I always love opening a new box of anything and finding the instructions in the bottom. The first thing you read is how to unpack your new item. Gotta love it.
Thank you for this comparison! I've been using Twinkly on my Christmas tree for 3 years now. It's great, but the app tends to delete the mapping and we have to map everything again. It happened last year and again this year. This year I also got this new Govee v2 for my outside tree. It's great too, but I like the effects available on the Twinkly set more. By the way, you were supposed to map the lights for the Govee set too. The effects would look WAAAY better, similar to what Twinkly offers. You should definitely try that.
Amazing comparison video! The fact that you had all three up at the same time. Showed everything perfectly!! I think as someone who wanted the most minimal/classic looking lights, the twinkly look the most random and natural. I will say the Govee are brighter though. Sweet feature on all of them. Can’t go wrong with either of them I feel
Thanks for this comment. I was debating between govee and twinkly for my box bushes outside. I have used twinkly at work for my co workers but the lobby lights are on during the day. And I want more natural looking at home. The govee will be perfect for work since they are brighter.
@@Teremei yes the Govee are definitely brighter, and better for a bright/daylight environment. I bought the twinkly 400 for my at home tree and I personally love it. Especially the random uneven/traditional style Christmas lights. But yes for your use, absolutely go with the Govee!
Hi. Hope this might help getting the Govee tree to look a lot smoother with all the effects: The Govee Christmas String Lights 2 do have an option for 3D mapping as well, its in the app settings (top right corner, gear icon > "Lamp Bead Recognition" > "3D Spatial Recognition"). Govee calls it "Shape Mapping Technology". From their website (product page): "The app’s precise lamp bead mapping offers detailed control of individual lights, perfect for intricate DIY designs. "
So I'm curious about the brightness. Twinkly uses the same power brick for both their 400 & 600 bulb strands. I recently purchased the Twinkly 600 bulb strand and felt it was too dim. Govee operates their strands at 36v while Twinkly only operates at 24v. Curious if there is any noticeable difference in brightness between the Govee 500 bulb and the Twinkly 400 bulb setup.
I don’t have a light meter, so I don’t know the actual brightness but subjectively the Gove feels brighter than the Twinkly. I made this observation while shooting the video. Twinkly looks best when it’s dark. Govee can look good during the daytime. Twinkly struggles with bright ambient light. As a sidenote, current affects LED brightness more than voltage, but diode can be designed to operate a different voltages.
@TheLEDGuy thanks for the feedback. The video didn't make it look like there was too sharp of a difference but based on that I returned the Twinkly 600ct and ordered the Govee 500.
I have Govee permanent outdoor roof lights installed on my soffits for over a year now, they look and perform great. I also have Twinkly led string lights on a 4' wreath over my garage and and a 5' tree on my porch, look and perform great as well. I plan to get the Twinkly kit on my 7' indoor tree as well.... Twinkley looks classier on a tree especially compared to govee.
I had to buy two sets of the Govee Christmas Light 2 to fit my tree's height. Does anyone know if I can sync the two so they play the same effects simultaneously?
@ go to “device” then hit the gear in the top right (settings) and then you’ll see “shape mapping” Govee string lights 2 are way cooler than the other two because they have more connectivity options than twinkly and they look more organic than the net-style ones
@@TheLEDGuyit should be on the same page as the firmware update area. Open up the Govee Home app - tap on the string lights then the gear in the top right. You should see: Device name, layout settings of control page, device safety, power-off memory, shape mapping (beta), then WiFi settings. The shape mapping is the one you want. Tap on that and then the lights will flash a series of red and green while you have your camera (in the govee app) faced the tree. It takes a few seconds, but once it’s setup- the possibilities are endless!
Great video! I am thinking about picking up the Govee Christmas tree lights but am new to their products. Do I need to get the Govee Music Sync Box in order for voice & music mode to work?
Love the video! I’m looking for lights to put on a dirt bike, which means that I won’t have internet. Power is not a major concern, so do you have any recommendations for lights where I can choose the colour?
Very helpful, thank you. Agree that first one looks a little too linear. Any quick tree recommendations? Are any/all of these the famous Balsam Hill brand? Or are there cheaper options that look similar?
GOVEE or GO HOME 💙 I just got the Christmas Tree Lights... love them. Theyre essentially the same as their Curtain Lights. How are the String Lights V2 compared to the original? I was thinking of picking up a set.
You totally skipped that the Govee lights have the same mapping Twunkly has. It’s called Shape Mapping. Do you can get the sane event as the first govee tree in the second. And again with twinkle. Great video. Good stuff 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
I see you didnt adjust the brightness of the twinkly? Every pre design you pick from the app, you can edit , change the original colour and brightness and the speed.. im twinkly user with icecles, 2 strings of 600 and later today i buy the net lights from twinkly.. maybe just because a time limit you want of your video.. as said 'quick' overvieuw
Love the review and seeing all three trees together made for a good comparison. I love the effects of the Govee on the left tree, but don't like how you can see the wires. Since they are all connected together, is it possible to tuck away the wires into the tree to better hide them? Thanks, and Happy Holidays🎄
Would love to see how these three sets emulate white lights. LED Christmas lights tend to struggle with it and their marketing pictures and videos rarely depicts this mode.
Could you cut the wire that holds the Govee xmas tree lights ? that would make it much easier to push the light strands into the tree. i am assuming they are just there to keep the strands in unison. Oh and its nice to see a genuine review that isnt sponsored.
Govee Lovely lights. If they fail you are completely SOL. My outdoor permanent lights lasted 3 wks. I am now in the second month of trying to get replacement part. Absolutely the worst customer service. Repeatedly asked for info they already had. Gave me 3 different replacement dates. Have yet to send anything. It's as if they dick you around long enough you will just give up .Not happening too much work and money involved.
You’ve had exactly opposite the experience I’ve had. Every time I’ve had a light fail, I use the app “fix the problem” feature. After troubleshooting, they immediately send a new part. My permanent lights have been up over a year and I have had no problem with them. Did you protect the plug from water?
Actually the components such as the power brick on my Twinkly say made in China. I guess technically one is designed in Italy while both are made in China.
I always love opening a new box of anything and finding the instructions in the bottom. The first thing you read is how to unpack your new item. Gotta love it.
For real right? 😂
I’ve been waiting for someone to review the new Govee Christmas tree lights! Fantastic video thanks a lot! Made my decision a lot easier!
Glad I could help!
Awesome review!!! I love the twinkly the best
Thanks!!!

