@@patrik5916 he didnt run into him he was running next to him but his elbow hit the opponent which should be a foul because he should be more careful but a red is definitely too much
Great game, the team really benefits from your attacking play on the right. That red card was not deserved, I think that's either a foul where the ref cautions you and no card, or at worst a light yellow. But no where near red, that linesman really had it out for you.
That's a crazy straight red - I agree, it's between a foul and a yellow. I watched multiple times and it didn't seem to get anywhere near his face. I would have been curious to hear what the announcers said. Anyway, great game Matt. Edit: I watched the highlights and the announcers strongly disagreed with the red card.
I thought when I saw the title of the video that you would of lost your head. But that isn’t even a foul. It’s so soft from an English point of view. Can you appeal it so your not suspended?
@@BecomeElite I watched that game on ESPN+. I am surprised that the appeal did not win as your motion was natural running and the opponent sort of ran into you. Your eyes were tracking the ball as well.

I've been watching your analysis for a while now and I can honestly say this is definitely one of your best games. You had such an impact on the game, scoring chances created, etc. Don't get hung up on the card and keep your aggressive attack up dude, you looked great out there!
I think this is the best I've seen you play. Love how much trust your teammates have in you and constantly feeding you the ball in space. The other team failed to adjust to your positioning and you took advantage of that great to see
Amazing game, Matt! All that expirience is coming into play now, looks like you are about to hit your peak performance ever. Stay healthy and keep working like in this game, God bless we see you in MLS in few years!
@@we_breathe_football370 well firstly - that's exactly what I mean that he is NOT getting older he is reaching his peak and we can see this example on the highest lvl that players are best around their 30th and can be on top all the way till 37+, same thing goes for MMA and Boxing, champs are primarily 30+ y.o., so all this nonsense that you are old after 28 is BS! I'm 18, I play rather low in polish system (8th league, I hope for matches in 6th and then to go to semi-pro team). I'm so happy that youtube started recommending me more football learning content, I've always trained alone, during summer holidays I usually spend around 4-4,5 hours on pitch per day +little strength training. Those analysis are so great, I'd love to do them myself, but never had a chance :( btw Do u have any video about mental strentgh and good attitude? I think that's the biggest thing holding me back, when I train alone or with my team I can do great stuff (tragical as well, but it's easier to just chill after it during training), but in the match it's more chaotic and difficult and I found it too stressful to do the right thing (get the ball and play with it) It's so painful for me, because my coaches told me that I am better than them (at the same age) when they made their debut in 5th or 4th league for example, I really need to do something with it, if I want to be a pro.
You played an amazing game in this match. The red card was totally unlucky but the rest of your play was brilliant. I was expecting a malicious football tackle from behind to get you sent off but that was just ridiculous in my opinion since it was accidental. Anyways a lot to learn from your performance and keep doing what you are doing it’s fantastic!
Great analisys! 16:24 it looks like the best option was to play to the left side which was completely free. But a really good game from your side - very intelligent play. Red card was ridiculous.. congrats for winning the game 😊
amazing game matt. just like the commentator said, i think you were man of the match, at least in my opinion. keep your head up because you played well, and a red card shouldn't take away from that fact!
Great Game Bro!! I watched the colorado game on espn when you were out because of the bogus red card. Its a whole different team without you. Keep it up! I had that ref in a college match, and he told me if it was a professional match, he would have sent me off for one of my challenges. But since it was a college match, he only gave me a yellow 🤣
Hard to tell if you hit him in the face with your elbow from the camera angles. If you did, it's a red card and a good call over the radio. This is as a 5-year ref at semi pro levels
Hey Matt, I think the cross at 6:00 should have been to the guy making a top of the box / pk spot /cutback run. The angle might have been hard but I think you gotta try going for that guy there.
Fantastic commentary and analysis on this game, and very well played. It's so helpful to hear what you're thinking during the game, especially since you play the same position as me. Classy of you not to react too badly to the red card. Clearly it was BS and shouldn't have been given, but getting mad would just make it worse for your side. Great assist, and you almost scored a goal or two yourself!
From your statement, it doesn't sound like Charleston intends to (or can?) appeal on your behalf. That's unfortunate. The AR was 35 yards behind the play. I'm sure all he saw was a raised arm and the Hartford player fall. Interesting call to make as a straight red.
you had an ok game, without VAR i can see this given a red a lot of the time, its a clear yellow card for obstruction anyway. The assist however was world class
The red card was excessive but don't give the opposition the opportunity. You were in good position on that play, your team is up by 2 with 10 to go - there's no need to even slightly block or bump that guy at that time. Keep up the good play into next game.
You definitely played more offensively this game and I think the results show that. Hopefully your coach encourages you to do that in the future. The viewers can easily see all the opportunities you created in this game. Great job.... look foward to tonight's game (7/22)
The goal where Leland defended the 1v3. Looking back at it, what would you have done differently? I feel like he closed him up well and could've slid on the ball easily at that point. Just my opinion. Not a defender nor professional lmaoo
Sheldon great game. You're the prototype "Team-player". My only recommendation is try to make more positive passes. More forward passes. It will elevate your game. Cheers.
Good lord professional soccer in 2022 is a disgrace when it comes to physical play and red cards. My 5yr old nephew gets those obstruction calls in his little league - never mind a red card. But great game, Matt. I think you really fit nicely as a wingback since your younger days were that of an offensive player. I'd love to see you take players on more, actually vs. always crossing. You have the speed and moves. Also, as usual, your centerbacks were awful. No grown man should be getting megged, especially as a fullback. But I think these are the games that will catch the eye of MLS, hopefully.
It is a foul regardless if it wasn’t intentional because there is content but like a straight red for that is crazy. Must be jealous by your success 😂😂😂
Looked guilty. Changed your running speed once you make contact. Keep running at your original pace, and I’d even have a guess to say you glanced over at the ref as you ran back. Suggest would be to continue running at original speed back to the ball, also don’t look at ref, just focus on the ball. It gives the ref the opinion you were thinking about nothing other than the ball. No malice, so yellow card. But you changing your running speed and possibly glanced over at the ref to see what he was going to do. Both a no no. Otherwise great game and until this would have been the best performer on the pitch, keep your head on for the full 90, stick to good habits, bit lazy first few seconds there allowed the runner to get up nice and close to you. Keep those legs moving.
That was definitely a bad call by the referee. You were great this game. More aggressive with your attacking. Good stuff!

The shot at the end of the first half was good. You can bemoan the lack of precision, but it is really hard to hit a space that small in open play.
The wingback position suits you well because of your attacking abilities and you have the stamina to go up and down the pitch.
