Hi I am currently learning the 2023-2024 Grade 6 exam pieces in preparation for my grade 6 practical exam next year! I have chosen A2, B2 and C1 as my 3 pieces for my grade 6 exam! For A2 which is a Baroque piece, I like it because of the moderate dance-like tempo, tidy, nice and clean ornamentation and detached playing, major key which gives a happy and delightful character! A very delightful Baroque piece, I enjoyed it very much! It makes me smile when playing! For B2, which is a minor Romantic piece, I like it because of the use of sustaining pedal, rubato, good contrasts in dynamics. There was also slowing down of tempo. For C1, which is a 20th century piece, I like it because of the very fast tempo, dissonance and unclear tonality Your playing is always so good and I enjoyed all your playing very much! Hope to see more videos from you!
Thank you so much for your comment! I‘m glad that my video can help you a little bit and inspires you. Great choice of the three pieces and great that you clearly know why you chose these three pieces. Wish you success for the exam☺️💪🏻
F. Kuhlau: "Allegro", First movement from Sonatina Op. 20, No. 1 at bar 19 I'm not sure that ABRSM change the last note form original (original is D, but ABRSM is C) haha
Dear Mr.Hung, SO WONDERFUL AS ALWAYS!!!!! Thank you-Dziękuję for my favourite different composers and for an excellent performance, I've added your great video to my public playlists called "My Favourite Classical Music" and "Mr.Hung Do", I wish you and your family all the best for this summer vacation season, my heartfelt greetings from warm Poland to Germany, have a nice relaxing sunny weekend. Joanna
Thank you so much😍😍 yes definitely, the pedal is helpful for a singing tone. But of course you have to take care that you don‘t overuse the pedal and it always stays clean in sound.
Thank you very much my friend. Beautiful performance 👏👏👏 I have notes Hellers' Op100 but I don't know if it is not too difficult for me. Oscar Peterson? Great. I love jazz. Is jazz improvisation in classical pianists programm? 😳
About Jazz: Actually you are either classical or jazz pianist. Of course there are pianists, who can play both well - and these pianists I really admire! But most of the classical musicians play mainly classical music. Sometime they play written jazz-style pieces by Kapustin. But improvisation is not usual in classical pianists‘ program 😅
@@PianoExplorerHungDo Thank you very much my friend. I love both. Classical and jazz music, and I'll play both. I can do it becouse I will not be a proffessional pianist. It's only a hobby 😁
There is a very slightly difference. The rhythm in bars 10 and 11 I play a bit „sharper“. The difference is so small that it‘s actually more a difference in the feeling of the rhythm.
You mean in Granados? It‘s romantic music, so one can more or less decide by taste, when to play the appoggiatura. But it most cases it sounds better to play before the beat, cause then you have the main line, the melody voice on beat, which of course sounds good. The appoggiatura is in the end just an ornamentation.
The middle register on the piano is tricky. When you don‘t balance it good with the other voices, it often is too loud. So you have to play the left hand in a very soft way there to have a good balance with the right hand. Not easy, but worth working on it💪🏻 try to practice the left hand „mute“ while the right hand plays melodiously😊
great playing - seems like ABRSM recycled quite a number of pieces for this syllabus. Remember learning A1, B2, and C3 for the grade 6 2009 exam back then.
You played professionally. I enjoy listening to all the pieces. Thanks for posting.
Thank you so much! I‘m happy that you like it☺️☺️
Fantastic! Sounds amazing! Have a great week ahead!
Thank you so much, Karlos!😍

I‘m quite sure there is a printing mistake in the ABRSM books. That‘s why I play the „original“ version😁
😊
Thank you, Sir. This was an immense help for my son.
I‘m very glad that I could help you and your son with this video☺️☺️

Beautifully played and presented 🎉 for B3 Mendelssohn, would you recommend using the pedal for the whole piece?

Hi in C3 does the dotted rhythm in bars 10/11 not need to be different from the usual swung quavers in bars 1/2?
There is a very slightly difference. The rhythm in bars 10 and 11 I play a bit „sharper“. The difference is so small that it‘s actually more a difference in the feeling of the rhythm.
May I ask why is the appoggiatura at bar 2&4 played before the beat instead of on the beat? Thank you very much .
You mean in Granados? It‘s romantic music, so one can more or less decide by taste, when to play the appoggiatura. But it most cases it sounds better to play before the beat, cause then you have the main line, the melody voice on beat, which of course sounds good. In a1 bar 17-21 I find when I play the piano it sounds really loud with pedal is that normal
