I loved this one! Wish I could've found a better quality video, so my apologies.
After watching this, I looked up what boogie woogie means, and I was surprised! It was a genre of music created by African Americans/black Americans in the 1870s and it became popular in the 1920s

This is a clip from the movie "Buck Privates" 1941, starring comedians Abbot & Costello (whole 'nother story---Google "Who's On First"). That's Laverne, Maxene, and Patty Andrews. Patty, the youngest, did the solo. They began performing as a child act in the late 1920's, hit their peak in the '40's, and broke-up in the early 50's. Made-up, and sang again from the late 50's through the 1960's. Bette Midler sparked a new interest in this song, recording it in 1973. Oooh. . . . Gene Kelly AND the Nicholas Brothers doing "Be A Clown" in "The Pirate", 1948.

Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy" is a World War II jump blues song written by Don Raye and Hughie Prince which was introduced by The Andrews Sisters in the Abbott and Costello comedy film, Buck Privates (1941)

more akin to Big Band, less than blues. I'd put them in the same category as Glen Miller.

Check out Cab Calloway's song Minnie the Mocher. 1st time I heard it was in the 1981 movie The Blues Brothers.
The 2nd time I heard it was in 1984's The Cotton Club.
Bette Midler sang her version of this song in 1973. It made her s star.

I love seeing someone explore and enjoy the music I was raised around! (I'm not old enough to have heard it when it came out originally, but my parents were of that generation so that is the music they still enjoyed in the 1960s.) Enjoy!

ANOTHER GREAT ANDREW SISTERS IS....GIMME SOME SKIN MY FRIEND. I think there best. The girls were asked by there good friend Mantan Moreland a comic/actor to test out there new song at his club where he performs. The buzz got around many notables showed up at the Harlem club like young Lena Horne and her producer/boyfriend etc. The performance was a blistering success.

To have heard about these Women, you had to be Brought up either in their era or your Family introduced you to them. My Grandparents were this era & my grandfather played in the Big Bands as well. He was a Tenor Saxophonist, he also played the clarinet & a little bit of the flute, so you see for me, I’m only 59 yrs young, but I grew up hearing All of this Incredible music & The Hollywood Glamour era in movies as well. So you see it’s part of a Lifestyle IF you were in a Family who was into this kind of music & again Era. Listen to “In the Mood,” by the Glen Miller Orchestra. You wanna tap your foot or even get up to do the swing, this is the song for it. You’ll be hooked. Trust me 😁👍🏼

I just love the way their voices blended so amazingly - they made it look and sound effortless.
If you loved Cab Calloway and the Nicholas Brothers - do look up Eleanor Powell - never as famous as Ginger Rogers but known as the only woman who could out-tap Astaire. For starters, watch their one-take Begin the Beguine th-cam.com/video/0-b4M8jssX8/w-d-xo.html

The person that posted the video had to show a TV screen of the musical performance in the 1941 comedy film, “Buck Privates”, because Universal Pictures really tightly controls the copyrights to the Abbott And Costello film library. They don’t like to allow posting of their film footage for criticism or educational purposes. Also, the record labels that The Andrew Sisters were signed to really do not like music reactors to monetize reactions based upon their recordings. It’s sad, but there are record company executives and music copyright holders that are just that stubborn, and just that greedy.
