I really think Ukraine should have been more careful to protect this beautiful plane from the Russians, once trouble started. It was a terrible loss so early on.
I saw a video from shortly after the AN225 was bombed. It was listing to one side and one wingtip came to rest on top of a Cessna-152 that was in the hangar at the same time. It was like the little plane was saying "I got you, big sister." So poignant!
I find it amazing to watch. Every visual instinct I have tells me that monster will never get off the ground. Then as it flies I expect it to just drop straight down from the immense size. It looks like it's floating in mid air. Breathtaking
