Goody - I use cPanel rather than Plesk and use cPanel's auto SSL feature, so needed to add 2 records to the DNS. To allow my staging sites to be live and secure (https), I added "staging" and "www.staging" as CNAMEs to the DNS records. Allowed cPanel's Auto SSL to recognize control of domain and install SSL. Then opened the staging site to begin redesigns.
But what happens if you have, say, a WooCommerce website and orders have been placed since you created the sub-site? If you copy everything back you might over-write orders, or comments on blogs or products, or even overwrite new products. Now that WordPress is storing everything in the database updating from a staging site has become a lot more difficult.
The SSL part was driving me insane until I found your tutorial - you're the only one mentioning updating the DNS so thank you!

Excellent step by step of the process - easy to follow, good pace.
Very helpful tutorial. Thank you!
Of course!
Please make more videos like this! Awesome!!!
You may need to add the SSL certificate individually for the staging site.
