I recorded this off of the History Channel. It's a quick little video about Minnesota. Check out the part about the skyway system. I worked up there. Also some good footage of Mall of America.
I've lived in Minnesota my entire life, my favorite part is going up to Northern Minnesota (I live in the cities) and seeing all the wild life/ nature :) It's amazing in Duluth!
Nice! I lived in MN for a while and I went to many sporting events at The University of Minnesota. It's a lovely area with really nice people and lots of things to do in the cities.
I love winter. Especially snow. I don't really like temperatures to get anywhere over 85ish. I would hate living in Florida or somewhere hot where the summers are unbearable
I really enjoyed watching this special, too bad I didn't get the whole thing, but I look forward to buy the DVD, or hopefully watch some of it here on youtube. It made every single state look interesting and kinda makes you feel like getting on a bike and cruise the USA, every place has its beauty, and Minnesota is certainly no exception.
As a Minneapolis woman I would love to hear and learn about Minneapolis history and evolution especially before when it was populated with Dakota Sioux and few Ojibwe but I know Ojibwe is more northern Minnesota but I think some other natives had resided in Minneapolis especially since Minneapolis has lots of lakes and the Mississippi and minnehaha Creek I would also like to delve into the history of bohemian flats ..
At 6:38, I think that conductor with the dreads is Bobby McFerren. He's been creative chair of the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra since 1994. And YES, he is the same guy who wrote and recorded "Don't Worry, Be Happy."
Watching this really made me miss my home state. Especially when they mentioned Edina and showed South Dale Mall because that was seriously down the street from my neighborhood. Geez, why can't Arizona be as beautiful as Minnesota.
It actually has over 11 thousand lakes. I am a native New Yorker who loves the winter and loves the outdoors, I don’t get much of that in New York which is why Minnesota is so interesting to me to visit.
it gets cold in this state, i remember a couple years i just walked outside with a glass of water, threw it in the air and it just froze and fell as snow
one winter, i dropped my coffee on the sidewalk. a wonam stopped, took my cup, scooped up half of my coffee, and gave it back to me Its an awkward type of Minnesota Nice.
@Mistahbonbon111 LOL back 1990 or 1991, I remember it getting so cold you could spit and it would freeze before it hit the ground. That particular day, it got to 70 below 0 with the windchill included.
My husband visited MN for the first time during the winter. And it was a mild winter like 20 degrees and he was freezing. I said 'baby this is warm" and he looked at me like I was cuckoo. LOL.
This show only focuses on depressing winter! What about hockey, snowmobiling, fishing, amazing summer time by the lake? There is diffinately something charming in Minnesota, nowhere else has! :) I love Minnesota.
Not too long ago, it was -40 degrees in Duluth! I actually live in Rochester which is southeast of Minnesota and it gets pretty cold here but at least as how long I've been living here, its never been -40 in Rochester!
This state seems pretty cool. The only time i've been through MInnesota was on a connected flight to DC. If anyone can find the one from my state Oregon please upload it. hehe
I lived in St Paul, MN for a bit over a year. I must admit, that 22 degrees up there isn't the same as 22 degrees here on the east coast. I think it's because of the wind. It's not all that blustery in MN, but we get some wicked winds here in NJ. Having 22 degrees of coldness whiping into your face is horrible, but a nice, still, calm 22 degrees can be very pleasant, believe it or not. Though, once it gets below zero (rare in NJ), then all the rules go out the window.
