Seed to Bonsai: Japanese white pine (Pinus Pentaphylla) #1

This is my first try to grow a Japanese white pine from seed.

You don’t need holes if you check for moisture or mold regularly.

I've never heard of Pinus Pentaphylia, I always thought Japanese white pine was Pinus Parvifolia.

If I remember correctly, Pinus pentaphylla is a variety of Pinus parviflora. I think biologists would name it Pinus parviflora var. pentaphylla.

From the size of the seeds I am sure they are not white pine, usually white pine seeds are bigger, these seeds are black pine or red pine, mikawa matsu

Thank you for the comment! Hopefully I bought you the right seeds and this is just a bad batch. Not many have sprouted either. I will see what they are exactly as the trees continue to grow.

No, I am based in Germany. But I'm sure you can buy plenty of various seeds in the UK.
