolic relic” per say.

Namaste Gee,
The advent of Prophet Muhammad is mentioned more than once in the Hindu scriptures.
As a hindu i can confirm jains are the most peaceful, only jains follow ahimsa(non violence) truly, we hindus, buddhists, sikhs have forgotten our roots