@tom3098 you're right. what about the fur trade? the sawmills and logging? the indian treaties? the iron range? jonathan carver? the history of mankato? this video makes it seem like minnesota is only famous for the twin cities and it's cold weather.
Greetings from Rochester, MN-you need to visit Minnesota stat! It's cold, but it gives us Scandinavians something new to complain about. Anyways, by the time mid-February rolls around people are out in their shorts and flip-flops. This is Norwegian optimism.
YOU SHOULDNT COME UNLESS YOURE PREPARED TO STAY, I agree, I love living in Northern Minnesota, I may not even reenlist for another tour in the Navy. I love it but I miss being home in the greatest state.
Nah, today most of our wealth comes from business and services today, with quite a bit of agriculture. Natural resources are usually preserved these days.
A wild Filing cabinet That's what I have learned from a Mr. Beat video comparing MN with WI And also can I just say I love Minnesota for its kind people, lovely cuisine, beautiful scenery and healthy recreational activities and I actually plan to move there from Connecticut :)
For some reason I like watching stuff about my home state, Minnesota. I do like it here, but at the same time, there's nothing really to do. Most people I have met are jerks, but I feel like it's because I live on the border of Minnesota and North Dakota and most people I have met from North Dakota are mean.
I've lived in the Minneapolis area my entire life and it sucks. The weather is horrible and the people are even worse. Everyone is into their own little group of people and if you aren't like them they won't even look at you, let alone talk to you.
I used to live by The Cities, but then my family moved back in 2005 and now I live right on the border of ND. And I feel like there are "cliques" everywhere though. A lot of people at my old school were nice, then at my second school after we moved most people were civil to everyone else, and now at my new school everyone is nice- from what I can tell. But everyone has their own opinion. I personally like it here, but some people don't and I can respect that.
+Kohlgraf telling by your profile picture, your a jerk. Even if you were nice, i wouldnt aproach and try to be friend because your modifications are that terrible...cut the crap
As much as I love Minnesota I also hate it at times. The weather is so bipolar one day it's sunny and warm next thing you know it's snowing, it's raining one day next it will be hot out next stormy ect also there is like nothing to do here. Well there are a lot of things you could do here. There is snow on the ground for like more then half the year but I love Minnesota cause I was born and raised here. Even though our sports teams suck besides the Lynx!!!
Born and raised in Minnesota. Absolutely hate it here. Mosquito summers, -60 in winter and spring is just mud everywhere if you live in the sticks like I do. As soon as I can move, I'm out of here
Sorry Bloomington, but you are actually the 5th biggest city in the state. Duluth beats you bu 1,000 people. And Rochester beats you by 25,000 people. Rochester: 110,000 Duluth: 86,000 Bloomington: 85,000
I'd love to visit Minnesota one day. Greetings from Argentina.
Hope this pandemic end up soon, wish you the best.
I've lived in Minnesota my entire life, my favorite part is going up to Northern Minnesota (I live in the cities) and seeing all the wild life/ nature :) It's amazing in Duluth!
I miss my home state!

