I loved it when you were in Cannonball Run II, & anytime you were on TV when we were coming up. I've always thought you were SO classy, & absolutely gorgeous. I watch your "In My Life" music video quite often now & think about all the beautiful light that you've brought into this world with your voice. You are truly amazing, & a timeless treasure. Oooh...lovin' this. In My Life is one of my all time fave songs and this is a great version. I saw Susan Anton at the Palm Springs Follies recently and did not know what to expect. She blew me away!
All right . Here's the scoop. I am in love with this song for many personal reasons and listened to a lot of covers. So many covers miss either the crucial bass changes or vocal harmonies that make this song great. This one captures it all.
Susan's rich, sultry voice is one I have missed. She has been performing all her life with very few recordings, which we can only hope changes soon. Her last cd, One Night is a gem, showcasing her inimitable ease with torch and bluesy ballads.
Also, some of the guitar chords are beautifully "jazzed up" slightly, and this woman, Suzan(?) has a sultry voice which changes the feel of the original, but she's still feeling the original, definitely! Incredibly done! This is a great cover!
In 1991, she sang Proud to be an American at an event to honor the military that was fighting--and winning--Desert Storm. I was so taken with her voice. I was also taken with the song which went on to become the unofficial national anthem.
I just looked up Susan, I remembered her from the "Serta commercials" years ago.... What a BEAUTIFUL voice...she reminds me of Anne Murray (same type of timbre, but hers is abit different)...but sultry and sexy.

But one thing about her that I'm curious about: What if she pursued the same route as say, Pat Benatar or Heart instead of going the Old Standards route? Would she have been even more popular? She is a very nice lady.

Susan was always appearing on the talk show circuit singing and had some guest parts in acting. Her singing style was old school and her music was as well. Not a big pop appeal.
