@@fireteardrops I'm doing this fight on normal. If I wanted a really.tough fight, I'd bring up the difficulty. Developers just need to better differentiate what easy, normal, hard is

Cool thing about Breath for anyone that doesn't know, that attack has a blindspot inside of tiamat, so you can dash up to her inside of Breath and hit her during that move.
After more attempts than I'd care to admit I finally searched the fight and loaded your video. Soon as I saw you shielding alllll of her attacks I face palmed and killed it. Thank you.
There is an awful quirk with the Tiamat jump where the camera tracking + the boss's tracking will cause you to dodge into it. I am getting so tired of this boss.
Very much appreciate it. I was guarding and not absorbing attacks. Definitely a walk for me and I’m on action difficulty. I went from elden ring to this and I was getting destroyed. I think I need to look at gear more as well. The recommended gear thing doesn’t seem to really always be best
happy to help! it's easy to get caught up guarding, it's more natural after playing most other games that offer the opportunity. you're also right about the recommended gear. it defaults to highest stats, and leaves behind the idea of building up job affinity to help unlock new potential. good luck out there JumboWizard!
I was playing on the 2nd difficulty but man if you're not prepared for her regeneration this fight is annoying lol, best strat for me was lightbringer and use swordfighter interception then soul block every attack, feels great
You can counter the Regenerate with any spell from what I kept testing. I do believe it stops the regen. The easiest class to fight with most bosses is Safe. You can heal and also deal DPS. Sage also has a nuke spell if you using any 3 White & Dark spells. It tears the break gauge and hp. Have fun :D
I just started playing this (action mode) yesterday, and man, I'm loving the game, but this boss is getting on my nerves. I have taken a break to come see how TH-camrs are beating her, and though I've not yet gotten to phase 2 with Tiamat, I appreciate knowing what to go for when I get there. I have to say that I love using Thief Steal to grab the instant Tiamat uses, and shoot it right back...it always hits the necks! However, I have not been absorbing, and that seems pretty critical!!
The comment about making sure to absorb and play the long game is what got me through. I used war cry, regen, absorbing and timed dodges for awhile but I got em. Thanks for the tips!
The problem is soul shield flat out doesn't work. I hit it for about 1/4 a second, and unless I have the timing PERFECT, then my shield out, and I end up winded and unable to move before getting one-shot.
Mages are broken in the game, especially in this fight. You can cheese it and kill Tiamat with no effort at all by using Blizzaga, and the second phase is even easier. Just stay away, use Blizzaga one time to break all heads, and dodge until it uses it's heal. Immediately charge another Blizzaga and break the heads again and rinse and repeat. Will have to soul shield a few moves to regain mp.
This boss fight has me really excited to see what bosses are still to come in the future, it was tough to take down on hard difficulty and I loved working my way through it.
Issue is and I know this is a year old the design revolves around parrying and the game literally never emphasizes this at any point so when it's forced people can't adapt this is one of the many reason this game sucks compared to previous and new team ninja games
This definitely helped a ton cause I wasnt even thinking about its break gauge, or absorbing its attacks, except the ones that show up in purple. Im playing on Action mode.

@@theJOSHfeed I fought tiamat, the earth and fire bosses and tiamat was the most challenging one. But we all know who the real boss is: MASTER TONBERRY
The key to this fight is to use Lightbringer, while that ability is active, it reduces Tiamat's maximum break gauge. Once you get her pattern down, absorb MP and retaliate with Lightbringer, you can bring her down.
you can use your abilities to hit them, you can also not use target lock to manually aim many abilities in the game. most melee attacks will also work well as I do in this video.

I was a warrior using a katana and I used the Garo attack with just r1> r2 and the attack shreds the break gauge even reducing its maximum quite a bit. Garo has a large hit area that reaches to the necks of tiamat. Otherwise, this boss fight is a slug of a fight, gotta focus on soul shielding the attacks and in the second phase, I always wait for tiamat to use that large beam attack, I dodge it and run for it's heads
I had the ability Ultima by the time I got to this fight lol, I just killed him after I was able to charge it up with the 3 spheres for black and white, had to get him a bit down on hp first before he regened again and time it right but managed to lower his break gauge fast enough, I never thought to wear him down lol
I was nukin him with ultima when im using my sage and got pissed with tiamats regen, now i know its the break gage i need to concentrate, thank you much appreciated 👍🤘
That fight is very bad. I spend a ton of time trying to understand what the hell is going on on the second phase. I tried everything. You cannot target individual heads. And cutting all of them was a hustle. Real hustle. The bosses in this game are not good in my opinion. But the combat system is what holding the game together for me. Playing on PC with awful optimization they made.
Tiamat made easy: Use black mage. Absorb every attack you can for mana. Cast Blizzaga as much as you can. Watch Blizzaga destroy heads as the break gauge gets deleted. You win. I figured this out way later than I should have. I failed over and over trying to use melee. You can use Paladin or White Mage as alt if you need the heals, but by the time I figured out to get a black mage, I learned the fight completely and never got hit.
I think you suggestion was wrong for second phase to just cut off her heads. It'd work but still too slow if you hadn't have strong gear/job yet. This level is still early on game journey. Just use your lightbringer to destroy her break meter fast like game want you to do.
Wanna easy mode this boss? There’s nothing more annoying than bosses that regen health with no clues given as to how to counter it. Unbelievably annoying. I can slap him even through the second phase but then he instantly heals back to half health. So dumb.
My method was using lancer and throwing the spear whenever he had his necks extended. Did almost a quarter of his break gauge if timed correct. Also helped me keep my distance and conserve potions. Good shout absorbing his attacks instead of blocking. The thought never would have crossed my mind. Thanks.

I knew it was going to be a tough fight once I heard the name. They made Tiamat look a tad different but the badassery is all the same! Thanks for the video!!!
After a few tries, I (on CASUAL Difficulty, I might add) finally beat Tiamat, despite NOT absorbing any attacks, or using Mage power.
