I would play with your vintage set all the time only changing out the driver.

Mr. Vintage- For me the vintage set is the most interesting of the ones you presented; lots of character to these! If I may ask, how do your vintage scores compare with the modern club scores? Please keep up the fun videos. Bob

I believe you are correct about the year on your Wilson wedge. I have the same set which I call my Sputnik irons because of the round weight. They were preceded by the Wilson bullet-backs. I have the Wilson ‘62 turf riders with an old set of Wilson laminated woods for my vintage set. Of course I have an old bullseye as my putter.

Nice set ups, all three bags look like fun stuff. The Adams irons....a reminder of so many brands who were gobbled up/went bankrupt/etc...nowdays the smaller internet direct to the consumer thing is nice but I can't just go pull one off the rack and make an in person decision. Oh yeah, clubs are being financed these days, lol! $$$$.

Thanks for sharing these range of golf sets that you have. Your vintage set is great. I just have a vintage set of irons that I like which are the Ben Hogan 99 Apex blades. I also have a loaner set of clubs which are mizunos: ST driver, GT 3-wood, titleist 913H, mx-25 irons, titleist wedges, and TP Mills putter. I normally play a Sim Driver, Titleist TS2 3 wood, Callaway Apex hybrid, Mizuno MP-H5 irons, Titleist wedges, and a Mizuno putter

Love, love, love your vintage set. Well done sir. I have for the last 5 years or so started collecting vintage "gamers" because I'd rather play them than look at them you know. Thanks for the share.

I'm an old coot....so my "modern" set & "vintage set" would be the same...
Outside of that, my chosen clubs are between '91 Hogan Magnum Plus, Browning 440, Ray Cook Afluent, and a Ping Eye 2,...(woods - Hogan Big Ben C-S3 & a C455 5 wood ) & my H&B Grand Slam Mars 70 putter. Oh, I still have the wedges that came with the Magnum Plus' - Hickory Stick (pre-Calloway) 1 & 2 (PW & SW) & a Hickory Stick (Calloway) 3 (LW)
A loaner would be an '88 Hogan Edge Forged or H&B PowerBilt TPS blackened either w/a set of Big Apple Golf woods & would offer either a Ping Zero4 or a Ray Cook mallet or Ping clone...neither set has a SW or LW, so at least a Hogan Sure Out and perhaps a 60* Trusty Rusty
I would always have a couple of persimmon, either Hogan's or H&B's

Love your vintage bag, the M85TW woods are beautiful, I'd love a set of those.
And those Trumatics look lovely too.
Putter head cover? Why would I want to use one of those? As long as I don't throw my bag around the putter isn't going to get damaged so I like to be able to see it..
I don't have a fixed bag and usually change clubs every week or so.

Back in the day there was no such thing as a putter cover. It was kept safe by the head covers of the woods.

I have an old Burke set of blades that I lengthen this week. They are already a bit upright. Played them yesterday. Very nice after I got used to it. My vintage woods are Powerbilt citation. I should add the Tony Penna wedge.
I normally play an M2, Taylormade P790 UDI 2 iron, TM RAC TP MB because they are beautiful.

Great to see that 2 iron in the vintage set. I golf a set of powerbilt woods. The 5 wood is just excellent. The irons are wilson fg 51 because Payne Stewart golfed them. So not as vintage as your wonderful clubs. Great vid.

I have a full set of ping eye2 plus irons and wedges my question is what driver to do recommend to complete my set ?

Oh wow, there are a lot. Early in the 1990's the Big Bertha driver was popular. If you are looking for something more... wooden, maybe try a Woods Bros driver. It really comes down to what you like. The joy of playing vintage irons is there is modern stuff too! I wouldn't fault you for rocking a modern 460cc Driver. The Ping Eye 2+ irons are amazing! Best of luck!

Do you ever hit the 2 or 3 irons, or instantly grab the 5 wood?

    • @MrJohnr47
      @MrJohnr47 ปีที่แล้ว

I usually instantly duck after I hit my 2 or 3 iron!
