    That is a nice bumper. Love how it does not bulge out like a lot of them do. Very clean and sleek!

      Thanks! If you want good approach angles you need to keep everything tight, or you will get hung up on the bulky stuff.

      Probably there are better ones out there, but this one is build tough, sleek and in style. Thanks for the kind words.

    Nice vid, I gust got a WJ, what gauges of steel were you using for the various parts? Thanks!

    Where does it mount to, the sides of the hitch receiver?

    Nice bumper, wonder where you got your snorkel kit from as I’m struggling to find one for my WJ CRD?

      Thanks! The Snorkel is DIY fit of a hilux kit. There aren't any out there for the crd. I found some for about 600$ online, but they were out of stock anyway. I'm probably gonna fabricate a snorkel from stainless steel for another crd project.

    Good Job, have a question, how many millimeters is the thickness of the steel ?

    • @PoolsideSeries
      @PoolsideSeries  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks! The thickness varies from 3 to 5 mm. The structural part where the recovery points are located are is made of 5mm steel. The sides and the top is 3mm.

    Do you have front bumper video maybe?

    • @PoolsideSeries
      @PoolsideSeries  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey! No, I don't have a video on a front bumper. I'll make one if I'm gonna do another one.

    I like the design but it's just a shell and if subjected to a substantial impact it may buckle as there is no triangulation to resist buckling. Thick material may resist this to some extent but won't keep the unsupported sides from pushing in or the rear horizonal from pushing in. It looks good but it needs to be boxed in to survive major abuse.

      If it doesn't crumple the shock is sent into the frame and somewhere else will bend.

      At this point this bumper has seen about 18 months of really though wheeling and is not showing any signs of fatigue. You have a fair point about the unsupported sides, but there is one thing that isn't visible in the time lapse: the sides are bolted on to the body. Also the structural part where the recovery points are located is 5mm thick. After fabricating a fair amount of this bumpers I've figured out a pretty good balance between thoughness and weight. A good lesson learned is to keep it sleek for good approach angles. Something I would add is that this is purpose build for the kind of terrain, which we encounter in latvia (basically only mud) . You would need something different lets say for rock crawling, where protection is of more importance, if you want to prevent panel damage. Cheers for your comment mate!

      Yeah, I didn't bother too much finding some free music without copyright. I'm glad you like the bumper though