Nice! I lived in MN for a while and I went to many sporting events at The University of Minnesota. It's a lovely area with really nice people and lots of things to do in the cities.
Greetings from Golden Valley Minnesota!!
Reminds me of my country, Norway. :)
That's not surprising, since a lot of people here are of Norwegian descent. Their grandparents or great-grandparents came over from Norway.

Yea, it closed years ago.
Minnesota represent! Why didn't they mention mayo clinc, the best hospital in the world? #MinnesotaPride
Mayo Clinic: As long as you pay the bill upfront or the hell with you.
they didnt mention how Minnesota has more shoreline then California and i think Hawaii combined coast line
Well, they couldn’t mention everything, could they?
Lol, winter and the technical marvel of the metro-dome
This segment didn't age well.
I'm gonna watch this video anytime I need a nap.
Walk quietly and carry a big snow shovel...
You bet by golly.
Best health care, great schools.

Hello from Lower Manhattan, NYC. I am going to go to Minnesota soon after seeing this video since I go for road trips all the time
R.I.P. Metrodome
I love winter. Especially snow. I don't really like temperatures to get anywhere over 85ish. I would hate living in Florida or somewhere hot where the summers are unbearable
As a Minnesotan, I think our summers are unbearable enough 😅
Thanks for posting.

Can you please post more of The States video from history channel. I would love to see more for every state.
Minnesota can get very cold in winter. But our weather in summer is great
#1 place to live in America was Plymouth, MN!! My home town
the cold up here is definitely brutal, but it’s nothing compared to winnipeg in the winter. That’s a nightmare
I am one of those who shouldn't have came because now I do not want to go, I love Minnesota
It because your car don't start😁

i visit my dad every year in Minnesota and i find the state just absolutely freezing, i just wish they had more warmer days
I live in Texas, and I listen to Mr. Keillor's show.

Are there any other states besides Minnesota on You Tube?
@tom3098 you're right. what about the fur trade? the sawmills and logging? the indian treaties? the iron range? jonathan carver? the history of mankato? this video makes it seem like minnesota is only famous for the twin cities and it's cold weather.
Actually there are Saunas, most of which sprouted from Finnish communities that came to the iron ranges in norther Minnesota.
Greetings from Rochester, MN-you need to visit Minnesota stat!
It's cold, but it gives us Scandinavians something new to complain about. Anyways, by the time mid-February rolls around people are out in their shorts and flip-flops. This is Norwegian optimism.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY MINNESOTA!
Minnesota rocks! best state hands down!
YOU SHOULDNT COME UNLESS YOURE PREPARED TO STAY, I agree, I love living in Northern Minnesota, I may not even reenlist for another tour in the Navy. I love it but I miss being home in the greatest state.
The Dakota translation is actualy "water so clear it reflects the sky"
That's why the Hamm's beer commerical had that in the song
Nah, today most of our wealth comes from business and services today, with quite a bit of agriculture. Natural resources are usually preserved these days.
A wild Filing cabinet That's what I have learned from a Mr. Beat video comparing MN with WI

i have never heard of the garrison guy
Edina .. referring to Southdale mall
Minnesota is amazing:)=Regards from bloomington-:)

wow I can't believe he just said that
they even have a chruch

every time he says modest we drink
i really enjoy minnesota... but its freezing over there, i just wish they had more warmer days.

Its just as bipolar as Missouri it sounds like.
I would like to see it , holland is almost the same the weather is sometimes so weird
Well there was one day this past spring where it was 80 degrees here where I live, and the next day it was 20 degrees and snowing.
Don't forget about the Wild! They had one heck of a season last year.
Minnesota is the best state! I love it!!
I love where I live, Can't wait to go to the U of M next year :)
damn i wish i could feel that type of weather all the time. im from Tennessee so i dont see that too much
The changing seasons are a nice shake-up, but we go from one extreme to the other. Our mild spring and fall are too short, in my opinion.
I miss home
Never knew that I lived in Water that reflects the sky
I've recently been to Minneapolis great city.
Are we the only place with skyways? I thought all northern states would have
how many minnesotans are ready for winter
The world record was -64 degrees and that was here in tower Minnesota
cold dead winter, hot humid summers, but the road construction kills everyone
Born and raised in Minnesota. Absolutely hate it here. Mosquito summers, -60 in winter and spring is just mud everywhere if you live in the sticks like I do. As soon as I can move, I'm out of here
Its a testament to our greatness that even despite all that stuff we're still the greatest most modest state in the union
Sorry Bloomington, but you are actually the 5th biggest city in the state. Duluth beats you bu 1,000 people. And Rochester beats you by 25,000 people.
Rochester: 110,000
Duluth: 86,000
Bloomington: 85,000
not accounting for the thousands of people in MoA? yes.
Skunkdog Gro Bloomington has less people living there wlbut wayyy more tourists and commuters
Duluth wins for cold...and that big lake is a snow making moster
jeremy lalonde didn't know it was contests
jeremy lalonde the city's can hit 35to -50 below and temps can get 35 to 40 below for days.the whole state is cold who gives a shit who is coldest.
Are there any other states on you tube? Not to diss Minnesota or anything...
@jrocks4520 we are the record was set some time in the 1930s of like -60 or somthing like that
