That demon eat thing to become one was my least favorite so far

I wholeheartedly agree with Chris on this one. If the system was perfect, maybe then. But we KNOW how f'd up our system is, especially when you get into the disparity of harsher punishments for those in minority groups. That being said, I'm glad there seems to be differing opinions among the group. Looking forward to their reactions and discussions as the show progresses.
However, we all know how much light degrades over time. A point in the series comes when you can no longer agree with him, mostly because he no longer evne cares about the "ideals" and just starts killing off absolutely anyone who opposes him, no matter who it is. He ends up becoming a megalomaniac with an obsession on being the "new world's god"

Michał Augustynowicz Yeah, I’m still hoping it does come back, but they (and their audience) usually leaned more towards battle anime (Not that I’m complaining as I am as well) over psychological or intellectual themes. Steins;Gate and Death Note were two of my top wishes for them to react to, but I don’t think they really fit their usual taste in shows but never say never. I’m probably wrong. They had to go with what the majority of their patrons want because it would be silly for them to “waste” their time on a series if they feel as though it would just underperform.

We'll have to be patient for more. With the pandemic going on they won't be able to jump into the rest until after it's over or one of the other shows ends. The only reason they watched these first two was because of the Patreon Request tier rewards where someone asked to react to the first 2 episodes. It will likely be a few months until episode 3 and onward continue to be reacted to.

Theres a difference between getting your hands dirty and being dirty. Murders are dirty but people kill them are only getting their hands dirty. Or at least that's my opinion.
I probably wouldn’t use the notebook to kill people like Light but I would use the notebook in certain situation like killing off drug cartels or dictators. Things you can tactically fix and see a direct change and know what is being done. I wouldn’t kill individual criminals just because you would never know for sure what that person did or didn’t do besides the moral ramifications. It kinda starts to become a bit Nazi like wanting to kill people who are disabled, gay, non white, etc to to take it upon yourself to dictate who lives or dies based on the crimes they committed. Sometimes laws aren’t just and should be broken it shouldn’t be up to someone like Light to kill someone who is killing to fight for their freedom or stealing food to survive etc. The issue with Light is that he thinks in absolutes. If you’re not a person who has the means to live a productive life and not be a criminal then you deserve to die. He doesn’t care about circumstance or things like rehabilitating criminals.
In the manga the part when Ryuk said that you can't go to heaven or hell is different because Light answers something like " I know because hell and heaven don't exist" then Ryuk is surprised and says that Light is te first human who has said that and that he is actually right. So in death note after you die theres nothing, the authors explained that for them that is really terrifying.

18:30 With what the guy is saying with judges and stuff while it is true that a person is making a judgement on a persons life the difference here is that in this case the accused has a chance to showcase their side of the story, not only that but there are *many* checks and balances in place between executive, judicial and legislative powers to make sure that one group does not hold all the power. However in Light's case it's only going through one person and their biases with no chance for the other side to present their story. So respectfully disagreeing, this gets even more disturbing considering Japan's guilty until proven innocent policy. I look forward to the discussion on this show as there are many themes which are interesting to debate with. That and the cat and mouse chase in the show is genuninally the best part. It makes me feel like an idiot for even trying to catch up mentally though...

@@i.o4766 Oh no I completely agree there are many issues with the checks and balances. An example would be in the English system paraliment is able to over through court rulings with acts. However that wasn't what I meant, I am aware that the system isn't completely fair but in comparison to Kira (only going through one person who is judge, jury and executioner) it's far more fair, the point I was trying to make is that the court system and Kira are not similar at all because unlike Kira the court system has many things in place to make it more fair, it's not perfect and can be corrupt but it's far from Kira's dictatorship version of justice. The dude in the video was trying to make a case that both were very similar because of their corruption but I disagreed as unlike Kira the corruption is handled more fairly in court systems, not perfect but better.
Want to know something crazy Nahid? In Alabama, Florida, and Delaware, judges have the power to override a jury's decision in a trial where the death penalty is on the table and can sentence them to death. A lone person decides this.