the twinkly best of...

Correct there is Tree Mapping with the Govee Christmas String 2, which makes it better.
Thank you! I’ll check it out!

Twinkly for sure
Right on!!!

I agree. Way classier.

Yes. You can. You can join them in a group of same devices or use DreamView.
The Govee String Lights 2 have mapping as well! The mapping enables even more options!
I’ve been trying to find that!!

Yeah came to the video looking for that specifically, too bad . Hopefully you can do an update
@ unfortunately, that option is not available on mine. Maybe I need to update the firmware?

Go for Govee! Govee Christmas Tree Lights 2 are The BEST!
Woot!!!!
Thank you for this comparison. Would I be able to power off and on via the app as opposed to pressing the button physically?
You have options. My preferred order smart home first, app second, button last.
Great video! I am thinking about picking up the Govee Christmas tree lights but am new to their products. Do I need to get the Govee Music Sync Box in order for voice & music mode to work?
No need to buy extra. Music mode works without any additional units. You only need a sync box for multiple light kits.
Love the video! I’m looking for lights to put on a dirt bike, which means that I won’t have internet. Power is not a major concern, so do you have any recommendations for lights where I can choose the colour?
Govee makes a car kit I use that should work. amzn.to/40A2xHc

Awesome!!!!
I actually like the V2 much better. I just didn’t like the cable color or thickness of the last year’s model.

I’m so sad I missed this function 😢 and I can’t find it now that I have it set up. It’s supposed to be under the little gear in the top right corner.
Apparently you can map the Govee String Lights 2 too?
That’s what they say. Struggling to find it.
I see you didnt adjust the brightness of the twinkly? Unfortunately, I maxed the brightness on Twinkly. Still cool lights though.

I agree completely. Tucking the wires takes away the effect and the connecting wires make it tough. Ornaments would help cover.
Who wraps lights like that though? Are they not designed to go around in a spiral?
Like what?
the twinkly3D setup is a bit long, so you missed the point. a twinkly3D setup kcsit hosszab ettől jól kihagytad a lényeget
Hmmm 🤔
Twinkly has 750ct strands at Costco for $125! Sounds high but pretty cheap if you know Twinkly..we have a couple thousand lights now!
That’s a deal!
i think the govee string lights have a new mapping feature
They do. I should have included. Couldn’t access on my app 😒
@ make a part 2!
@@vickomf1 I will!!!!

You could!!! Thx!!!
And what’s crazier about twinkly is they have had this technology sense like 2017!
Amazing right?!
Great review, unfortunately, Amazon has the Govee in 66, 99 or 328' ft left in stock... those wont work on a 7' tall tree
I think you can get away with a 99 foot
Or you can go to the Govee website and order from there
Twinkly the best👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Twinkly looks amazing!!!
The day wireless power work will be so sweet, but I'm afraid it's not in my lifetime.

Twinkly is way better than govee. I love govee lights but they don't compare at all to twinkly.
Definitely pros and cons to each brand. I was very impressed with Twinkly. I love the way they look on a tree.
Once you go Govee you don’t go back!

Mapping twinkly is a nightmare
Did you find it hard?
Twinkly are made in Italy, Govee from China. Guess which will last longer? Hint, Italy doesn't make junk!
Govee def better than the other junk I get from China. We will see vs Twinkly.
there's a reason Maserati has a horrible deprecation.

You have never owned an Italian motorcycle.....
What you on about, Italy is famous for pretty but unreliable things! 😂 Ducati, Alpha Romeo etc..
