In todays video I share my review of the Adidas Supernova Rise, a all-new daily trainer that somewhat surprised me upon testing. This shoe was provided to me for review however as always my first impressions and likes/dislikes are very much my own opinion. To support the channel with making videos like these please consider purchasing your running shoes this year via the link above to Pro:Direct:Running- it really helps and I appreciate all that have done so.

Big adidas fan here. Love the Adizero SL for daily training right now though. Currently on my second pair after 450 miles on my last pair. Perfect when Paired in my rotation with the Boston 12 and adios 7 for faster days.

Hi Ben, Great review as always. Would you say it also works for half marathon distance? If not, which Shoe would recommend for easy 20k runs? Many thanks in advance! Enjoy

I have a sentimental attachment to Adidas - when I started serious running in the early 1970s they were the only brand widely available; Nike weren't around, Puma very difficult to get hold of, Reebok very small scale operation, Asics (Tiger) not really present in the UK. but their basic trainers have been very poor compared to other brands so I haven't bought Adidas for ages (I'm no longer interested in racing flats!). But I will definitely give this one a whirl, decent price, seems pretty durable and stack height is sensible.

Depends if I’m feeling like a max cushioned shoe or more of a nimble run. Both very good in my rotation currently

@@BenIsRunning thanks for coming back Ben - so the Novablast for more of a recovery shoe and this for more steady running? - looking it a recovery/ daily mileage shoe at the moment - had the Novablast 3 and loved it but saw this come up and had me thinking about this instead

Hey, what Adidas long sleeve is it, do you like it? For what outside temperatures does it work for you and do you wear anything underneath it? Thanks!

For 10 quid extra you can get the Boston 12, I think it's a poor price point from adidas, not sure really where this fits into their lineup.

Boston 12 have a carbon energy rods which isnt ideal for everyday running. Supernova Rise is for easy volume runs/recovery runs, Boston 12 is good for fast running - tempo runs, intervals, fartlek.

It is comfortable, it is not heavy (important), quality and looks are good (somewhat subjective) and suitable for average runners and walkers. Ignore the naysayers.

Really wish they’d gone with a lower drop and not stole cushioning from the forefoot. Also, doubt it would effect me as I mid foot strike, but that mad heel bevel is super odd.
It’s just standard EVA (I think), but the new 2024 Adistar is looking promising

Well, Ben, no offence, your memory doesn't go far back. Supernova was a decent running shoe (Supernova Glide series and Supernova Boost which would have been Glide 9) before Adidas ruined the shoe and delegated to cheap budget category. They were pretty competitive daily trainers right up there with Boston series. I ran my first Marathon in Supernova Boost in early 2018.
I still have the Supernova boost shoe and even went to the Supernova Rise demo in them. I was actually disappointed with Rise. My pair of Supernova from 2018 felt nimbler. If Dreamstrike+ is really PEBA, there is probably too little PEBA in that foam or the gray EVA rods under the shoe has nerfed the response. It doesn't feel like other PEBA based shoes I have. Dreamstrike+ turned out to be a bad dream. At that weight, I feel more response from Nimbus 25/26.
Adidas still doesn't have a good, modern daily trainer. Such a big company with such great racers but disappointing daily trainers. Saucony ASICS and PUMA are killing them in performance daily trainers. However, I am probably going to buy them for causal wear when they are aptly discounted. That colorway is cool.

If you run solo and on paved path or track these shoes as awesome. If you run outside with people, parkrun crowds in general and do that hitting and dragging the fit to overtake or warn someone of your presence these shoes outsole last 1 race only 140£ disposable shoes. a park run after for me it looked like I did 600 miles. Running on rainy day, muddy leafy? You gotta slowdown because the only grip you have is your weight deforming the shoe to fit the grains on the floor if you don't aqua mud plane into the puddle 1st. Maybe it's my running style maybe I drag my feet to much to communicate my presence and rip all my soles easily, something I have to watch out in me, maybe buy a whistle or shout "on your left" or touch the person. Idk. Didn't like the shoes much.

Why do you run on the left of the road where there is no pavement, because the rules of the Highway Code say that you should use the right of the road facing oncoming traffic? The Highway Code is not just for motorists as it has rules for cyclists, pedestrians and horse riders as well. I assume that when you drive a motor vehicle, you drive on the correct side of the road.

    • @BenIsRunning

I usually run towards the traffic yes however on some of the country lanes there are hidden corners so it often makes sense to run on the left to avoid cars coming round the corner and hitting you head on. Appreciate your concern :)

Assuming he is running 15kph on a road with 40kph speed limit: Speed relative to car increases from 25 to 55kph when facing traffic - giving cars way less time to react. This rule maybe makes sense when walking as the difference is negligable. You wouldnt cycle facing oncoming traffic, would you?
