Don't forget the most important element of SEAD : the point is not necessarily to destroy the radar (although that is obviously desireable) but to force it to choose between staying on and making himself a target or to shut down and let the package go through to target. Now that some DCS radars (and indeed most of them through Skynet) do this, it shouldnt be a surprise to not achieve hits all the time and see that sweet sweet scoreboard fill up.

Keeping the SAMs busy is a great way to let a package get through. I'll be making a video on TALDs and SAM tactics in the future and talk about this.

Any chance of a A2A video with the Hornet . . the radar is giving me trouble, locking on targets, etc . . thanks for any help.

I am working my way through the Air to Ground weapons, but will be working on an Air-to-air series after I'm done. I have the AGM-154 JSOW and Cluster bombs / Rockets left before I will move onto Air-to-air weapons. Stay tuned 😁

these have been dogshit in ukraine

Unfortunately so, yes. This is now an outdated system which is very easily shot down by modern SAM systems

@@echovictordcsworld well they got 40 years out of them. but I don't think they have a chance in hell versus a buk-m1, not even the agm88e version. I think new BUKs have impressed western intelligence about more than any gear seen in the entire war. that & the kh47. need something higher velocity at this point.

@@posmoo9790 yeah, higher velocity or change the way you attack them. With active radar jamming tech and heavy saturation with TALDs etc, a HARM could potentially still get through. But with the logistics in place on the russian side mean they just replace any radars that get destroyed

@@posmoo9790 The issue is that in Ukraine when attached to a MIG-29, the AGM-88 does *NOT* have all these features, they're operating in a degraded mode where they're programmed on the ground. Their general target location is programmed in and the missile is launched where it searches for targets. If a threat is encountered outside this area the MIG is unable to utilize the HARM to defend itself or attack targets

@@demanischafferthe front line is static. some contact lines have barely moved in 2 years. the situation you described in nonexistent. Ukr are engaging the first echelon of air defense - there can never a new threat between them and their target because that is where the front line it and it couldn't survive. they already know where the AD targets are they have perfect ISR and they still cannot successfully target it. It is essentially the ideal situation and it still can't work. It's over bro. They just got six f-16s. the first thing they should do is send the three operable ones to fire 12 harms at a BUK. But the problem is they'll be destroyed and some of the f-16s won't come back. What is your peoples excuse now that they have f-16s anyway. you were the same people that always sudden said the amazing american wonder weapons would win the war.
