I've owned my Launchpad X now for over a year without understanding the full potential it has. I bought it for looping in Ableton but the only thing I've ever been able to use it for is a MIDI "instrument" within Ableton to play synth sounds and such.. Every other video or forum post I see or read about this device confuses me to death! Thank you for making such a simple breakdown on how the Launchpad X operates!! Very helpful! Btw- what version of Ableton are you using here? What I learned was that I had to get a special "Launchpad95" file to put in my folder structure in order for Ableton 10 Suite to recognize it as a surface controller. Otherwise it will only work with Ableton Lite.. Was this your experience too? Thanks again for this video, subbed! :)

for people that have problem with the session feature on their launchpad here is a solution that might help.
Download and install the free ableton live lite that comes with your launchpad then go to it's folder on your computer
(PC: Local Disc(C:) > ProgramData > Ableton > Live 10 Lite > Resources )
copy the Midi remote scripts file and paste (replace) the one on your original ableton live 10 folder. That fixed the problem for me. hope this helps!

May it's just me but who can remember all of that? For the type of functions it has ATOM sq would be more appropriate for. Just seems to complicated, but I'm simple minded so...

It is automatic actually, you need to update to the latest version of Ableton :)

I had the same problem but I fixed it.
