- I bought this loom because I wanted a loom that was more simple than my fancy 16 shaft AVL, which I love. My AVL's are just a little much for what I have planned for this loom! I had regrets shortly after bringing it home, but it's in pretty good shape now. See how I transformed this loom into something usable.

That's unusual! I have a Dorothy on a treadle stand, but it's only 4h.
I learned to weave on a Dorothy! Good solid little looms! They do make 8 shaft Dorothy looms as well!
I was given a Medico loom by a new neighbor who hadn't used it for 30 years... and she got it used! It needs cleaning and refurbishing and I found your video to be very helpful. Would be interested in exactly what the cord is that you used to replace the old stuff to lift the heddles. I'm brand new to weaving with this type of loom. In the past I've used a rigid heddle loom. Thanks for sharing your knowledge!
It’s teksolv loom cord. The sell it at the Woolery, but is available at other places as well

Rebecca, I need some of the little "pulley" type wheels that you show at the top of the castle. Don't see them on the CVF website. Do you know exactly what they're called? I'm getting at this project little by little. Hope I live long enough! LOL

I didn’t end up using it and sold it, as I decided that it was just too small for my needs. It seems like a solid loom though. I did like it.

I just acquired a Medico loom with the foot treadles and am trying to sort out a problem of the harnesses not falling all the way down when switching between one pair of levers and the other or foot treadles (i.e. from harnesses 1&3 to 2&4). Do you think it makes any difference if the cords that go over the pulleys sit in front or behind the harnesses? On mine, two cords sit in front and two sit behind the harness. I have been advised to remove the harnesses and see if they are warped. But since you had the same loom, curious of your thoughts. Thanks!
Does it feel like they are getting stuck on the way down? It’s been a while since I had that loom. First thing I would do would be to make the cords on the same side, clean it really well and lube up the shaft grooves. They are pretty simple looms so it shouldn’t take long to figure out the problem.
@@Rebecca.Robbins Great tips! Yes, they are getting stuck midway on way down. What do you use to lubricate? And do you put it on the metal or the wood? Thanks!
I usually use a silicone lubricant.
