Hi Brad ..do you ever see Strauss valve amps ?? Any opinion ..I'm.thinking of buying one ..maybe ...
There are two eras.
The super old ones: built in Australia, often hacked up by multiple people and require significant rebuilding.
The new ones: built in China to a ridiculously low standard, to the point where every connection requires retermination and resoldering, and that's not even taking into account the terrible component quality. Avoid.
I remember hiring Strauss amps and PA's back in the 70's from Nova Sound in Moorabbin. By that stage, most of their hire amps were solid state amps that sounded pretty awful, but they did have a competitor in Cheltenham called Black Power that was far worse - their stuff used to routinely burst into flames - fun times!