This is gonna be an essay. I'm in Chris's camp. Some logic on the sentencing of death topic set me off and this anime always sparks that debate. The main flaw I saw in Lights logic about how messed up the world is was that he thinks him killing these people will fix it but the ignorant part about it is what about after he dies? He can be sure that the world won't revert. After all, you can only control people for so long. The best and worst part about free will is that everyone has it. He has more power to assert his will onto others but its still not enough to enforce a lasting limit on everyone else's choices. I definitely agree with the mindset that people shouldn't have the choice to tell someone they aren't allowed to or shouldn't exist and then actually have the power to enforce that. Once someone has the choice to take away everyone else's choices then what is free will at that point. It becomes whatever is allowed and that is not "free" will at all. Then again it happens with the way that we distribute power in the world but regardless of what reasoning or argument someone could give me, I refuse to believe that something of this nature can be good. Yes, that includes judges and trials. I don't like the idea of absolutes. Things that can't be undone. We cant grant life as well so why act as if we can rightfully take it for the good of whatever we consider good? Not in the hands of such flawed, unpredictable, and corruptable, beings as humans are. Sometimes it's even gross to know that casting this kind of judgment happens. It makes me wish that there were people even more so powerful enough to reject such judgments and make those who cast them feel powerless. But only Jesus did that and we haven't had one of those since. For the people that think "yeah we shouldn't BUT," stop. No excuses for it. Everyone will die when its time. But to take someone and then enforce it is something that I can only imagine a criminal doing and thinking "this is how it should be." Imposed death isn't even a punishment. It's tipping the scale in a way that's never balanced. It's just speeding up the process that we're all going through to what, make it better for someone for that moment or to cleanse our already sick world with more of this gross thinking. This is how we make it better? That's just weak. Even if you say you pay for a life with a life that's also false. You cant pay for death with death. That like saying if someone takes ten dollars from you then their punishment should be that not only do you lose your ten dollars but they have to burn the ten dollars they stole. That's stupid. It's a lose-lose situation for everyone. You pay by giving and by definition giving cant be taken otherwise it wouldn't be giving. Serving a sentence is the only way to go really but being put to death against one's will is taking a life. Like I said before making the situation a double negative. I can spend hours on this philosophical topic. It was just that dude set me off. The way he justified it just seemed so . . . basic and shallow. Almost like when I meet someone who bases all their thinking off of stereotypes and cant think deeper than that. Maybe they can make the death sentence a choice for people serving a sentence so long without parole that they would die in prison anyway but I would even be against that just because would have to ask ourselves if we are advocating in favor of the choice of suicide in our society and I definitely don't. Once you bring that factor in with also the topic of economics on the subject, the emotional tolls it can have on anyone involved, and an onslaught of other variables, this conversation can be never-ending on the simple question of "what should we do and what are we trying to get from this?" Is it really an effective solution to a bigger problem or is it just lazy and primitive?" We can put a magnifying glass to a lot of the ways we think in our society and ask those questions to open our eyes to the reality of the matter. Some things are just that deep. That or we put it off for so long that it's root is shrouded by time and is no longer obvious to us in a way that is fixable within a short period of time. To me, the death sentence warrants a deeper question about the person being sentenced to death. Where has this person been and where would they have gone had this not happened. What use could they have been? If we've gotten to the point of purging one of our own then where did we go wrong in the first place? This is one of those things shrouded by time that we just don't know how to investigate. We cant reach deep enough to know these things for sure and find real solutions. That's why it irks me so much for us to deal in such absolute ways. The simplicity, laziness, and lack of capability of it is just unfair to all of us. It's just digging the hole deeper. That's the bigger picture that so many people can't wrap their minds around. I can't even take people who say "I watched a documentary" seriously. Read a book. It's better for formulating a working thought process. In other words, it's better for actually thinking.

In the manga the part when Ryuk said that you can't go to heaven or hell is different because Light answers something like " I know because hell and heaven don't exist" then Ryuk is surprised and says that Light is te first human who has said that and that he is actually right. So in death note after you die theres nothing, the authors explained that for them that is really terrifying.

They watch the first episode after it being recommended, and then they make a decision or not based off the first episode to see if it's worth the watch. Did the same thing with demon slayer, watched first episode and they were hooked
well, the plot gets pretty bad after like 10-15 episodes that's for sure.

