Maiden is far bigger than the joke hall of clowns, if they accept it i will be surprised they felt that was any sort of achievement. That clown club wishes it could be inducted into the Maiden hall of greatness. Love your reactions btw
This song is the continuation of the song Charlotte the Harlot. Part 2 of 3 of Charlotte's continuing saga. I love the riff in this one and bass near the end is stellar.
@@patrickgallagher4212 Some people think Hooks in you is part of the series because of room 22, but the inspiration for the song has nothing to do with Charlotte the Harlot. In Bruce Dickinson's own words"Hooks In You' is a slightly tongue-in-cheek thing. Me and Paddy (his wife) went to look at a house to buy, and it was lived in by three gay guys. We looked around and it had all these beams, and one of the guys was obviously into S&M and leather and stuff, and in one room there were these enormous industrial hooks screwed into the beams. My mind boggled at what they could be used for. I went home and wrote 'Hooks In You' with the line 'All the hooks in the ceiling, that well hung feeling.' I couldn't write it about gay guys, but what if you went round to the house of Mr. and Mrs. Average you found all these hooks in the ceiling? What do THEY get up to? (when asked if he bought the house) No, we didn't! At the end of the song the guy thinks his wife has been unfaithful and sets her in concrete in the foundations."
Great reaction as always! Sorry to hear you've been unwell, I hope you're over the worst of it and are feeling a bit better. Maiden definitely deserve a place in the (non) Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame. Tbh it should've happened years ago, but better late than never.
Maiden did not get into RRHOF this year, which I think is just fine with most seasoned Maiden fans. That organization has steadily turned itself into a joke in a lot of people's eyes (including within the industry), and at this point they probably want to avoid the embarrassment of Maiden declining their invite.
Screw the (none) rock and roll hall of shame! I forget how great this is from start to finish;-) Welcome to the Maiden family;-P Keep it up. Up the mighty Irons!!!!
Your thoughts on the background of this song are correct. Love this one. Guitars on this one are perfect. Murray's slow solo is one of my favorites and Adrian Smith and Steve Harris follow that up with a killer solo and great bass work like Mark mentioned earlier.
You are going to love the next four maiden albums. Btw you should give a try to Gary Moore: still got the blues, empty rooms like in Stockholm, wild frontier, over the hills and far away.
11:15 - There may be many out there that prefer Bruce to Paul, but there's no denying the fact that Paul is an EXCELLENT vocalist to say the least. He unfortunately though will be forever compared to Bruce, which sucks because Bruce is arguably one of the top 5 greatest vocalists in metal history.
Paul WAS a good vocalist. He was never great. His technique lacked then and he cannot sing at all now. For at least 24 years Paul has sounded bad. Bruce can still sing.
Yes, as you've already read, I presume, these lyrics really are about "Charlotte the harlot", which is kind of funny since the first song was written by Dave Murray (guitar on every Iron Maiden release), while "22 Acacia Avenue" is written by Adrian Smith (guitar, debuted on "Killers") and Steve Harris (bass, and the band's founder, chief songwriter and undisputed leader "from here to eternity" - you'll get that reference a few more albums in). Singer Bruce Dickinson truly is one of the most beloved "replacement singers" in music history. His epic vocal style, theatrical in telling a story, was described by Rolling Stone Magazine as equal parts Shakespeare and Doctor Who. That is a brilliant way of putting it. And having a singer of this calibre was also what Steve Harris had been looking for, since the bassist had felt increasingly frustrated about not being able to write songs as epic and multi-layered as he wanted to, because original singer Paul Di'Anno couldn't sing like that, and wasn't even interested. Paul was always a punk rocker at heart, while Steve was a self-taught progressive rock enthusiast, influenced by bands like Genesis, Jethro Tull, Nektar and not least Wishbone Ash (it's no coincidence that the latter band also based their sound on intricate melodies by twin lead guitars, and had a leader who was a bass player playing equally intricate and melodic bass lines, Martin Turner). I recall from earlier videos that you have indeed noticed the bass playing in Iron Maiden, so I'll sign off by professing my own undying love for Steve Harris, as a songwriter and a bassist. There are few, in the metal world at least, who have made so many aspiring musicians wondering what instrument to choose make the decision "bass it is!", as Steve Harris. Obviously Geezer Butler of Black Sabbath too, but apart from him Steve probably takes the cake. This self-taught bassist, playing his lightning fast, world-famous "galloping" bass lines (I'm sure you can guess how they got that nickname!) with two picking fingers - not a pick in sight, it's fingerstyle only ... well, what more can anyone say. Nobody had heard anything quite like it in 1980, and it stands out even today as unique-souding and then some. And yet, he remains the most humble man imaginable as far as his playing is concerned. He reminds everyone who brings it up just how LITTLE he knows about bass playing, and famously said back in the day that it was never important to him to be a "good bass player": the important thing was to make sure that all the songs were good. As we all know, he achieved both those things anyway, and for that he remains one of the most respected, beloved and influential people in metal history.
@@SarahraeLivingLifeMmmmm………Acacia is a tree 🌲. So when this came out was like…………😜😜😜😜 never heard before, those screams and sounds. Like you said, too much difference between Paul Di’anno and Bruce and also the instrumentation changed a lot. I doubt they will get into the HOF as the Hall seems more inclined to enter non-rockers instead of well deserved classic rock and metal veterans. It took years for Judas Priest to get in. There are also other bands just as deserving who will never be nominated. Sad and pathetic!!
Is the RRHOF stupid, ignorant, corrupted or all of them? Lol, actually idk the details snd what going on, but from what i know, it’s a corrupted and ignorant institution…
React to an American hard-heavy band called Lillian Axe, there are many songs that are great but I recommend the following ones: - Ghost Of Winter - Psychoschyzophrenia _ See You Someday _ Sad Day On Planet Earth _ The World Stopped Turning Greets from Ecuador 👍
What bands are somehow similar to them, to not be disappointed actually saying, because i’m somehow open to every genre but at the same time very picky! Btw, Maiden is one of the best bands and artists for me, if not the best idk 🤷♂️!
YOU GOTTA REACT TO IRON MAIDEN HALLOWED BE THY NAME, DANCE OF DEATH, FLIGHT OF ICARUS, AND IT WOULD BE AWESOME IF YOU REACTED TO THE FULL CONCERT OF IRON MAIDEN IN 2011 IN SANTIAGO CHILE, THAT IS DEFINITELY ONE OF THE BEST METAL CONCERTS EVER KNOWN TO MAN!! 🔥🔥
A track of such vulgar dipiction of a woman would perhaps wrinkle some feathers for virtue signallers to go and point fingers at a band for these lyrics unless it was a rap song these days but until the femenist/neo liberal movement came to be this was just a damn song.
One of my all time favorite songs. The riff is fiiiiire! And the Instrumental after saves solo gives me goosebumps
I've seen maiden 17 times they have played this track every show. I feel like it has to be one of the band's personal favorites
Bruce’s voice is just insane.

Clive on the drums 🥲RIP
Great stuff
la mejor banda del heavy metal
You should try Fates Warning and Ray Alder who just released his 2nd solo album this past June. The Hollow Shell is an awesome tune
This is killer one of Adrian Smiths first songs he wrote for IRON MAIDEN
Well put
This song was written and brought to the band by guitarist Adrian Smith
