For all you young people, you have to Remember that this was a Time of Folk Music with just a guitar or backed up with a symphony. A great time, I wish I could go back and live there, Forever, it Was That Good......
At 71 I have lost many an old friend and family member. Amazing that John Lennon wrote this at a still young age. He was very insightful. Of course he lost his mother at sixteen and I'm sure that played into his writing of this masterpiece. Judy gave a wonderful interpretation of the song.
At around four decades in, I still only have about six grey hairs. Trust me, this song still has plenty of meaning. But yeah, it's definitely one that gets more poignant with age.
Only a very few Chosen Few, can sing or play music that makes Their Soul shine through. This lady is one of them. I am an old man and just heard of her in this one playback.
I am sure that if people's heads were filled with beauty like this, instead of the garbage they are crammed full of today, the world would be a far, far better place.
When I die (I'm 65, looking ahead) I told my daughter to play 2 songs and think of me. This version by Judy and Somewhere Over the Rainbow by Israel Kamakawiwo'ole. Stevie Knicks Landslide is also special as I used to sign it to here when she was a baby.
In 1969 and 1970, when I was at the University of Texas, I used to go between classes to the library, where they had two or three July Collins albums that you could listen to on headphones. No matter how many times I listened to her, I was always amazed at the quality of her voice and the emotions that she conveyed in each song. This was one of them.

listerone. Yes. Stephen Stills wrote that great song, Suite Judy Blue Eyes about her when they had a relationship. But the relationship didn't work out. Apparently he sang and played it to her in a hotel room after he had just written it. But at that point the relationship couldn't be resolved. I didn't read about that until recent in years . It makes that song even more touching. And anytime I hear Judy herself I feel touched and moved.

In nearly every other case, no one can do a Beatles song except the Beatles but this is a big exception. Judy brings out the gentle musing quality implicit in the lyrics

This song reminds me of memories of a life I've never lived.. There is no song closer to my heart. I listen to this beauty, I see my memories of a life I've never lived flash before my eyes. The Wonder Years.
One of the most beautiful songs The Beatles, in this case John Lennon, ever made. I have asked for it to be played at my funeral, if my wife survives me, as now 75.
I always thought Lennon never got the proper respect for this tune compared to McCartneys' "Yesterday" . This well written song tugs at the heart just as much.

There are places I'll remember
All my life, though some have changed
Some forever, not for better
Some have gone, and some remain
All these places had their moments
With lovers and friends, I still can recall
Some are dead, and some are living
In my life, I've loved them all
But of all these friends and lovers
There is no one compares with you
And these memories lose their meaning
When I think of love as something new
Though I know I'll never lose affection
For people and things that went before
I know I'll often stop and think about them
In my life, I'll love you more
Though I know I'll never lose affection
For people and things that went before
I know I'll often stop and think about them
In my life I'll love you more
In my life I'll love you more

One of the loveliest voices ever. So many lady folkies of the 60's had such sweet voices.
Came up with Judy as a High School Kid in the 60’s. She was a Soother to the turbulence around us then.

Changing the lyrics and melody
It is a beautiful, timeless song.

Not a sensible comment. The words are unchanged and the melody is slightly adapted to suit the voice (as a melody always should be).