With what the guy is saying with judges and stuff while it is true that a person is making a judgement on a persons life the difference here is that in this case the accused has a chance to showcase their side of the story, not only that but there are *many* checks and balances in place between executive, judicial and legislative powers to make sure that one group does not hold all the power. However in Light's case it's only going through one person and their biases with no chance for the other side to present their story. So respectfully disagreeing, this gets even more disturbing considering Japan's guilty until proven innocent policy.
I look forward to the discussion on this show as there are many themes which are interesting to debate with. That and the cat and mouse chase in the show is genuninally the best part. It makes me feel like an idiot for even trying to catch up mentally though...
The checks and balances are not balanced at all though. It's a flawed system and i think that's the point he was trying to say. I don't agree with him but yea.
@@i.o4766 Oh no I completely agree there are many issues with the checks and balances. An example would be in the English system paraliment is able to over through court rulings with acts. However that wasn't what I meant, I am aware that the system isn't completely fair but in comparison to Kira (only going through one person who is judge, jury and executioner) it's far more fair, the point I was trying to make is that the court system and Kira are not similar at all because unlike Kira the court system has many things in place to make it more fair, it's not perfect and can be corrupt but it's far from Kira's dictatorship version of justice. The dude in the video was trying to make a case that both were very similar because of their corruption but I disagreed as unlike Kira the corruption is handled more fairly in court systems, not perfect but better.

This is gonna be an essay. I'm in Chris's camp.
Some logic on the sentencing of death topic set me off and this anime always sparks that debate. The main flaw I saw in Lights logic about how messed up the world is was that he thinks him killing these people will fix it but the ignorant part about it is what about after he dies? He can be sure that the world won't revert. After all, you can only control people for so long. The best and worst part about free will is that everyone has it. He has more power to assert his will onto others but its still not enough to enforce a lasting limit on everyone else's choices. I definitely agree with the mindset that people shouldn't have the choice to tell someone they aren't allowed to or shouldn't exist and then actually have the power to enforce that. Once someone has the choice to take away everyone else's choices then what is free will at that point. It becomes whatever is allowed and that is not "free" will at all. Then again it happens with the way that we distribute power in the world but regardless of what reasoning or argument someone could give me, I refuse to believe that something of this nature can be good. Yes, that includes judges and trials. I don't like the idea of absolutes. Things that can't be undone. We cant grant life as well so why act as if we can rightfully take it for the good of whatever we consider good? Not in the hands of such flawed, unpredictable, and corruptable, beings as humans are. Sometimes it's even gross to know that casting this kind of judgment happens. It makes me wish that there were people even more so powerful enough to reject such judgments and make those who cast them feel powerless. But only Jesus did that and we haven't had one of those since. For the people that think "yeah we shouldn't BUT," stop. No excuses for it. Everyone will die when its time. But to take someone and then enforce it is something that I can only imagine a criminal doing and thinking "this is how it should be." Imposed death isn't even a punishment. It's tipping the scale in a way that's never balanced. It's just speeding up the process that we're all going through to what, make it better for someone for that moment or to cleanse our already sick world with more of this gross thinking. This is how we make it better? That's just weak. Even if you say you pay for a life with a life that's also false. You cant pay for death with death. That like saying if someone takes ten dollars from you then their punishment should be that not only do you lose your ten dollars but they have to burn the ten dollars they stole. That's stupid. It's a lose-lose situation for everyone. You pay by giving and by definition giving cant be taken otherwise it wouldn't be giving. Serving a sentence is the only way to go really but being put to death against one's will is taking a life. Like I said before making the situation a double negative. I can spend hours on this philosophical topic. It was just that dude set me off. The way he justified it just seemed so . . . basic and shallow. Almost like when I meet someone who bases all their thinking off of stereotypes and cant think deeper than that. Maybe they can make the death sentence a choice for people serving a sentence so long without parole that they would die in prison anyway but I would even be against that just because would have to ask ourselves if we are advocating in favor of the choice of suicide in our society and I definitely don't. Once you bring that factor in with also the topic of economics on the subject, the emotional tolls it can have on anyone involved, and an onslaught of other variables, this conversation can be never-ending on the simple question of "what should we do and what are we trying to get from this?" Is it really an effective solution to a bigger problem or is it just lazy and primitive?" We can put a magnifying glass to a lot of the ways we think in our society and ask those questions to open our eyes to the reality of the matter. Some things are just that deep. That or we put it off for so long that it's root is shrouded by time and is no longer obvious to us in a way that is fixable within a short period of time. To me, the death sentence warrants a deeper question about the person being sentenced to death. Where has this person been and where would they have gone had this not happened. What use could they have been? If we've gotten to the point of purging one of our own then where did we go wrong in the first place? This is one of those things shrouded by time that we just don't know how to investigate. We cant reach deep enough to know these things for sure and find real solutions. That's why it irks me so much for us to deal in such absolute ways. The simplicity, laziness, and lack of capability of it is just unfair to all of us. It's just digging the hole deeper. That's the bigger picture that so many people can't wrap their minds around. I can't even take people who say "I watched a documentary" seriously. Read a book. It's better for formulating a working thought process. In other words, it's better for actually thinking.
